Abstract

This study aims to analyze the physical, geotechnical, hydrological, and mineralogical properties of soil, as well as the presence of slip surfaces and their influence on the landslide potential of "dusung" land resulting from rock mining activities on the slopes of hills within the Wai Sikula watershed, Ambon Island. The research was conducted at rock mining sites in the Wai Sikula watershed, Negeri Hatu, Leihitu Barat District, Central Maluku Regency, from February to April 2026. The methods employed in this study include field surveys and observations at landslide points, along with laboratory analysis of soil samples. The results indicate that the soil characteristics influencing "dusung" land landslides due to rock mining include high bulk density (1.73 g/cm³), high particle density (2.57 g/cm³), high soil porosity (63.62%), rapid infiltration rate, low plastic limit (37.98%), low internal friction angle (17°), low shear strength indicating high landslide vulnerability (0.018 kg/cm²), and low cohesion (-0.005 kg/cm²), all of which increase the risk of landslides. The study area is composed of volcanic breccia and tuffaceous sandstone with steep slope conditions. Weak geotechnical and hydrological soil characteristics contribute significantly to the occurrence of "dusung" land landslides in the rock mining areas of the Wai Sikula watershed, Ambon Island. Abstract

The use of botanical seeds, better known as True Shallot Seed (TSS), as a seed source for shallot production has technical and economic standards to support the development of shallots in the Bangka Belitung Islands. This research was conducted in a farmer's garden in Central Bangka Regency, with coordinates 2°13'02"S 106°09'49"E at an altitude of 50-100 meters above sea level from June to September 2024. This study aimed to determine the boron dose and BAP concentration in increasing the flowering percentage and TSS production in Bangka Belitung. This experiment used shallots bulbs of the Bima Brebes variety with an experimental design in the form of a two-factor randomized block split plot, where the first factor was the boron dose consisting of three levels, namely 0 kg ha-1 (B0), 1 kg ha-1 (B1) and 2 kg ha-1 (B3). The second factor of this study is the BAP concentration with 4 levels, namely 0 ppm (P1), 50 ppm (P2), 100 ppm (P3), and 150 ppm (P4). Each treatment was repeated five times, so that there were 60 experimental units with the number of plants in each treatment combination being 9 plants, so that the total number of plants was 540 plants. The results of the study showed an interaction between boron and BAP on the parameters of fresh tuber weight and number of seeds per bulb. Boron application at a dose of 2 kg ha-1 was able to increase the fresh weight of bulbs, the number of seeds per bulb and the number of capsules per bulb in shallot plants of the Bima Brebes variety in the lowlands of the Bangka Belitung Islands. BAP treatment did not actually affect the overall observations in this study.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of diazotrophic endophytic bacteria inoculation in liquid and microbeads formulations on the vegetative growth of maize (Zea mays L.). The experiment was conducted from September 2025 to March 2026 at the Soil Biology Laboratory and Ciparanje Experimental Field, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran. The study used a Randomized Block Design consisting of seven treatments and four replications. Treatments included liquid and microbeads biofertilizers containing Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus strain GD 3-1, Paraburkholderia sp. strain GD 12-2, and their consortium. Observed parameters included plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, intensity of plant pest disturbance, and stem endophytic bacterial population. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the Scott-Knott test at a 5% significance level using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 21. The results showed that biofertilizer application significantly affected maize growth at the late vegetative stage. Liquid formulation of G. diazotrophicus produced the highest plant height at 8 weeks after planting, while microbeads formulation showed more stable growth responses during the observation period. Biofertilizer treatments also increased leaf area and stem endophytic bacterial population compared with the control treatment. In addition, inoculated plants showed better tolerance to pest attacks during the vegetative stage. Overall, the application of diazotrophic endophytic bacteria, particularly G. diazotrophicus, demonstrated potential to improve maize vegetative growth and support sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

Torbangun is a functional plant derived from vegetable plants that can increase breast milk production and reduce cholesterol so that it has the potential as a source of lactogagum and antihyperlipidemia. Bioactive compounds in torbangun leaves that act as a source of lactogagum and antihyperlipidemia are flavonoids and saponins. The torbangun plant that is consumed is the leaf part. The development of torbangun in the manufacture of medical simplicia standards is constrained by the best harvest time. The purpose of the study was to determine the best torbangun harvest time to achieve optimal metabolic production. The method used was a Randomized Block Design with a single factor, namely harvest time. Harvest time consists of 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 WAP (Weeks After Planting). Each treatment was repeated 4 times, so there were 20 experimental units. The results showed that the torbangun harvest time of 8 WAP produced a total flavonoid concentration of 10.00 mg QE g-1 DB, the harvest time of 24 WAP produced 12.30 mg of saponin g-1 DB total saponin concentration and the harvest time of 20 WAP produced a quercetin concentration of 3.46 mg g-1 DB.

Abstract

Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important legume crop with high economic value, widely used for food consumption and industrial raw materials. Optimizing cultivation techniques is essential to improve its growth and yield. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of plant spacing and frequency of biofertilizer application on the growth and yield performance of peanut plants. The experiment was conducted using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: plant spacing (30 × 20 cm, 30 × 25 cm, and 30 × 30 cm) and frequency of biofertilizer application (three and four applications). Each treatment combination was replicated three times. Observed parameters included plant height, flowering time, harvesting time, number of filled pods per plant, dry pod weight, number of filled seeds per plant, and seed weight per plant. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% significance level. The results showed that no interaction occurred between plant spacing and biofertilizer application frequency for all observed parameters. However, plant spacing of 30 cm × 25 cm and four applications of biofertilizer consistently produced better growth and yield components compared to other treatments. These findings indicate that appropriate plant spacing combined with an optimal frequency of biofertilizer application can enhance peanut productivity by improving soil microorganism activity and nutrient availability.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the interaction and effects of Pseudomonas fluorescens and red onion filtrate as a natural plant growth regulator (PGR) on the growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). The experiment used a two-factor factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was P. fluorescens concentration (0%, 1%, and 2% v/v from a 108 CFU/mL stock), and the second factor was red onion filtrate concentration (0%, 25%, 50%, and 75% w/v). Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at α = 5%. The results revealed that both single factors and their interactions significantly affected all observed parameters. The combination of 2% P. fluorescens and 75% red onion filtrate (P3M4) produced the highest vegetative characteristics, resulting in a plant height of 223.63 cm and 64.67 leaves at 35 DAP. However, for generative parameters, the application of 2% P. fluorescens combined with 50% red onion filtrate (P3M3) showed no statistically significant difference from the higher concentration in accelerating flowering time (18.00 days) and increasing fruit weight (393.17 g). In conclusion, the synergistic application of P. fluorescens and red onion filtrate significantly enhances both vegetative and generative performance of cucumber. For production efficiency, the P3M3 formulation is recommended for practical field applications.
