Abstract

Heat exchanger is a device that serves to change temperature and the phase of fluid. By utilizing heat transfer between two fluids with different temperature from the higher temperature fluid to a lower temperature fluid. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition aluminum fins and dimensional variations on the effectiveness shell and tube heat exchanger. Heat Exchanger was tested by varying the dimensions of the aluminum fins on the tube from the tube without fins, fin tube with a length of 10 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm. Tests carried out in counter flow so that the heat transfer rate will be better than the directional flow. Of the test will come out hot fluid temperature and cold fluid temperature out. The results showed decreases in the rate of heat transfer fins greater dimension and the dimension of the highest effectiveness without fins. The highest effectiveness is 25.85% in tube without fins. It can be concluded that the addition of fin in this research will reduce the effectiveness of the heat exchanger shell and tube type. Keywords: Aluminum, effectiveness, fin dimension, heat exchanger

Abstract

Banyak kesulitan dihadapi pada pemesinan lubang kecil. Terutama jika prosesnya dilakukan dengan proses drilling mekanik. Untuk mengatasi kendala yang dihadapi, proses pemesinan non-tradisional seringkali diterapkan. Tulisan ini melaporkan hasil studi pemesinan lubang kecil (diameter kurang dari 1 mm) menggunakan EDM die sinker. Lubang dibuat pada aluminium dengan ketebalan 3 mm. Kawat tembaga berdiameter kurang dari 1 mm dipergunakan sebagai elektroda. Untuk menghindari keausan elektroda yang berlebihan, pemesinan dilakukan dengan menggunakan parameter yang menghasilkan energi rendah. Pemilihan parameter ini juga dimaksudkan untuk mendapatkan kualitas lubang yang baik. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap kualitas lubang yang dihasilkan. Selain itu studi juga dilakukan pada pengaruh parameter pemesinan terhadap keausan elektroda dan waktu pemesinan. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa lubang dengan diameter kurang dari 1 mm berhasil dibuat dengan mesin EDM die sinker. Waktu yang diperlukan untuk pemesinan berkisar antara 5 – 6 menit. Lubang yang dihasilkan memiliki kebulatan yang relative baik dan permukaan yang tajam. Peningkatan energi pemesinan menambah keausan elektroda dan memperpanjang waktu pemesinan.   Keywords: EDM, small hole, drilling, electrode wear

Abstract

Fuel temperature has effect due to engine performance. This research is aimed to get the effect of cross section heating area with radiator heat due to performance of gasoline engine. The experiments are conduct in Toyota Kijang 5K gasoline engine. The radiator heat is use to raise the fuel temperature by 8 mm diameter copper pipe. The pipe is varied as round, oval and nearly flat. Fuel flow channel is place in the heat pipe with 900 mm of length which placed at upper tank of the radiator.  The engine rotation speed is varied as 750, 1250, 1750 and 2250 rpm. Unheated fuel is use as a control. The research result shows the agreement that fuel temperature has effect due to fuel consumption. Abstract

The problem of waste plastics (especially bottled water brand) and relatively low economic community have a significant impact on the life of the country, and also feared that would contaminate the plastic debris environment, it would seem that negative behavior due to low economic level such as theft, robbery, forgery, trafficking in children, malnutrition, and others.This study aims to identify the scavenger desire in relation to the increase in value of mineral water plastic packaging waste to improve their living standards by the method of Quality Function Deployment (QFD). Method of Value Engineering (VE) was used to obtain the basic functions (primary function) in realizing the desire scavengers who have the technical requirements. Scavenger's desire in the plastic processing waste in this study is able to process the waste plastic in a way that is cheap and efficient. Technical terms on the plastic waste crusher machine developed is about, install and step off, engine capacity, number of components, standard tools, power machines, knife cut, the price of the machine. The knife cut to plastic waste crusher machine there are three options, which made a total of high carbon steel (most expensive), high carbon steel that was inserted on the low carbon steel holder (medium), and a high carbon steel electrode welded on low carbon steel holder (least expensive). The results of 30 scavenger in the city of Malang is the scavenger desire of low-cost machines (83.33%) and the machine capacity is not too large (73.33%). From the percentage of the two wishes are then carried out the product development of plastic waste crusher machine in the price of Rp 3.9 million, crushed capacity of 10 kg / hour.

Abstract

Automotive charging system provide vehicle’s electricity consumption and battery charging. Common regulator has unstable voltage output. This research is aimed to compare the performance of common and electronic regulator. Electronic regulator designed with an AVR ATMega8 microcontroller and 16 x 2 matrix LCD. The devices are tested in the charging system of Toyota Kijang 5K automotive engine by measuring alternator voltage output using voltmeter. The engine is running at 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 rpm. The measurements are taken three times for 300 seconds with 30 second interval. The result shows that the average voltage output of electronic regulator increase faster at 0 until 30 second measurement period. The result also shows that electronic regulator has more stable voltage output which is 14,45 Volt. The overall comparison study shows that electronic regulator has better performance than common regulator.

