Abstract

Abstract This research aims to determine: (1) which provides a better achievement between cooperative learning of TGT type and cooperative learning of RPT type, (2) which has a better achievement between students who have high achievement motivation, medium and low, (3) which provides a better learning mathematics achievement between learning with TGT type or RPT type on achievement motivation respectively high, medium or low, (4) which provides a better learning mathematics achievement among high, medium or low motivation achievement on learning with TGT type, and (5) which provides a better learning mathematics achievement among high, medium or low motivation achievement on learning with RPT type.The population of this research was the eighth grade students of sukoharjo junior high school, second semester in the Academic Year 2010/2011. The sample size are 220 students taken from the SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura class VIII F and VIII F, SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura class VIII B and VIII C, and SMP Negeri 2 Gatak class VIII F and VIII G. Research sampling technique is stratified cluster random sampling. The instruments used to collect data is studying mathematics achievement tests and questionnaires student achievement motivation. Before the matehamtics achievement test and filling questionnaire of achievement motivation, we first conducted the instrument’s trial. In trials of research mathematics achievement test, it was conducted a test on the level of difficulty items, the distinguishing and reliability. The achievement motivation questionnaire was conducted on internal consistency and reliability. The research of the preliminary test proved that those samples are normally distributed with the homogeneous variance and balanced. Than we conducted test of hypothesis using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) model with unequal cell frequencies to 5% significance level. Prior to that, pre-requisite test: normality using the Lilliefors test and homogeneity of variances   using the Bartlett test. The results of pre-requisite test are samples come from population with normal distribution and have homogeneity of variancesFrom the analysis, it was concluded that: (1) cooperative learning of TGT type give the same learning mathematics achievement with cooperative learning of RPT type, (2) students with high achievement motivation have to learn mathematics achievement better than students with medium and low achievement motivation, and students with medium and low achievement motivation has the same learning mathematics achievement, (3) learning model with the type of TGT and type of RPT result do not differ when given to students with high achievement motivation and students with low achievement motivation, but learning to type of TGT provide learning mathematics achievement is better than learning by students with the type of RPT on students with medium achievement motivation, (4) with the type of TGT, students with high, medium and low achievement motivation has the same learning mathematics achievement, (5) with the type of RPT, learning mathematics achievement students with high achievement motivation better than students with medium achievement motivation, while students with medium and low achievement motivation has the same learning mathematics achievement. Keywords:    Teams Games Tournament, Reciprocal Peer Tutoring, Achievement Motivation, Learning Mathematics Achievement

Abstract

Abstract: This research was purposed to determine: (1) which one produced better mathematics learning achievement, cooperative learning model type Jigsawand Jigsaw Flash, or direct instruction; (2) which one had better mathematics learning achievement between students with visual learning style, those with auditory or those with kinesthetic learning style; (3) on each learning style, which one learning model that produced better mathematics learning achievement, cooperative learning model type Jigsawand Jigsaw Flash or direct instruction (4) on each learning model, which one student had better mathematics learning achievement , student who had visual learning style, those with auditory or those with kinesthetic learning style. This study was a quasi-experimental study with factorial 3x3 design. Population in this research were eleventh grade students of Vocational High School in Sragen. Sample collection were done by stratified cluster random sampling. Data collection were done by the method of documentation in order to test the balance of the population, the questionnaire were used to determine the students learning style and test were used to know the students achievement on material dimension three. Data analysis techniques used ANAVA two ways with unbalanced cells. The results of this study concluded as follows (1) cooperative learning model type Jigsaw Flash gave better mathematics learning achievement than cooperative learning type Jigsaw and direct instruction, cooperative learning type Jigsaw gave better mathematics learning achievement than direct instruction; (2) Students with kinesthetic learning style had better mathematics learning achievement than students with visual learning style and auditory learning style; students with visual learning style had better mathematics learning achievement than students with auditory learning style; (3) on each learning style, cooperative learning model type Jigsaw Flash gave better mathematics learning achievement than cooperative learning type Jigsaw and direct instruction, cooperative learning type Jigsaw gave better mathematics learning achievement than direct instruction; (4) on each learning model (Jigsaw, Jigsaw Flash, and direct instruction), students with kinesthetic learning style had better mathematics learning achievement than students with visual learning style and auditory learning style with visual learning style had better mathematics learning achievement than students with auditory learning style.Keywords: Learning Model, Jigsaw, Jigsaw Flash, Learning Style, learning achievement

