Abstract

Development in an urban area as an impact of high density population is always in line with landuse change. Alteration of landuse from permeable area into impermeable area give an impact on reducing amount of rainfall which infiltrate into soil. This situation directy will cause an inundation problem in an urban area. The research was located in Brantas Sub Watershed which was administered include in the Klojen District, Malang. The study was focussed on estimate spatially an infiltration area map by considering various of landuse type. Analyses of infiltration area spatially was performed by applying hydrological model which integrated with Geographical Information System. The result showed that there was difference response on each landuse type in term of infiltration rate which occurred. Direct field measurement was conducted on each landuse type and exhibited level of infiltration rate from least one to biggest one, namelygreen open area (0,172 mm/min), shrub (0,068 mm/min), commercial area (0,043 mm/min), social and public facility area (0,032 mm/min) and residential area (0,031 mm/ min), respectively. Spatial analyses of infiltration areausing hydrological model KINEROS by considering 5 year design rainfall showed percentage of infiltration area 8,15% (for landuse year 2000), 7,82% (for landuse year 2005), and 6,6% (for landuse year 2010(, respectively. It can be known that the percentage of infiltration area was decrease from year 2000 to 2010. These results were hoped to be an important information for city planning especially in term of land and water conservation in urban area. Keywords: KINEROS model, Infiltration, Infiltration Area

Abstract

Underdrain Box Storage is one of the conservation drainage (eco-drainage) that can be developed for a dense residential (urban villages). Surface runoff flows into the drainage channel and the bottom were the holes are arranged along the channel as a storage function, where the base of the shelter space in direct contact with the soil is the one concept offered.Construction Underdrain Box Storage consists of open channel, vertical drain hole, and box storage. The function of open channel is received runoff in the area. Vertical drain hole is continuing drain water runoff into the box storage. And the box storage as long storage is hold runoff to fill and absorb into the ground naturally. In addition, the application of underdrain box storage is reduced runoff in Jl.Yogyakarta (Veteran) until 83,34%. This system is capable to provide infiltration until 5% for on ce rainfall within 1hour.By considering the pattern of rainfall and its duration during the last 5 years in the UB campus, then every time the rainy season UB-Drainage system is able to contribute water infiltration by 45%.Keywords: underdrain box storage, run-off, reduced, infiltration

Abstract

Sutami reservoir water quality declined due to the high character of organic waste disposal. This degradation is attributed by contamination due to natural erosion and agricultural waste, is also due to the entry of domestic waste (household) and industrial waste in upstream reservoirs Sutami. The addition of organic and inorganic materials in the form of waste into the reservoir in addition to changing the chemical composition of water, also affects the biological properties of these waters. The purpose of this study was to determine the load capacity of pollution that occurred in the reservoir Sutami and trophic status based on the Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 28 of 2009.The study was conducted in the reservoir Sutami using primary and secondary data. Sampling locations in the central part of the reservoir at a depth of 0.3 m and 5 m and the lower reaches of the reservoir at a depth of 0.3 m and 10 m. Observed variables include levels of P (Phosphorus), water clarity, and Chlorophyll-a is contained in water reservoirs Sutami. Chlorophyll-a and the brightness of the water obtained from the sampling process independently, while the number of secondary data from phosphorus (P) obtained from Perum Jasa Tirta I from January 2010 until May of 2011. The data obtained were analyzed with descriptive statistics showing the average and standard deviation. The results showed that the condition of the water reservoir was contaminated Sutami in moderate to severe, both in the location of reservoirs upstream and downstream reservoirs. Trophic status of reservoirs Sutami is eutrofik to hypertrophic occurs on the downstream and middle reservoirs. Impacts arising from pollution levels that occur in the Sutami reservoir is the potential for algae bloom due to the high amount of phosphorus and chlorophyll-a. Load carrying capacity of the reservoir pollution Sutami for total phosphorus (kg / year) at the upstream location; 39 kg P / year, the middle; 195 kg P / year and downstream; 178.5 kg P / year. Keywords: pollution, trophic status, chlorophyll-a, reservoirs Sutami

Abstract

This research is for finding the suitable the synthetic data generating model for daily rainfall in the region of Middle Brantas River Basin in the East Java Province. There are 7 models being considered, 4 models for single-site generation, (1) the two-part, model group, (2) the transition probability matrix model group, (3) the resampling model group, and (4) the time series model group, and 3 models for multisite generation, (5) the conditional, model group, (6) the extension of single site Markov chain model group, and (7) the random cascade model group. All of the time-series produced by the daily rainfall synthetic data generation are then tested statistically. The results show that statistically the differences between the historical time series and the synthetically time series are not too significant. It turn out that the multisite model have produced better synthetic time series compared to those which have been produced by the single-site models. Keywords: generating model, synthetic data, daily rainfall.

