Abstract

This study aims to find out how murals are a medium for public criticism of the policies made by the Denpasar City government and how the Denpasar City government responds to murals as a critical medium. So far, murals are still considered as a form of public protest whose voices cannot be heard by state officials. Therefore, by making murals in strategic areas, mural creators hope that their views on politics can become a public awareness. Thus, the mural object can give attention to the political views made by the mural creator. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The researcher uses this type of associative research with the reason that this research studies the influence or relationship of a state's responsiveness to phenomena that develop in society.

Abstract

This study seeks to see the involvement of the Catholic Church in the feminism agenda through its congregations. Indeed, feminism has entered the body of the Catholic Church since the Vatican Council II. The council has produced documents that show concern for the position of women. VIVAT International – Indonesia, which was initiated by SVD, is a concrete form of the participation of the Catholic Church in the agenda of seeking gender equality. VIVAT International – Indonesia has succeeded in advocating and protecting victims of violence and trafficking in women. By using qualitative research methods, the author tries to narrate in detail the data obtained from the sources. Then, draw a common thread from the findings in the field with Rosemary Radford Ruether's feminist theology theory. VIVAT International – Indonesia as an extension of the Catholic Church has succeeded in reconstructing the concept of imago de'i; Humans are created equal in the likeness and image of God. However, this does not necessarily mean that the Catholic Church can be fully involved in the genderrelated agenda. This is because the Catholic Church collides with the patriarchal reality which is already inherent in the body of the church itself.

Abstract

This study aims to determine community participation during the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2020 Simalungun Regent election. The data obtained uses informant interviews that can provide accurate explanations and literature study techniques collect data in the form of data sources, references or documents that are important and relevant to the research. The results showed that there was an increase in community participation even during the Covid-19 pandemic due to various indicators, namely the political awareness of the people of Simalungun regency aware of their rights and responsibilities so that the community was willing to participate in the election. Second, the strength of candidates, people tend to participate in elections because of the candidates they have won. Third, the socialization of the KPU as the organizer in the 2020 regent and deputy regent elections is an important factor because the implementation of the 2020 elections is different from previous years. Abstract

The focus of this study aims to find out how the implementation of the Golkar Party's policies related to the election of the Dairi Regent to become the Golkar Chair of Dairi Regency in the IXth Regional Deliberation Session in 2020. Furthermore, this research is framed using the Rational Choice Theory from James S. Coleman to look at the preferences of actors to support individuals or groups with various goals. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method using primary data and secondary data, because in this study trying to describe the rationality factors that could lead to Airlangga Hartarto's support for Eddy Keleng Ate Berutu in the IXth Regional Deliberation Session of the Golkar Party of Dairi Regency in 2020. The result of this research is the existence of a discretionary policy letter from Airlangga Hartarto to Eddy Keleng Ate Berutu to achieve the desired goal in the election of the Chairman of the DPD II Golkar Party Dairi.

Abstract

There has been a long silence in Indonesia’s education system and policy on whether schools should establish clear sexuality education policies. Although there was an advancement of the brand-new Decree of Minister of Education named Permendikbud no 30/ 2021 on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Educational Institution, it has been ambiguous whether the state urge schools to prevent such by establishing a sexuality education policy. I argue that this policy inaction leads to drawbacks for the state’s policy on body and sexuality. This paper uses a literature review to structure some concepts on social policy and the complexity of sex-related issues. It conducts a literature review as a method as well, to serve some understanding of two cases in Aceh and Yogyakarta and explores similarities and differences across the cases. Finally, the discussions offer a few points on the intended and unintended effects of the policy inaction, which are seen through some perspectives on child protection, power struggle, and rights approach.

Abstract

This research was attemped to resolve the implementation of Covid-19 medical waste management policies in Mataram, Nusa Tenggara Barat. The research entitled “The Politics of Covid-19 Medical Waste Management in Mataram, NTB in 2020-2021” observed the role of political actors at executive and legislative institutions in successing the implementation of the policies. However, the theory applied in analyzing this research is Rational Choice Theory by James S Coleman. Rational Choice Theory focused on the efforts of political actors in establishing the policies with the reinforcements of entire available resources to succeed the implementation of the policies. Moreover, the research method was descriptive qualitative by obtaining primary and secondary data. The data were obtain by interviews and related literature reviews. Further more, the results of the research showed that the roles of political actors at Public Health Office Mataram, Environment Department Mataram, Environment Department Mataram, and DPRD Commission V in implementing the policies were considered to be improved. Otherwise, the numbers of budget fund allocation, infrastructure development, waste transportation service, and incinerators were considered to be increased and optimized in order to accomplish the implementation of Covid-19 medical waste management policies run successfully.

Abstract

Education is a right for all people in Indonesia which makes the next government responsible for the implementation of free education in their respective regions. The emergence of the COVID- 19 pandemic and the enactment of the lockdown made the community's space to move very limited and had a very negative impact on economic conditions in Indonesia, especially for areas that depend on the tourism sector such as Badung Regency. This condition of course affects the implementation of policies in all sectors, including in terms of free education at the junior high school level which is the responsibility of the Badung Regency Government in carrying out its obligations to participate in the intellectual life of the nation. However, despite the pandemic situation, Badung Regency continues to implement the free education policy in its territory, despite all the limitations and changes that must be made to adapt. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the conflict and analyze the factors causing the conflict of division between the Banjar Adat Kubu and the Banjar Adat Graha Canthi Karagasem. The surgical instrument used in this study is the conflict stage theory proposed by Simon Fisher. The stages of conflict are used to find out how the escalation of the conflict took place and what were the factors causing the division conflict in the Banjar adat Kubu and Banjar Adat Graha Canthi. This research uses qualitative methods through interviews, field observations and documentation. The theory of conflict stages consists of the pre-conflict stage, the confrontation stage, the crisis stage, the effect stage and the post-conflict stage. Through the stages of conflict, the researchers found several factors that caused the division conflict in the Kubu Banjar adat and the Graha Canthi adat Banjar including structural factors, interest factors, human relations factors, and finally the data factor.

Abstract

In 2019, the General Election Commission (KPU) implemented a new system in a democratic party, namely concurrent general elections (pemilu), which means that the public can hold parliamentary elections (Pileg) and presidential election (Pilpres) at the same time in April. 17, 2019. Concurrent elections in 2019 have become a form of democratic party as well as an attempt to strengthen the presidential system in Indonesia, as presidential and vice-presidential candidates are no bound to establish the presidential threshold mechanism. As the title mentioned by the author, this documentary research paper aims to describe the 2019 concurrent elections probably can influence the presidential system in Indonesia by gathering opinions. knowledge from a number of books and articles that raise discussions regarding general elections and the presidential system.

Abstract

Muslims in Europe and North America face high levels of discrimination and hostility. This happens because of the consequences of this on the political attitudes of Muslims. Muslims personally experiencing discrimination exhibit higher anti-system tendencies: more supportive of violence, more supportive of Islamism, and less supportive of democracy and secularism. We also find that these patterns exist within a class of Muslims who believe they are “suffering themselves”, not believing that other Muslims experience similar hostility. Finally, through preliminary experiments, we found causal evidence that German Chancellor Angela Merkel's inclusive rhetoric and policies towards Muslims can help reduce this dynamic, reduce perceptions of discrimination, and in turn generate pro-system sentiment.