Abstract

ABSTRAK             Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) Apakah pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw yang dimodifikasi memberikan prestasi yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw, dan keduanya lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional. (2) Apakah siswa dengan gaya kognitif field independent mempunyai prestasi belajar matematika yang lebih baik daripada siswa dengan gaya kognitif field dependent. (3) Apakah penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw yang dimodifikasi memberikan prestasi yang lebih baik daripada model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan pembelajaran konvensional pada siswa dengan gaya kognitif field dependent maupun field independent.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental semu dengan desain eksperimen 32. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII (delapan) SMP Negeri di Grobogan semester dua tahun pelajaran 2010/2011. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan stratified cluster random sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berasal dari SMP Negeri 1 Purwodadi, SMP Negeri 2 Grobogan, dan SMP Negeri 6 Purwodadi yang berjumlah 307 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes prestasi belajar matematika dan tes gaya kognitif siswa. Uji instrumen meliputi validitas isi instrumen tes dilakukan oleh validator dan uji reliabilitas instrumen tes menggunakan rumus KR-20. Uji keseimbangan menggunakan uji anava satu jalan dengan sel tak sama. Uji prasyarat meliputi uji normalitas dengan menggunakan metode uji Lilliefors dan uji homogenitas menggunakan metode Bartlett dengan statistik uji Chi Kuadrat. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji anava 2 jalan dengan sel tak sama.Hasil analisis data dengan anava dua jalan sel tak sama menunjukkan (1) Terdapat perbedaan rataan antara model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw  yang dimodifikasi, tipe Jigsaw dan konvensional  terhadap prestasi belajar matematika (Fa = 26,749  > F0,05;2;301 = 3,026). (2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan gaya kognitif siswa terhadap prestasi belajar matematika (Fb = 22,652 > F0,05;1;301 = 3,026). (3) Tidak terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran dengan gaya kognitif terhadap prestasi belajar matematika (Fab = 1,618 < F0,05;2;301 = 3,026).Berdasarkan uji hipotesis dan uji pasca anava diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: (1) Pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw yang dimodifikasi menghasilkan prestasi belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw, dan keduanya menghasilkan prestasi belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. (2) Siswa dengan gaya kognitif field independent mempunyai prestasi belajar lebih baik daripada siswa dengan gaya kognitif field dependent. (3) Pada siswa dengan gaya kognitif field independent maupun field dependent yang diberikan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw yang dimodifikasi mempunyai prestasi belajar lebih baik dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan keduanya lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional. Kata kunci:  Jigsaw yang dimodifikasi, Jigsaw, Gaya Kognitif, Field Independent, Field Dependent.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research was to know the effect of learning models on mathematics learning achievement viewed from the student Adversity Quotient (AQ). The learning models compared were the cooperative learning model of the Group Investigation with scientific approach (GI-S), the cooperative learning model of the Think Pair Share with scientific approach (TPS-S), and model of classical learning with scientific approach (K-S). The type of the research was a quasi experimental research with the factorial design of 3 x 3. The population were all students of Junior High School in Bantul regency on academic year 2014/2015. The samples of  the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling. The instruments used were mathematics achievement test and questionnaires of AQ. The hypotheses of the research were analyzed by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells at the significance level of . The results of the research are as follows. 1) GI-S gives better mathematics achievements than TPS-S, and both gives better mathematics achievements than K-S. 2) Students with AQ type of climber have better mathematics achievements than students with AQ type of camper and type of quitter, while students with AQ type of camper have better mathematics achievements than students with AQ type of quitter. 3) For GI-S and TPS-S, students with AQ type of climber and type of camper have the same mathematics achievements, and students with AQ type of climber and type of camper gives better mathematics achievements than students with AQ type of quitter. For K-S, students with AQ type of climber have better mathematics achievements than students with AQ type of camper and type of quitter, and both have the same mathematics achievements. 4) For students with AQ type of climber and type of quitter, GI-S, TPS-S, and K-S gives the same mathematics achievement. For students with AQ type of camper, GI-S and TPS-S gives the same mathematics achievements, and both gives better mathematics achievements than K-S.Keywords: GI, TPS, Classical, Scientific Approach, AQ

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this study were to: (1) produce a learning device in STAD cooperative learning model with a portfolio that was good for the subject of algebra in seventh grade junior high school, (2) know the effectiveness of cooperative learning of STAD type with portfolio assessment when it is viewed from early ability. This research was a kind of research and development. The development procedure used in this study was the development of a learning device according Thiagarajan et al, which was consisted of four stages: define, design, development, and disseminate. In disseminate stage, the experiment was conducted with portfolio assessment. Experiments conducted on the two junior high schools, they were Muhammadiyah Yanggong junior high school and Muhammadiyah Jenangan junior high school. Based on the inferential analysis, it showed that (1) the learning outcomes of students who were taught mathematics STAD cooperative learning with portfolio assessment was better than the mathematics learning outcomes of students who were taught STAD cooperative learning on the subject of algebra, (2) students who had high early ability had better performance than who had low early ability, (3) in the high ability, the students who were taught by using STAD cooperative learning model with portfolio assessment had better learning achievement than the students who were taught by using STAD cooperative model STAD without portfolio assessment, (4) in the low early ability, the students who were taught using STAD cooperative learning model with portfolio assessment had the same performance with STAD cooperative learning model without portfolio assessment, (5) the students who were taught by the STAD cooperative learning without portfolio assessment, students who had high early ability had better performance than who had low early ability, and (6) the students who were taught by using STAD cooperative learning model with portfolio assessment, the students who had high early ability had better performance than the students who had early ability.Key words: Cooperative STAD, Portfolio Assessment, Early ability

