Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the fundamental skills that must be mastered by students because problem-solving skills will help to solve problems in other subjects as well as everyday life. Therefore, the problem-solving ability is a common goal of learning mathematics. Success in mathematical problems solving is influenced by student abilities and skills in creating social relations. Student abilities and skills in creating social relations and to work effectively with others called interpersonal intelligence. This research aims to describe mathematical problem solving of elementary students used the descriptive qualitative method which data was collected through questionnaire, test, and interview. Results showed that students with high interpersonal intelligence could master four indicators of problem-solving, namely understand the problem, devise a plan, carry out the idea, and lock back. Students with average interpersonal intelligence can master understands the problem and design a plan indicator, but sometimes they cant carry out the plan correctly. Students with low interpersonal intelligence just understanding the problem, but they cant devise the plan well.

Abstract

This study described the kinds of questions asked by novice teachers during mathematics learning process in senior high school. This study used descriptive analysis. The subjects of this study were 2 novice teachers who teach mathematics in 10th grade. The result shows that the frequent questions asked by novice teacher based on the objective were compliance questions, rhetorical questions and sometimes prompting questions and probing questions. The frequent questions asked by novice teacher based on the cognitive process dimension of Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy were questions of remembering, questions of understanding, questions of applying, questions of analyzing and questions of evaluating. The novice teacher asked the routine questions which had same thinking level. The question with the highest level in thinking didn’t ask by the novice teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the teachers' obstacles in applying problem-based learning model in Mathematics learning of elementary schools. This method of this study was a qualitative descriptive. The data sources were three third-grade teachers of the elementary schools. The data analysis consisted of stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of the study show: in the planning stage, obstacles occur when teachers need careful preparation in making learning plans and determining problems at the beginning of learning. In the implementation phase, the obstacle that occurs is a lack of time in maximizing activities in all phases. The teacher finds it difficult to direct students to problems that require solutions. Teachers need enough time to organize students in group activities. Also, they have difficulty dividing time when guiding groups because students are still waiting for the teacher to explain to the group without doing it themselves first. Another difficulty faced is making students actively ask questions or respond to learning activities, and feedback from problem-solving is less profound.

Abstract

Learning mathematics is a type of learning that is quite difficult. However, learning will be easier for students to understand if the material presented uses the students' daily context. Learning modules will help students to understand learning in depth. This research aims to develop a mathematics module based on the Banyumasan context. This development research was adapted from the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. Data collection methods were carried out through questionnaires and mathematical literacy tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis. The research results concluded that: validation results show that the Banyumasan context-based module meets the feasibility standards and is included in the very good category. The results of developing the Banyumasan context-based module were declared practical to use, with a practicality score included in the good category. The results of the development of the Banyumasan context-based module were declared effective in use with the result t-obs = 8.2140 with a critical area of t > 2.030, which means that the mathematical literacy of students who used the Banyumasan context. The context-based module was better than the mathematical literacy of students before using the Banyumasan context-based module. Banyumasan context.

Abstract

The research aims to investigate and evaluate the efficacy of different learning models on mathematics learning outcomes, specifically focusing on the students' van Hiele geometric reasoning capacity. The study employed a quasi-experimental design. The practice is carried out in Public Junior High Schools in Sukoharjo Regency, part of the Central Java Province in Indonesia. The utilized learning models were transformative learning, actual mathematics education, and direct instruction. The study encompassed a total of 281 individuals, who were selected from 9 classes across three distinct institutions. Data analysis is conducted with a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) approach. The research findings indicate that (1) the learning model has a positive and significant impact on mathematics learning outcomes; (2) the van Hiele level of geometric thinking ability has a positive and significant influence on mathematics learning outcomes; (3) there is a positive and significant interaction between learning models and van Hiele level of geometric thinking ability on mathematics learning outcomes; and (4) among the transformative learning, Real Mathematics Education, and Direct Instruction models, the transformative learning model yields the best mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

The problem-based learning model remains an innovative model that is often implemented for learning in the 21st century, as an effort to achieve students' soft skill competencies. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the necessary learning model in Mathematics at Girimarto District Elementary Schools and to analyze the application of the problem-based learning model at these schools. This research is classified as descriptive quantitative research, and it involves a random sample of 106 students and 10 elementary school teachers in the Girimarto area. The data collection technique used is non-test, specifically through the use of questionnaires. The data obtained from the questionnaires are analyzed descriptively using percentages to depict the research findings. The study highlighted a suboptimal implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Girimarto District, with only 44.94% of the sample demonstrating mastery of critical thinking, 35.67% exhibiting creative reasoning, and 25.09% performing analytical thinking. This indicates a lack of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based learning among teachers. Various obstacles were identified, including student passivity, fear, and unfamiliarity with the PBL model. Interviews and observations further revealed that many teachers had not fully grasped the concept of PBL. The study emphasizes the need to address these obstacles to enhance PBL implementation and improve Mathematics learning outcomes in Girimarto District Elementary Schools. The implications of these findings underscore the necessity of addressing these barriers to enhance the implementation of PBL and improve Mathematics learning outcomes in Girimarto Elementary School.

Abstract

The development of ICT technology has an impact on the development of the game industry, which makes teachers more creative in designing their learning processes. However, teachers have not fully implemented the learning process using gamification-based media. This study aims to explore the teacher's perspective on the use of the Quizizz gamification application. This type of research is qualitative. The research subjects used consisted of 16 classroom teachers from 5 elementary schools. The data collection tool only uses structured interviews with classroom teachers. The data analysis technique uses a descriptive qualitative analysis using Miles and Huberman. The results show that using gamification, especially Quizizz, is beneficial and supports educators in learning. However, many educators admit that they have obstacles: they are unfamiliar with the gamification system, have difficulty in making gamification, have no training and socialization, and educators do not yet know the function of the advantages and disadvantages of gamification itself. These challenges and obstacles certainly require the support of the relevant stakeholders. The implication of this research is to improve the potential weaknesses of educators in order to become exemplary educators in the 21st century.