Abstract

This paper discusses the results of a physical modelling of drainage channel where the holes at the bottom were arranged along the channel to fill the storage underneath. This research could be the initial step to get a formulation of flow capacity through drainage channel’s orifice, and expected to push further research. The results show that it is necessary take corrections to the formulation of flow through an orifice of tank in order to estimate flow through an orifice with horizontal flow. Formulation of flow capacity through orifice with horizontal flow above can be approximated by the relationship curves between Fr (Froude) and Q 2 / (h 1 5 .g) 1/2 as well as between Fr and a/h1 2Keywords: physical modelling, flow capacity, underdrain box storage

Abstract

The Tanjungwangi Beach has a length of 4.52 km has been experiencing with accretion and abrasion in some area due to the dominant wave from northeast direction. Therefore, it is important to take any actions considered as necessary countermeasures to solve the problem of accretion and abrasion. The aim of this study is to understand the distribution of wave direction, the wave with the return period of 25 years H max , H , and the dominance of wave from northeast direction. In term of sediment transport and coastline stability problems, the study location is aiming to find the technical solution. The results indicated that the direction of highest wave comes from the south with rate of 51.505 %, while the highest wave was developed from the northeast direction was 12.596 %. Transported sediment based on data analysis were 13,267.552 m 10 3 /year (abrasion) and 812.239 m /year (accretion). However, the field observation within 10 year period showed that the transport rates are 13,294.955 m 3 /year (abrasion) and 808.018 m 3 3 /year (accretion). Based on the analysis, Tanjungwangi Beach is majorly experiencing with abrasion processes. The revetment structure of natural rock pile was suggested to be set up within the study area. Keywords: Tanjungwangi beach, wave, accretion, abrasion, revetment

Abstract

Within this physical hydraulic model of spillway of the Pidekso Dam, the experiment consisted of 9-series of testing; 4-series were testing of narrowing the angle of transition channel by 24 degree while 5others were by 12 degree. For the testing of series No.0 (original design) to No.8, the flow capacity was adequate for various discharges over spillway and outlet structure. Overall, the best hydraulic performance of the model was achieved by series No.4 in term of flow condition (uniformly distributed). This was a model of transition channel with angle of transition of 12 degree and no baffle apron used.Basically, all of testing of the model series No.0 to No.8 brought the positive impact to the downstream-part (section No.36) by considering the dissolved oxygen (DO) level. It was ranging from 11.1 mg/l to 14.2 mg/ l. According to the results of DO level, then only the series No.0 to No.3 were chosen as alternatives design for the case of transition channel with the angle of 24 degree combined with various dimensions of baffle apron. There were regular changes of DO level but the values were still lying above the minimum requirement level and were not harmful for fishery.By respecting to the eco-hydraulic concept, the downstream waterway was designed to be the stone pitching combined with vegetation. It was suggested that the bare floodplain at downstream-part need to be greening by mean of vegetation.Keyword: dam, spillway, baffle apron, dissolved oxygen

Abstract

The indicator impaired balance the hydrologic cycle in watershed was characterized by the number of occurrences of floods, landslides, droughts and pollution of water quality. Lesti sub-watershed was part watershed Brantas contained in the upstream sub-watershed is a priority and having problems against land degradation, erosion and landslides. A lot of effort can be done in order to restore the balance of the hydrological cycle in the watershed so that the quality and quantity of water resources are maintained, one of the efforts that can be done is by way of determination of critical areas which will be used as a reference for determining priority areas for the handling. This effort while increasing productivity, income and socio-economic conditions of the people in the uplands. In determining the criticality of land and conservation directives Lesti sub-watershed, needed some supporting data, one of the most important data is the data of land use. To get land use map in the sub-watershed Lesti, one way that can be used is to perform image interpretation ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) obtained from TERRA satellite. The use of ASTER imagery in the identification of land use is feasible by using sub-system VNIR (Visible and Near-Infrared Radiometer), which has a spatial resolution up to 15 meters above the ground.Key words: Topography map, Watershed, ASTER image, Classification, Land Use Map.
