Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify entomopathogenic fungi associated with green leafhopper (Nephotetix virescens) and to determine its virulence toward N. viresnes mortality. The indicators of pathogenicity were symptoms, time of symptom appeared, and mortality of green leafhopper after inoculation of the entomopathogenic fungi. The research was conducted in three phases. The first phase was collecting green leafhopper infected by entomopathogenic fungi in the field. The second phase was isolation, inoculation, and re-isolation of entomopathogenic fungi from the infected green leafhopper (wereng). The third was pathogenicity assay conducted in the Laboratory of Plant Pest and Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. The research was conducted for four months from February to May 2010.  Five isolates of entomopathogenic fungi were collected in Donggala Regency: Metharizium sp., Asperigillus sp., Beauveria sp., Cladosporium sp. and Fusarium sp. Two isolates were found potential as entomopathogenic             fungi: Metarhizium sp. and Beauveria sp. Mortality of nimpha green leafhopper (wereng hijau) caused by both fungi were 80.75%, and 80.25% respectively.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of factors such as land, fertilizer, labor and seed on the production of corn farming, as well as the amount of income derived from it. The experiment was conducted in the Sindue Subdistrict Donggala Regency. The research location was purposively determined with consideration that it is the center of corn production. Respondent sample were chosen using a simple random sampling technique. The number of respondents were 30 corn farmers. Data of the production factors was analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas while income data from corn farming using analysis of the revenue. Analysis results showed that the production factors including land, fertilizer, labor and seeds simultaneously had significant effect on corn production. The t test also showed significant effect of land, fertilizers and seeds partially on the corn production while labor was not significant. Farmers' income generated from the corn farming per hectare per cropping season was IDR 1.521.515,66.                                             Key Words : Corn farming, income, production.

Abstract

The research aimed to analyze the effect of the use of production factors such as land, seed, manure, ZA fertilizer, TSP fertilizer, KCL fertilizer and pesticide and to analyze the economic and technical efficiency of factors affecting chili farming in Girikulon village, Secang district, Magelang regency. The method used in this research was survey. The research was conducted in January-February 2019 in Girikulon Village, Secang District, Magelang regency. The location of the research was selected purposively. Samples were taken using a probability sampling technique on 33 farmers who exclusively practiced monoculture chili cultivation. Data was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis method transformed into the Cobb-Douglas model production function and analysis of technical efficiency and economic. The economic efficiency tested employed a different sample analysis (one sample T test). The results showed that the use of production factors i.e. land, seed, labor, manure, ZA fertilizer and pesticide simultaneously had significant effect on the yields while the other factors such as TSP and KCL fertilizer had no significant effect on the yield. The use of land, KCL fertilizer and pesticide was technically and economically not efficient. Keywords: Chili, Efficiency and Factors Of Production.

Abstract

Forest conversion has caused carbon stock to decrease, both in vegetation/crop and in soil.  This research aimed to determine the impact of forest conversion to cocoa land use on vegetation and soil carbon stock in Nopu watershed Central Sulawesi. Results of the research showed that the forest conversion to cocoa land use has led to carbon stock decrease both in vegetation and in soil. The carbon stock has yet to fully recover in the 12 years old cacao plantation under agro-forestry system

Abstract

This studyaimed todetermine the influence of P fertilizer on the growth of mycorrizhal rubber seedlings (Havea brasilliensis. Muell, Arg) of PB 260 stum eye clones. The research was carried out in Pagaranri Pargarutan Village, East Angkola Sub District, South Tapanuli District, North Sumatera. It was conducted during January to April 2012 and arranged ina randomized block design with five rates of P fertilizeras treatments i.e 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 g plant-1. The results showed that the effect of P fertilizer was not significant on plant height, stem diameter, number of stems and leaf area but significant on dry weight of roots. Highest root weight was 472.69 mg found inno P fertilizer treatment with the my cor rizhal infection rate was 100%. This infection rate was the same with that in the 5 g P fertilizer rate treatment.