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from the student self-regulated learning. The learning models compared were MURDER (Mood Understand Recall Detect Elaborate Review) using RME (Realistic Mathematics Education) approach, MURDER, and direct learning. This study was a quasi-experimental research. The population of this study was students in grade XI science of Senior High School in Ponorogo on academic year 2015/2016. Instruments used were mathematics achievement test and questionnaire. Two ways anova with 3x3 of factorial design and significance level 0,05 are used for hypothesis test. The conclusions of the research were as follows. (1) MURDER RME gives better achievement than MURDER and direct learning, and MURDER gives the same achievement as direct learning, (2) students with high self-regulated learning has the same achievement as those who has middle self-regulated learning. Students who have high and middle self-regulated learning have better achievement than low self-regulated learning, (3) in the MURDER RME and MURDER, students who have high, middle, and low self-regulated learning have the same achievement. In the direct learning, students who have high self-regulated learning have the same achievement as those who have high and low self-regulated learning, and students who have high self-regulated learning have better achievement than those students who have low self-regulated learning, (4) for high self-regulated learning, MURDER RME produces better achievement than MURDER; MURDER RME and MURDER produce the same achievement as direct learning. For middle and lowself-regulated learning, MURDER RME, MURDER, and direct learning produce the same achievement which is categorized as good.Keywords: MURDER, RME, Self-Regulated Learning

