Abstract

Background of the study: Academic environments such as universities have never been separated from the activities of scientific writing. In scientific writing, there is information that needs to be studied through various literature as a basis for writing. Literature as reference material in scientific papers needs to be managed so that it can be included in the bibliographic list according to the applicable rules. Management of bibliographic lists with various writing styles can be helped by using software assistance. Observations made by the authors at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Graduate School Library, many of theses from students are still not appropriate in the procedure for writing the bibliography. So, it becomes a question of how the final level self-awareness of students in the use of citation/reference software.Purpose: Therefore, in this pilot study, the aim was to see and provide an initial description of the final-year students of self-awareness in the use of citations/reference management software.Method: Quantitative methods were used in this study and surveys were conducted to obtain data by adopting and modifying the Self-Awareness Outcomes Questionnaire (SAOQ) to measure student self-awareness.Findings: The results of the survey that have been carried out, the final level students of the Master of Culture and Media Study Program, the Graduate School of UGM have self-awareness in the use of citation/reference software.Conclusion: This researchcan be used as an initial step in further research and a reflection for libraries to always assist students.

Abstract

Background of the study: Social media and housewives have become an inseparable unity, especially in Karawang. Accessing social media is a routine that is always done every day. Existence or self-actualization is the reason housewives have social media accounts, one of the Instagram. The purpose of this study is to determine the motives of housewives have Instagram and to know the forms of interaction and content that are distributed to the public.Purpose: This study aims to determine the impact of the use of Instagram on consumptive behavior of housewives in Karawang.Method: This qualitative research uses a descriptive method by taking a location on a housewife in Karawang.Findings: The motive of housewives using Instagram is quite religious, that is entertainment, selling its business, product, socialization, and self-existence, the form of interaction and content distributed in Instagram is post photo with caption interesting, giving hashtag, and follow the trends in Instagram. The conclusion of this research is through Instagram, the housewife can show their existence to the environment to be seen and accepted well.Conclusion: 1) Instagram is a phenomenal social media among housewives because users are spoiled with various features available on Instagram, 2) the campus provides a large bandwidth so they can access Instagram more easily, and 3) the impact of expanding access to the internet becomes they are more consumptive to do transactions face to face.

Abstract

Background of the study: This research identifies ways of the document management of local oral traditions in Majalengka.Purpose: It aims to uncover how the library has managed the local oral document which intended to preserve the Gaok local content.Method: A qualitative method was implemented by using semi-structured interviews as a data collection technique. The collected data were then analyzed by using Thematic Analysis, which generates three themes related to the research questions. The themes are Motivation, Document Management, and Dissemination Planning. Findings: Motivation describes the background of the initiative by managing the Gaok Oral Documents. While the second theme, Document Management, portrays the effort taken by the library in managing the documents, that include retrieving information about Gaok, writing its resume, and disseminate the information. Finally, the third theme,  Dissemination Plan, describing the library strategic plans on disseminating and implementing their strategy of the Gaok Documents locally and nationally. The library believes that by managing the Gaok Oral Documents effectively, this local tradition will keep alive and known and hopefully preserved by the future generations.Conclusion: This study reflects how a library plays an important role in managing and preserving local culture.

Abstract

Background of the study: Indonesia is a country whose the largest number of Muslims in the world.  Every year, many Indonesian Muslims come to Mecca to perform hajj pilgrimage. In order to improve pilgrimage activity, Government and society need exact information about that. The librarian can take an important role in order to supply information about hajj pilgrimage.Purpose: The aim of research is explaining description and information about Indonesian hajj pilgrims through a collection of rare newspapers in the National Library of Indonesia.Method: The method used in this research is a descriptive research method. Author analyzes twenty two newspapers in National Library. Having been analyzed, the information obtained is interpreted by historical approach.Findings: The result of this research is that the author finds out 22 newspapers which contains information of hajj pilgrims. The information is qualitative data on the amount of hajj pilgrims and ships, the expense of hajj pilgrimage, the experience of hajj pilgrims, the problem faced by hajj pilgrims and government policy in controlling hajj pilgrims.Conclusion: In this paper, the author argues that rare newspaper collection contains many information about the activity of the hajj pilgrimage during Dutch colonial period.

Abstract

Background of the study: The paradigm shift in the management of scientific journals from print to electronic also has an impact on accreditation policies that were initially oriented towards print scientific periodicals to the accreditation of electronic-based scientific journals.Purpose: This study aims to identify and explain the traditions and innovations in the management of accredited scientific education journals in PTKIN.Method: This research is a qualitative research with the type of field research with the orientation of empirical data collection in the field. The researcher directly reviews the documents related to management, and observes the physical / non-physical facilities used in the management of scientific journals.Findings: The results showed that of the 9 (Nine) accredited education journals of PTKIN before 2018, the most widely cited is Dinamika Ilmu Journal, amounting to 251 (two hundred fifty one) times. This has happened because Dinamika Ilmu Journal has entered the age of 18 (eighteen) years. While the Edukasia Journal is the least quoted, which is 5 (five) times. Even though the age of Edukasia Journal enters the 13th (thirteenth) year.Conclusion: From the 9 (nine) journals, only the Edukasia Journal still maintains to use the Indonesian full text even though it has been nationally accredited. While Edusains Journal, JPI Journal, Tarbiya Journal, and the Dinamika Ilmu Journal use English full text. This was done in order to support the vision of going international for his journals.

Abstract

Background of the study: the use of the YouTube platform as a medium for learning information literacy in students.Purpose: to find out the implementation and use of the YouTube platform as a learning medium to help students understand information literacy.Method: Using a qualitative descriptive method with the analysis of the Miles and Huberman model approach, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.Findings: Using YouTube as an information literacy learning media helps students understand information literacy material, this can be seen from the average access to information literacy material above 5000 times.Conclusion: YouTube can be used as a medium for learning information literacy even though it is a supplement or supplement.Â