Abstract

The acceleration of economic growth in the region is supported by the potential of sectoral support the local economy in which one sector is tourism. The development of tourism has an important role for the development of an area, and evenly expand  and employment opportunities, encouraging the development of local, regional and national income increase in order to improve the welfare and prosperity of the community. Stone City is one city where the tourism destination which is Tourism Songgoriti. The potential is very supportive in the growth of the real economy both in terms of products and services. Structuring economic support infrastructure around the holidays can be a priority so that regional economic growth is expected to not only provide opportunities for people with middle and upper economic level but more in favor of increasing the value of the benefit to the surrounding community. To support a more targeted policy measures, especially for the Holidays Songgoriti, it would require an identification of potential research activity in particular economic and business prospects around the area of ​​service quality attributes identified tourism areas Songgoriti desired by consumers (consumer expectations) and how consumer perceptions of attributes -attributes by field survey methods and questionnaires to the respondents who are consumers who have traveled to Songgoiti. Abstract

The study was conducted to obtain information about the characteristics of fluid flow that touches the surface of the bluff body.  Bluff body in the form of circular and elliptical cylinders  and brought near a wall. Phenomenon found is used to predict the aerodynamic loads on the bluff body and leads to a drag reduction efforts.Elliptic cylinder and circular cylinder are arranged in tandem position with longitudinal distance (L/D = 1.5) and gap distance variation (G/D) between cylinders and  flat wall are 0.067, 0.133, 0.2, 0.267. Fluid flow characteristics investigated experimentally on open loop wind tunnel. The experimental results are used to explain flow interaction phenomenoum which is resulted coefficient pressure distribution (Cp) on the cylinder, on the flat wall and velocity distribution on the upstream and downstream. The placement of the elliptic cylinder at G/D = 0.267 exhibits the lowest drag. The whole research was done on the Reynolds number 53574 based on circular cylinder diameter. Abstract

Composite sandwich reinforcement  kenaf fiber polyester with Styrofoam core is an alternative material that has the potential to be developed as an application in various fields with an excess of nature that is strong, lightweight, rigid, able to withstand bending loads, impact, vibration damping and sound. This study is intended to overcome the problems of fishermen Muncar - Banyuwangi in the selection of materials manufacture of safe fish robust and insulated to preserve or maintain the freshness of the fish catch of fishermen low temperature. This study was conducted to determine the effect of variations in fiber volume fraction of the increase in impact strength and bending composite materials sandwich.Untuk get impact strength values ​​using the tool impact test with a maximum capacity of 300 joules specifications, pendulum mass of 20.9 kg, 0.83 m long pendulum arm, while to obtain bending strength values ​​using a universal testing machine capacity of 300 KN. Variations were used in this study is the percentage of fiber volume fraction of 10% fiber, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The results showed that the variation of fiber volume fraction of 40% had values ​​higher impact strength and bending of 0.30 Joules / mm² and 5,65MPa than the fiber volume fraction of 10% has impact and bending strength values ​​were lower at 0.14 joules / mm2 and 0.30 MPa. So in this study limits the variation of fiber volume fraction of 10% to 40% proved that if the greater the percentage of fiber volume fraction value will increase the value of impact strength and bending in composite sandwich. Abstract

The optimization technique of machining parameters considering multiple performance characteristics of non conventional machining EDM process using Taguchi method combined with fuzzy logic is presented in this study. ST 42 steel was chosen as material workpiece and graphite as electrode during this experiment. Performance characteristics such as material removal rate and overcut are selected to evaluated the effect of machining parameters. Current, pulse on time, pulse off time and discharging time/ Z down were selected as machining parameters. The experiments was conducted by varying that maching parameters in three different levels. Based on the Taguchi quality design concept, a L27 orthogonal array table was chosen for the experiments. By using the combination of fuzzy logic and Taguchi, the optimization of complicated multiple performance characteristics was transformed into the optimization of a single response performance index. Optimal levels of machining parameters were identified by using fuzzy logic method. The statistical application of analysis of variance was used to determine the relatively significant machining parameters. The result of confirmation test indicted that the determined optimal combination of machining parameters effectively improve the performance characteristics of the machining EDM process on ST 42 steel. Abstract

Radar SSR (Secondary Surveillance Radar) is an equipment to detect and determine the position and target data around him actively, where the plane took active if it receives the RF signal emitted secondary radar. In this study aims (1) to design a prototype omnidirectional microstrip patches array for applications Radar SSR (Secondary Surveillance Radar) according to the characteristics of the antenna by using the software High Frequency Structure Simulator version 13 (HFSS v13) that operate at a frequency of 1030-1090 MHz and get characteristics of the antenna such as Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR), the radiation pattern and gain (2) Implement the design of antenna omnidirectional microstrip patches array into physical form and measure VSWR, gain and radiation pattern characteristics of the prototype has been created and analyzed the characteristics Between desaian antenna with the prototype antenna that has been made. This research method using the rectangular microstrip patches dimensional array to determine the size of the microstrip antenna array patches and simulated using HFSS v13 software. The results of the analysis parameters pacth microstrip antenna array in HFSS v13 Software demonstrate the value of Ref. AMPL his 40.950739 dB, the analysis results pacth microstrip antenna array using the software HFSS v13 obtained gain value by achieving -29dB, and the results of the analysis, the value of the radiation pattern reaches the radiation pattern of 33.28dBm.
