Abstract

INTISARI Demam berdarah dengue (DBD) merupakan penyakit menular  yang hingga kini masih menjadi masalah, karena bisa menyebabkan kematian. Vektor utama penularan penyakit DBD adalah nyamuk Aedes aegypti.Salah satu cara menghindari nyamuk adalah dengan menggunakan repelen yang berasal dari minyak atsiri.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkarakterisasi dan mengetahui aktivitasrepelen  minyak atsiri akar wangi (Vetiveria zizanoides  L.), cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & L.M.Perry), sereh wangi (Cymbopogon nardus L), dan nilam (Pogostemon cablin(Blanco) Benth.) dari kabupaten Garut terhadap nyamuk Aedes aegypti betina. Karakterisasi minyak atsiri meliputi penentuan warna, berat jenis, indek bias, kelarutan dalam etanol dan bilangan asam.   Pengujian  aktivitas repelen  dilakukan menggunakan lengan sukarelawan. Kontrol negatif menggunakan  virgin coconut oil  (VCO), sedangkan kontrol positif menggunakan N,N,-dietil-m-toluamida (DEET). Konsentrasi minyak atsiri yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah  2,5%, 5%, dan 10%.  Pengamatan daya repelen dilakukan setiap 5menit sampai 15 menit dilakukan berulang  selama 3 kali. Sampel dinyatakan memiliki potensi repelen bila  potensi repelen  ≥95% .  Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa  minyak atsiri sereh wangi memiliki aktivitas repelen pada konsentrasi 10% dengan daya repelen 96.26%.   Kata kunci : repelen,  Aedes aegypti, minyak atsiri ABSTRACT Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is  an infectious disease that there are still be a problem, because it can cause death.Vector transmission of dengue fever is Aedes aegypti. One way to avoid mosquito is by using repellent  derived from the volatile oil.  The purpose of this research is to  characterized and  investigated of    repellent  activity  of    volatile oil akar wangiVetiveria zizanoides L.), cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum  (L.) Merr. & L.M.Perry), sereh wangi (Cymbopogon nardus L), and nilam (Pogostemon cablin  (Blanco) Benth.)  from  Garut district against Aedes aegypti female. Characterization of volatile oils contain of determinations of colours, spesific gravity, refracty index, ethanol solubility and acid number. The repellent activity test was carried out using arms volunteers.Virgin coconut oil ( VCO)  was used as negative control, while control positive was  using n, n,-dietil-m-toluamida ( DEET ). Concentrations  of volatile oil used in  this  study were 2.5 %, 5 %, and 10 %.Observation of repellentheld every 5 minutes to 15 minutes with 3 times repeated. The sample has potent repellent activity if it has ≥ 95% potential repellent.  The result showed that the volatile oil of sereh wangi has repellent activity  with  96.26 % potential repellent in 10 % concentration. Abstract

ABSTRACTFree radicals are suspected as triggers of various degenerative diseases. Antioxidants are compounds that can counteract free radicals. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity by DPPH method and analyze the active compounds contained in romaine lettuce extract (Lactuca sativa var Longifolia) and lactuca sativa var Crishpa lettuce extract (Lactuca sativa var Crishpa). Romaine lettuce and and lactuca sativa var Crishpa was done extraction with a maceration method using 70% as ethanol solvent. The concentration of extract used was 12.5; 25; 50; 100; 200 and 400 ppm and vitamin C concentrations as comparison was 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2; 2,5 and 3 ppm tested its antioxidant activity by DPPH method by spectrophotometry visible, until IC50 value was obtained. The identification of the active compound was performed by phytochemical screening and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). The results showed that romaine lettuce has IC50 value of 151,1515 ppm and lactuca sativa var Crishpa has IC50 value of 183,7560 ppm and vitamin C value was 1,7005 ppm. The chemical compounds contained in romaine ethanol extract and lactuca sativa var Crishpa lettuce extract are alkaloids, phenols and flavonoids.Keywords: Antioxidant, DPPH, IC50, TLC, Romaine, Lactuca sativa var Crishpa

