Abstract

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have generated a promise as a potential source of cells for tissue engineering application due to their instrinsic ability to self-renew and differentiate into functional cell types. With their ability to differentiate into multiple cell phenotypes, mesenchymal stem cells offer the potential to regenerate entire tissue from a single cell source. Recent studies have demonstrated that MSCs were successfully used for bone repair, cartilage repair and soft tissue repair. This paper briefly outlines the biological characteristics of Mesenchymal stem cell and its application in tissue engineering field.

Abstract

Remineralization is a natural repair process for caries lesions. It is now well-accepted that the primary modes of action of fluoride are enhancement of remineralization, inhibition of demineralization, and inhibition of plaque bacteria, with remineralization being the most important. This study to aimed to understanding the role of remineralization methods to alter mineral balance on management of non-invasive dental caries. Calcium and phosphate delivery can be enhanced to improve remineralization, especially in persons with reduced salivary function. There is a great need for improved and novel remineralization methods to alter the caries balance for the better, especially in individuals with a high cariogenic bacterial challenge. There was also influence of fluoride and carbonate on the remineralization process. Dentinal tubules were occluded by apatite crystallites is a feature also shared by transparent dentin beneath caries lesions and age-induced transparent dentin. It is based on unstabilized amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP), where a calcium salt and a phosphate salt are delivered intra-orally or delivered in a product with a low water activity. As the salts mix with saliva, they dissolve, releasing calcium and phosphate ions. The mixing of calcium ions with phosphate ions to produce an ion activity product for amorphous calcium phosphate that exceeds its solubility product results in the immediate precipitation of ACP or, in the presence of fluoride ions, amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate (ACFP). In the intra-oral en vironment, these phases (ACP and ACFP) are potentially very unstable and may rapidly transform into a more thermodynamically stable, crystalline phase (e.g., hydroxyapatite and fluorhydroxyapatite). However, before phase transformation, calcium and phosphate ions should be transiently bioavailable to promote enamel subsurface lesion remineralization.

Abstract

Low dose aspirin can be used to reduce transient ischemic attack and unstable t angina. Besides, it may also be used as thrombosis prophylaxis in artery coronary (heart artery). Working mechanism ofacetosal is inhibit cyclo-oxygenase enzyme leading to the inhibitation of thromboxane A2 and prostacyclin formation, whereas they have contrary function. Thromboxane A2 stimulate formationof platelet aggregation while prostacyclin inhibit platelet  ggregation. How acetosal plays the role on thromboxane A2 and prostacyclin metabolism, affecting the prolonged bleeding time.

Abstract

Various types of metallic orthodontic wire and brackets stainless steel, cobalt-chromium-nickel alloy, nickel-titanium alloys, beta-titanium alloy are use in the treatment of malocclusion. For correct of orthodontic appliance one must have a thorought knowledge of the material from wich these appliance are made. The mechanical and physical properties of these materials change greatly under variying condition of manipulation. These metals undergo chemical or electrochemical reactions with the oral enviroment resultilting in disssolution or formation of chemical compounds. Under several situations thr oral enviroment is highly aggresive and leds to corrosion. An in vitro study to measure the behavior of corrosion on Beta III Ti and CNA orthodontic archwire has been done. The aim of this study was to calculated the corrosion rates of orthodontic archwire. The rectangular 0.017x0.025 Beta III Ti (3M Unitek) dan CNA (OrthoOrganizer) were used in this study. To measure the corrosion rates the weight loss and planed interval test method has been used. Data was tasted and analized using Between Subjects Effectc and Multiple Comparation test .. The result show the corrosion rates of CNA was higher than Beta III Ti.

Abstract

Replacement of joints with joint prostheses is one of the treatments to restore the function of joints damage. Wear particles is considered to be one of the main factors responsible for aseptic loosening of joint prostheses. Wear particles were generated from the wear test by using pin on plate unidirectional motion machine and PBS as a lubricant. The velocity of running test is 116.5 mm/s and the force is 180 N. The sliding distance of running wear test are 15 km and 30 km. Wear particles were inserted into knee joint synovium capsule of Rattus norvegicus sp. In the control groups, knee joint synovial capsule were injected with PBS without wear particles. On seventh day, the animals were sacrified, the tissues were collected for histology examination and the number of macrophages were determined. Statistical analysis showed that on there were no significant differences (p>0.05) in the number of macrophages. It can be concluded that the wear particles from stainless steel 316 L with ion implantation and UHMWPE GUR 1120 on 15 km and 30 km of sliding distance could not affect the number of macrophages.

Abstract

HIV / AIDS remains a global problem, more than 34 million people infected with HIV / AIDS. When a person with HIV / AIDS will become vulnerable to opportunistic infections. Manifestations of Candida fungal opportunistic infections in people with HIV / AIDS is most commonly a Oropharyngeal candidiasis. In addition, oral fungal infections include: acute pseudomembranous candidiasis, acute atrophic candidiasis, chronic atrophic candidiasis, chronic hyperplastic candidiasis and candida cheilosis. Fungal infections are common in people with HIV / AIDS as it relates to the level of immunosuppression, which can be an indicator of HIV infection and prediction of progression to AIDS infection.