Abstract

This study aimedto determinemarketing channels, marketing margins, part of the price received by producers,and marketing efficiency of ornamental red bud plants at Kembang Sari business. There were three channels found for marketing of the ornamental red bud (Oleina Syzygium) plants. The marketing marginsat the first channel for small, medium and large size of the flowers were IDR 20,000, IDR 20,000, and IDR 30,000, respectively, whereas for the second channel the margins were IDR 10,000, IDR 10,000, and IDR 20,000, respectively. The third channel had no margin due to none of marketing agencies involved.  The part of price generated by the producers for the three sizes of the plants at the first channel were 60%, 71.4% and 76.9%, respectively and at the second channel were 75%, 83.3% and 83.3%, respectively, whereas at the third channel, it was 100% for all sizes of the plants.  The marketing efficiencies for the three marketing channels were 16.19%, 24.60% and 19.00%, respectively. Keywords: Marketing channel, and Ornamental plants.

Abstract

Land use changes from forest to agricultural farms have been incessantly occurring in Indonesia. This condition will have harmful effects on nature equilibrium if uncontrolled. Forest can effectively absorbed carbon, in contrast deforestation will result in the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere. The research results indicated that significant carbon losses have taken place due to forest changes to agricultural farms.  Agro-forestry system can lessen these losses from vegetation, litter, soil and due to soil erosion. Agricultural farm with maize and peanut produced lower carbon than forest and vanilla agro-forestry.

Abstract

In Indonesia, low soil P availability is the major constraint in upland area.  Therefore, it is needed to find soybean varieties with characters efficient in P and high yield.  The objective of this study was to evaluate P uptake, P efficiency, yield, morphological and physiological characters for selection of P efficient varieties.  A Randomized Completely Block design was used with three replications.  Seven varieties i.e. local, Slamet, Leuser, L1 503, S1 131(2), SL3 113(6), S1 053 and P applications i.e. without P and 36 kg P2O5 ha-1 were tested.  Some variables such as plant height, shoot weight, leaf number, branch number, filled and unfilled of pod number, grain weight, P content, P uptake and efficiency were analyzed.  Data was analysis by F test and followed by DMRT.  The results showed that there were different responses on P uptake among genotypes under low P condition. Slamet, S1 053, SL3 113 (6) and Leuser had characters of high potential of yield and efficient in P uptake under P stress.  Some characters could be used for variety selection of P efficient with high yield i.e. shoot and grain weight, and P efficiency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different varieties of cabbages and organic mulches on cabbage growth. The research was carried out in the Langaleso Village, District of Dolo from October to December 2012. This study used a Randomized Block Design in two factorial experiment. The first factor was the mulch consisted of control, rice husk, rice straw, and sawdust. The second factor was the variety of cabbage consisted of Grand 11 and Grand 22. There fore, there were 8 treatment combinations, each combination was repeated 4 times to obtain 32 unit experiments.  The use of rice straw mulch resulted in better plant heightthan control, while the use of sawdust mulch produced larger leaf area and leaf number compared to control. The grand 11 varietyhad higher plant height at 22, 29, 36 and 43 days after plantingcompared to the 22 grand variety. The mulch additionand the cabbage variety showed no interaction effect on the growth      of cabbage. Key Words : Cabbage, growth, mulching, and variety.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan strategi pengembangan usahatani nilam di Kecamatan Batudaka. Tempat penelitian ditentukan secara sengaja (purposive) dengan pertimbangan bahwa Kecamatan Batudaka merupakan salah satu kecamatan di kepulauan yang mengembangkan nilam di Kabupaten Tojo Una-una. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode sampel acak sederhana (simple randon sampling methode) masing-masing 15% dari populasi petani nilam di tiga desa. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 28 responden. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis SWOT. Hasil Analisis SWOT menunjukkan bahwa usahatani nilam berada pada posisi kuadran I (mendukung strategi Agresif) dengan strategi SO (Strenghts-Opportunities). Program atau aktivitas yang diusulkan untuk dilaksanakan, meliputi: (1). Mengoptimalkan sumber daya lahan dalam upaya peningkatan produksi, (2). Memanfaatkan peran Kelompok Tani dalam upaya pengembangan strategi pemasaran, (3). Menggerakkan petani untuk berfikir dan bertindak dalam melaksanakan sesuatu yang lebih baik dan menguntungkan dalam upaya peningkatan produktifitas Usahatani Nilam  dalam menjamin kontinuitas produksi, (4). Mengembangkan bibit Lokal yang unggul Melalui dukungan Pemerintah Kata Kunci : Nilam, Pengembangan Strategi, dan SWOT.
