Abstract

Abstract. Quantification of landforms has been executed for most watershed elements and adjacent slopes and some concerning mountains and distribution pattern of land and water. Almost all watershed characteristic are based on the system of stream ordering. Empirically certain statistical relations of landscape elements have been proven to exist beyond doubt like  the laws of stream numbers, stream lengths, stream slopes, drainage basin areas, contributing areas; also: constant of channel maintenance; drainage density and texture ratio; relief ratio; hypsometric integrals for drainage basins and mountains; frequency distribution of stream lengths; maximum valley side slopes. Furthermore, interesting results may be expected from the concepts of geometrical similarity of drainage basins and the distribution pattern of land and water. The good to excellent quality of Indonesian topographic maps invite an immediate investigation of drainage density and texture ratio; hypsometric integral, maximum valley side slopes, and relief ratio in order to obtain quantitative proofs in distinguishing landforms as products of humid tropics from those of the temperate humid/dry climates. Ichtisar.

Abstract

Ichtisar.

Abstract

Abstract. In this paper the changes of the orbital elements of stationary satellites due to meteor-impacts are discussed. From these changes in principle one should be able to draw the conclusion whether or not there exist a correlation between meteor-mass and velocity. It has been shown here, how to detect and estimate an increase in space-density and the velocity-vector of any meteor stream T  which the satellite traverses. Numerical results, however, show that effects of meteor-impacts  can be neglected at all.Ichtisar.

Abstract

Abstract. Let X1, X2, "¦..be a sequence of noncentral t-distributed random variables with parameter θ. In this paper we investigate the limiting behavior of density ratios of X0. This is an example of the family of distributions discussed in [4].Here, we derive the results of David and Kurskall [2] in a slightly more general form and a stronger result is obtained, namely: If θ1 < θ2 are two parameters and Rn(θ1,θ2) is the density ratio of Xn, then there is  Î¸0 such that the limit of Rn is 0 with respect  to θ<θ0 and is ∞  with respect  to θ>θ0. With respect to θ=θ0, the limit infimum is 0 and the limit supermum is ∞. It is also shown that θ0 is between 0 and ½ (θ1+θ2). Ichtisar.

Abstract

Ichtisar. Abstract. Television is vital to the New Emerging Forces nations, and is also a means of strengthening their unity and developing their integrity. Television is also important to a nation facing the challenge of  modern technical development, particularly  in the field of telecommunication. With the advances achieved in Space-Radio Communication, that is radio communication through manmade satellites orbited into outer space, it can be predicted that in the near future, people on earth will not only be able to receive radio broadcasts, but also to watch programs from every country in the world. To face this challenge, Indonesia, in setting up her telecommunication network, must not depend on foreign made instruments. This paper suggests an alternative and less expensive telecommunication network in which potential domestic industries are able to participate. This alternative network is based on a pilot project television relay station on Mount Tangkubanperahu for reception in the Bandung area. This pilot project is the work of the Committee on Television Experimentation. A few basic computation on which the Tangkubanperahu pilot project is based are demonstrated. The proposed television network, are taking advantages of high mountains which are a feature of Indonesian landscape; unfortunately a complete survey has not yet been made. The use of high mountains, however, has logistic consequences, and further study of this aspect is necessary.
