Abstract

Abstract

The development of technology has experienced many advances, one of which is the processing of chemical compounds into drugs that can cure various diseases. However, the use of chemical drugs is considered to have side effects on health so that people switch to herbal medicines that are more natural and have minimal side effects such as the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA). Pagarawan Village is one of the villages that has great potential to be developed as a family medicinal plant (TOGA) producing village. The main problem faced by the community of Pagarawan Village, Merawang Subdistrict, Bangka Regency is the lack of knowledge about the types of plants that have medicinal properties. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education through the introduction and utilization of home yards for TOGA and TOGA Labeling. Family medicinal plants (TOGA) are plants that have benefits and properties that are good for health and are planted in the yard to meet family medicinal needs. The purpose of this activity is to provide education and understanding to the community about the utilization of yard land as a place for planting TOGA in order to provide family herbal medicine. This activity was carried out on August 16, 2021 to October 25, 2021, located in Pagarawan Village, Merawang District, Bangka Regency. This community service activity involves various parties including Pagarawan Village Office Employees, Merawang District, Bangka Regency, the community and KKN students. The activity began with the utilization of an empty yard located behind the Pagarawan Village Office. This is because the Village Office is one of the community service centers, so it is expected to be an example for the local community. The availability of TOGA in Pagarawan Village is expected to help the community in utilizing TOGA for health.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between ethnic diversity and the management practices and productivity of lowland rice farming in South Bangka Regency. The region's multi-ethnic composition—comprising Malay, Javanese, Bugis, and other ethnic groups—offers a unique context to explore how cultural backgrounds influence agricultural decisions and outcomes. Using a mixed-methods approach involving field surveys, in-depth interviews, and productivity data analysis, the study identifies key differences in land preparation, input usage, labor organization, and post-harvest handling across ethnic groups. The findings reveal that ethnic-based variations in farming knowledge and social capital significantly affect productivity levels. The study concludes by recommending culturally tailored agricultural extension strategies to improve rice productivity in ethnically diverse communities.

Abstract

The use of botanical seeds, better known as True Shallot Seed (TSS), as a seed source for shallot production has technical and economic standards to support the development of shallots in the Bangka Belitung Islands. This research was conducted in a farmer's garden in Central Bangka Regency, with coordinates 2°13'02"S 106°09'49"E at an altitude of 50-100 meters above sea level from June to September 2024. This study aimed to determine the boron dose and BAP concentration in increasing the flowering percentage and TSS production in Bangka Belitung. This experiment used shallots bulbs of the Bima Brebes variety with an experimental design in the form of a two-factor randomized block split plot, where the first factor was the boron dose consisting of three levels, namely 0 kg ha-1 (B0), 1 kg ha-1 (B1) and 2 kg ha-1 (B3). The second factor of this study is the BAP concentration with 4 levels, namely 0 ppm (P1), 50 ppm (P2), 100 ppm (P3), and 150 ppm (P4). Each treatment was repeated five times, so that there were 60 experimental units with the number of plants in each treatment combination being 9 plants, so that the total number of plants was 540 plants. The results of the study showed an interaction between boron and BAP on the parameters of fresh tuber weight and number of seeds per bulb. Boron application at a dose of 2 kg ha-1 was able to increase the fresh weight of bulbs, the number of seeds per bulb and the number of capsules per bulb in shallot plants of the Bima Brebes variety in the lowlands of the Bangka Belitung Islands. BAP treatment did not actually affect the overall observations in this study.
