Abstract

Quality of service is a very complex discussion due to intangible substance or. The study was focused on the service industry companies in several Indonesia big cities. While the sample of service industry ware selected base on directorate of Large and Medium Companies. The survey conduct base on consumer needs and consumer wants, each service provide should have ability to determine those things trough market research. On services management, the role of human resources is more prominent and more decisive due to “moment of truth” importance. Quality of services is determined by the quality of the internal management especially for contact personnel. Therefore, internal factors are very dominant compared to external factors, thus, in Services Company, promotion has become important and effective to define consumer satisfaction, because consumer may determine organization development as well. Gross domestic product in the service sector has significant growth until year 2010, so the role managers should have attention to the developments and new challenges, such as new discoveries in technology, changes in society, economic of scale, economic environment, and the presence of international trade.

Abstract

The adverse climate of a business competition, especially in the realm of production of household commodities, enforces a business enterprise to apply a strategic decision about mixing ingredient and its inventory effectively. This decision entails the appropriate selection of ingredient within a minimum attainable cost.Optimization of ingredient selection and inventory was carried out in a detergent industry. Optimization was conducted employing the technique of Linear Programming with the incorporation of several relevant constraints. The optimization was focused on the optimal profit, taking account specifically the cost of material handling; this would necessitate the choice of suitable ingredients for manufacture of a certain product, and a decision about where these ingredients would be inventoried.In this study, the optimization was proven capable to increase the profit in a significant figure. The results of the optimization determined specifically the selection of the ingredients for each product according to the quality specified, and at the same time determined the allotment of the ingredients in the specified inventory.

Abstract

One of the products of PT X, a paper manufacturing industry, is Pad Line Book. In order to maximize profit, PT X tried to reduce the production cost by maximizing defect. The current defect is approximately 5,560%. This research used Six Sigma quality method for improving the quality. The method consisted of five steps: i.e.Define- Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control. Define step was used to identifi defect root cause, using tool such as percentage control chart, while measure step is used to identify the type of defects. Analyse step defined the process variables including the levels that affect the quality significantly using Taguchi method matrix experiment (Orthogonal Array). The improve step defines the optimal response developed by Taguchi called Signal to Noise Ratio. The last step, control step provides the company with information on process variables that gives maximum contribution to achieve optimal response solution. By using attribute Taguchi method based on Six Sigma step, the process variables including levels combination that contributes to optimal solution all identified. For producing the Pad Line Books the combination was as follows; speed 400 m/s, glue pump pressure 3 bars, roll distance 0,3 m and temperature 550 Celcius. The overall quality improvement was 67,28% and the improvement itself grew from 4,23 six sigma to 4,33 six sigma.

Abstract

The Project Management and Service Department of PT Boma Bisma Indra (BBI-MPJ) encounters numerous civil works in building a Crude Palm Oil (CPO) Refinery Plant. A decision involving many factor has to be made between "in-house construction " or "subcontracting". A multiple criteria decision model involving Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in conjunction with Utility Function was employed in this study to solve the problem of choosing the best alternative. This model was used to optimisefour objectives, i.e. maximizing Strategic Competitive Performance, Managerial Performance, Financial Performance and minimizing Risk. The results obtained indicated that all the civil works should be subcontracted. Civil works for Machinery Foundation was contracted to Subcontractor SA2, and Ancillary Building to Subcontractor SB2; while mechanical works Steel Structure and Platform (Threshing and Pressing Station), Steel.Structure and Platform Lot 7 and Steel Structure and Platform Lot 5 were contracted to Subcontractors M42, MBI, and MC2 respectively.

Abstract

Paiton Phasa 11 Independent Power Producer (IPP) is a coal power station that operates 2x610 MW net steam turbine generators. This research is focused on lowest efficiency of transformation from chemical enerv to thermal energy in the steam generator (boiler). Based on information technology provided by ABB CE, there are four process variables affecting the combustion i.e. tilting (nozzle angle), air distribution, combination of elevation and furnace draft. Beside, there are two responses that represent the combustion performance i.e. [CO] gas and furnace exit temperature. The other variable that influences the combustion but is not controlled is type of coal called noise variable. The aim of this research is to find which process variables that have the most significant effect to the responses and identify the existing interaction among them. The second aim is to find the optimal combustion setting and calculate the improvement efficiency. In order to achieve that purpose, the Experiment Matrix called Orthogonal Array (04) developed by Taguchi is used. The result of this experiment matrix will be brought in to the signal ratio to noise (SIN) that transfer data in to a value that represents a measure of variance (precision and accurate). The next step is analysing data using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result of SN ratio and ANOVA is a setting that results in an optimal solution of [CO] and furnace exit temperature individually. The TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarly to Ideal Solution) is than used to get the only one setting producing optimal solution for both responses (multi responses optimation).

