Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to determine the allocation of income for seaweed farming. The research was conducted in Sambuli Village, Kendari City, towards seaweed farmers who are still cultivating seaweed. The variable in this study is the allocation of seaweed farming income for business continuity within one month. The allocation of income obtained from seaweed farming was analyzed using the formula of income allocation. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the entire income of seaweed fishermen is allocated for food and non-food needs so that the allocation of income for the sustainability of seaweed farming becomes smaller. Kendari City government participation is needed to prevent environmental damage that threatens the sustainability of natural resources on the coast of Kendari Bay which causes the production and income of seaweed farmers to decline and threaten the sustainability of seaweed farming

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of welfare of cashew farmer households due to the development of cashew farming through the role of the local government. The research was conducted in 2018 in the North Kulisusu District by selecting three villages, namely Bira Village, Kurolabu Village, and Lakansai Village. The location selection was done purposively because this area was one of the regions that experienced an increase in the development of cashew cultivation. Determination of respondents is done by quota sampling, which is 20 people per village, so the number of respondents is 60 people. Data collection uses techniques (1) interviews, (2) observations, and (3) questionnaires. Data collection is done by direct communication with farmers, and parties related to cashew farming. The measurement of the level of welfare is carried out by analyzing the Farmer's Household Exchange Rate. Abstract

The study aimed to find out the present status of financing of rice farming in each of its agribusiness sub-system. The study was carried out in Konawe and South Konawe Districts in Southeast Sulawesi Province. Data were collected from rice farmers in the selected farmer groups in 14 subdistricts of the two districts, as well as from processors/Rice Milling Unit, traders, retailers, government staff, and financial institutions (bank and non-banks) using questionnaire-based interviews and Focus Group Discussions. Data were analyzed qualitatively using descriptive statistics. Study results showed that rice farming financing was still dominated by non-formal financial institutions, especially by the traders along the value chain. Farmers did not have sufficient access to formal financial institutions and they preferred to take loans from non-formal money lenders. Loans from banks were chiefly allocated to actors in downstream agribusiness sub-systems, namely processors and traders. Improving the accessibility of smallholder farmers to formal financial institutions should be continuously done to help increase production, income, and prosperity of smallholder farmers.