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini diadakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui : (1) Manakah yang menghasilkan prestasi belajar matematika lebih baik, antara model pembelajaran Modified Jigsaw, Jigsaw atau Konvensional, (2) Manakah yang menghasilkan prestasi belajar matematika lebih baik, siswa dengan tingkat percaya diri tinggi, sedang atau rendah, (3) Pada model pembelajaran  Modified Jigsaw, manakah yang menghasilkan prestasi belajar matematika lebih baik, tingkat percaya diri tinggi, sedang atau rendah, (4) Pada model pembelajaran Kooperatif Jigsaw, manakah yang menghasilkan prestasi belajar matematika lebih baik, tingkat percaya diri tinggi, sedang atau rendah, (5) Pada model pembelajaran  konvensional, manakah yang memberi prestasi belajar matematika lebih baik, tingkat percaya diri tinggi, sedang atau rendah, (6) Pada tingkat percaya diri tinggi, manakah yang memberi prestasi belajar matematika  lebih baik, model pembelajaran konvensional, Jigsaw atau Modified Jigsaw, (7) Pada tingkat percaya diri sedang, manakah yang memberi prestasi belajar matematika  lebih baik, model pembelajaran konvensional,  Jigsaw atau Modified Jigsaw, (8) Pada tingkat percaya diri rendah, manakah yang memberi prestasi belajar matematika  lebih baik, model pembelajaran konvensional,  Jigsaw atau Modified Jigsaw.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental semu dengan desain faktorial 3x3. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN se-Kabupaten Bojonegoro tahun pelajaran 2011/2012. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara  stratified cluster random sampling sehingga terpilih tiga sekolah yaitu SMPN 3 Bojonegoro, SMPN 6 Bojonegoro, dan SMPN 7 Bojonegoro. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah angket sikap percaya diri dan tes prestasi belajar.Dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Siswa-siswa dengan pembelajaran kooperatif modified jigsaw mempunyai prestasi belajar matematika yang lebih baik daripada siswa-siswa dengan pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw dan pembelajaran konvensional. Sedangkan siswa-siswa dengan pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw mempunyai prestasi belajar matematika yang lebih baik daripada siswa-siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional, (2) Prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang mempunyai percaya diri tinggi lebih baik daripada prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang mempunyai percaya diri sedang dan rendah. Tidak ada perbedaan prestasi belajar matematika antara siswa yang mempunyai percaya diri sedang dan rendah, (3) Pada pembelajaran kooperatif modified jigsaw, tidak ada perbedaan antara prestasi belajar matematika pada masing-masing tingkatan percaya diri, (4) Pada pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw, tidak ada perbedaan prestasi belajar matematika antara siswa-siswa dengan tingkat percaya diri tinggi dan sedang. Begitu pula dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa-siswa dengan tingkat percaya sedang dan rendah juga tidak mempunyai perbedaan. Tetapi untuk prestasi belajar matematika siswa-siswa dengan percaya diri tinggi lebih baik daripada prestasi belajar matematika siswa-siswa dengan percaya diri rendah, (5) Pada pembelajaran konvensional, tidak ada perbedaan antara prestasi belajar matematika pada masing-masing tingkatan percaya diri, (6) Pada siswa  yang memiliki percaya diri tinggi, tidak ada perbedaan antara prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diberi pembelajaran kooperatif modified jigsaw dan pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw. Akan tetapi prestasi belajar matematika siswa dengan percaya diri tinggi yang diberi pembelajaran jigsaw dan modified jigsaw lebih baik daripada siswa dengan percaya diri tinggi yang diberi pembelajaran konvensional, (7) Pada siswa  yang memiliki percaya diri sedang, prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diberi pembelajaran kooperatif modified jigsaw lebih baik daripada siswa yang diberi pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw dan pembelajaran konvensional. Prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diberi pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw lebih baik daripada siswa yang diberi pembelajaran konvensional, (8) Pada siswa  yang memiliki percaya diri rendah, tidak ada perbedaan antara prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diberi pembelajaran kooperatif jigsaw dan pembelajaran konvensional. Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research were to: 1) determine the validity of the results of the development of learning modules with discovery learning approach on the material of limit algebra functions; 2) determine the practicality of the development of learning modules; 3) determine the effectiveness of the development of learning modules; 4) determine whether students achievement in the material of limit algebra functions using learning modules is better than the students who don’t use it. The development of the modules was done through the modified Four D, namely define, design, development, and disseminate. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Validity analysis was based on an expert assessment. Practicality analysis was based on implementation of learning module. Effectiveness analysis was based on student response after using the module. Analysis of student achievement was based on t-test hypothesis. The result concluded that: 1) learning modules with discovery learning approach to the material limit algebra functions declared fit for use by experts with the validity score of 3.44 and be in very good criteria; 2) learning modules expressed practical use in learning with the practicality score gained from the sheet of implementation of learning is 0.919 and be in very good criteria; 3) learning modules is effective for use in learning with the scores of effectiveness obtained from the sheet of students response to the module is 3.03 and be in good criteria; 4) learning achievement of students who use the learning module is better than students who don’t use it, but isn’t significant.Keywords: learning module, discovery learning, limit algebra functions.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of the  learning models on the learning achievement in mathematics viewed from students attitude toward mathematics. The learning models compared were the problem based learning (PBL) type, the cooperative learning model of the missouri mathematics  project (MMP) type, and the direct learning model. This research used the quasi experimental research. Its population was all of the students in Grade VII of State Junior Secondary Schools of Belitung regency in Academic Year 2014/2015. The samples of the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique and consisted of 285 students. They were grouped into three classes, namely: 95 students in Experimental Class 1, 96 students in Experimental Class 2, and 94 students in Control Class. The instruments to gather the data were test of achievement in learning mathematics and the students attitude toward mathematics questionnaire. The proposed hypotheses of the research were analyzed by using the two way analysis of  variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research were as follows. 1) The cooperative learning model of the PBL type results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the cooperative learning model of the MMP type  and  the  direct  learning  model,  the cooperative  learning  model of  the  MMP type results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the direct learning model. 2)  The  students  with  the high attitudes toward mathematics have a better learning achievement in mathematics than those with the moderate students attitudes toward mathematics and  those with  the low students attitudes toward mathematics, the students with the moderate attitudes toward mathematics have a better learning achievement in mathematics than those with the low students attitudes toward mathematics. 3) There was an interaction the aforementioned learning models and the categories students attitude toward mathematics on the learning achievement in mathematics of the students.Keywords: PBL, MMP, and students attitude toward mathematics.

Abstract

Abstract: The research aims to describe the mathematical reasoning of students with Field Dependent (FI) and Field Independent (FD) cognitive style in solving algebra problems. Type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The cognitive styles of 32 students of class VIII H SMPN 2 Karanganyar were determined using Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT). Each category of cognitive styles was taken three students with the high, medium, and low scores and were used as research subjects. Data was collected by interview based tasks. Validity of the data used time triangulation. Techniques of data analysis were done by: (1) classfying the data into Polya’s problem solving steps, (2) presenting the data in narrative text, and (3) concluding the students’ mathematical reasoning in each Polya’s problem solving steps. The results of this research showed that mathematical reasoning students with FD cognitive styles in algebra problem solving is: (1) able to identify the problem clearly and completely, (2) able to describe the conditions of the problem, (3) able to connect different elements of information but not perfect. While the mathematical reasoning students with FI cognitive styles in algebra problem solving is: (1) able to identify the problem clearly and completely, (2) able to describe the conditions of the problem, (3) able to connect different elements of information completely, (4) able to apply algebraic concepts that have been studied previously, and (5) able to make conjectures for problem solving strategies but incomplete.Keywords: Mathematical reasoning, algebra problems, cognitive styles