Abstract

Change management system is influenced by the company management competency. because, management determines change through the workings procedures and organization structure. Management competency of companies has positive consequence to effectively project team. The management expertise has ability to decide the people who have talent in order to involve on the project. Project team was formed when a change management system in the form of project. Thus, effectiveness of the project team key user influence on improvement of company performance. Whereas based on a survey by distributing questionnaires and interviews of 42 SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and analyzed with SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) it was found that a positive relationship management competency to change management system. On contrast, it has negative influence between management competence and effectively Project Team. Change management system also affect the effectively project team. Furthermore, enterprise performance was determined by change management system, while effectively project team had no effect at the company as a research object.

Abstract

In early 2004, PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (PT CPI) booked US$ 100 millions for its material inventory level. As one of the company’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI), management recommended to reduce this material inventory level to fit with the current condition of the company. By the end of 2004, company recorded US$ 82 millions for its material inventory level while the target was US$ 75 millions. In order to help company to achieve this target, there is a need to provide an additional tool to support the decision making process related to inventory management.This research was focused on the design and implementation of analysis tool (i.e. a prototype of data warehouse for material activity) to support inventory management system at PT CPI. The strategy used in this research was done effectively and efficiently without sacrificing customer’s satisfaction due to the limitation of the resources (i.e. manpower and cost) provided by the company. In the design phase, a dimensional modelling was employed by optimizing some features in SQL Server 2000 to complement the current needs on query and reporting information for inventory analysis that can not be accommodated by the existing JDE Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). A data cube was created using the star-schema dimensional modelling. This cube enables user to directly perform the slice and dice, as well as drill-down operation easily. In addition, users can also access the cube from Microsoft Excel and web using the Pivot Table Services. The prototype that has been successfully developed in this research has been successfully tested using material activity data during the year 2004 and during a few months in year 2005.In conclusion, the methodology adopted in this research is particularly effective and efficient for developing a data warehouse that uses SQL Server 2000 as a database management system. The prototype developed in this research can be used as a supporting tool for decision making process, in this regard, users will be able to manage material inventory in a better and faster way, which will in turn improve the company’s performance.

Abstract

PT Aneka Tirta Sukoindo is a bottled spring water producer which uses "Aquacui" trademark. This company was established on IS t January, 2003 and is located in Sukorejo-Pandaan. Recently, PTAneka Tirta Sukoindo has been indicted by PT Aqua Golden Mississippi, a pioneer company and a market leader in bottled spring water industry. The reason of the indictment was the use of the word "Aqua" in "Aquacui" brand. PT Aqua Golden Mississippi claims that Aquacui has duplicated the Aqua brand name. Because of this indictment, PT Aneka Tirta Sukoindo needed to be rebranded the Aquacui. Rebranding is a process in redefining and positioning a brand strateu, which may have several forms. The forms can be a change of the name or a change in imagery (visual symbols and packaging designs). Rebranding of Aquacui was prompted by a crisis from PT Aqua Golden Mississippi's indictment and an improvement strategy of Aquacui's product image in the market place. The results of the Aquacui's rebranding process was redefinition of the brand name, brand core, brand positioning, brand personality, brand culture, brand architecture, brand visual identity and brand communication strateu.

Abstract

Fierce competition in today's global market has forced industrial players to think how to win the competition. Application of logistics and supply chain management strateg is one way to win the competition. Logistics and supply chain management is influenced by external and internal factors. The external factors are corporate strateu alliance, technology development, fierce competition environment, while internal factors are decision support system, information system integration, logistics system, and targeted improving performance. This research tries to evaluate logistics strategy alternatives using Analytical Network Process (ANP). ANP uses feedback approach to evaluate dynamic multi direction relationship between decision attributes. Because external factors influence the process of strategic decision making, ANP approach is used to get the best logistics and supply chain strategy for current situation.

Abstract

The modern competitive industry today, loyal customer is one of the important issues for company to survive. They have to maintain a loyal customer due to increasingly cost of acquiring new customer; moreover there is a positive relationship between customer loyalty and company profits. In order to create customer loyalty, the company needs to consider about the factor influence loyalty. The aim of the study was to examine of those factors are influence customer loyalty in insurance industry. The research uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), data are obtained from customer XYZ Jember and Banyuwangi branch office that have been a customer of at least 1 (one) year. From the analysis of customer loyalty, it is significantly influenced by the quality of service and customer satisfaction. In addition it also concluded customer satisfaction also significantly affect the company’s Image and switching barrier.