Abstract

ABSTRACT To produce an effect, the agonist drug 2 will bind to the ADRB2 receptor. The effect of agonist 2 shows variation between individuals due to the presence of encoding gene polymorphisms. There are 80 ADRB2 polymorphisms, including Arg16Gly in amino acids 16. The innate ADRB2 genotype is called wildtype, whereas mutated ones is called mutant. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between genotype rs 1042713 (Arg16Gly) and the effectiveness of β2-agonist drugs in asthma sufferers. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design and prospective data collection. Examination of the presence of gene polymorphisms and assessment of effe A total of 101 asthma patients who met the inclusion criteria were sorted by genome type by pharmacogenomic examination uses the Asthma Control Test (ACT) questionnaire. The results of the statistical test with chi square to determine the relationship of genome type and asthma control obtained p value 0.131. The comparison of the effectiveness of the wildtype genome is more effective than the mutant of 1.887x, and heterozygote is more effective 1,667x greater than the mutant. There is no significant relation between genotypes rs 1042713 (Arg16Gly) with effectiveness, but the possibility of clinical effectiveness is different. Abstract

ABSTRACTPharmaceutical raw materials from agriculture or collection of wild plant chemical content can not be guaranteed always constant due to variable seed, the body, the climate, the conditions (age and how to harvest). The content of the chemical compounds responsible for the biological response must have chemical specifications, namely the composition information (type and concentration). The efficacy of traditional medicine based on the chemical compound. Therefore, the assay of the active substance a crude drugs and extracts needs to be done to ensure that a traditional medicinal products can be assured of quality and usefulness. The assay performed on botanicals and 50% ethanol extract of leaves of Stevia rebaudiana. The assay of the crude drugs and extracts from the stevia leaf area of Malang, Tawangmangu, and Bogor using High Performance Liquid Chromatograph method. Results of the assay stevioside on simplicia and stevia leaf extract obtained stevioside levels in simplicia stevia leaves from Malang, Bogor, Tawangmangu consecutive namely 5.65%; 3.89%; 1.59%. Stevioside levels in the stevia leaf extract of Malang, Bogor, Tawangmangu respectively, are 14.14%; 22.40%; 66.65%.Key word: Stevia rebaudiana leaf, stevioside content, High Performance Liquid Chromatograph

Abstract

ABSTRACTDayak Onion (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) is known to have several benefits including treating cancer, hypertension, lowering cholesterol. This study aims to determine the non-specific parameters of ethanol extract from Dayak onion bulbs which include drying shrinkage parameters, moisture content, ash content, acid insoluble ash content. Extraction was carried out percolation with 96% ethanol and yielded a yield of 12.44%. Dayak onion tuber extract was thick with a distinctive smell of onion and reddish brown color. The contents of the active compounds include flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids and quinones. The results showed a shrinkage value of 9.73 ± 0.10%, moisture content 9.42 ± 0.36% ash content 4.83 ± 0.27% and acid insoluble ash content 0.45 ± 0.49Keywords: Dayak Onion, 96% ethanol extract, non specific parameters

Abstract

ABSTRACT Whitening lotion is a mixture of chemicals or other ingredients with properties that can whiten the skin or blemish black (brown) on the skin. The use of mercury in whitening lotions can cause a variety of things, ranging from skin discoloration which can ultimately cause black spots on the skin, allergies and skin irritation. The using of mercury in high dose can cause permanent brain damageand cancer. An analysis of mercury content in the whitening lotion brands A, B and C circulating at market in Padang city has been conducted. Extraction of mercury in the whitening lotion was done by wet destruction with a concentrated HNO3 solution and concentrated H2SO4 for 2 hours at a temperature of ± 95°C until a clear solution is obtained. The clear solution was measured by absorption with an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer using a mercury hollow cathode lamp at a wavelength of 253.7 nm. The results of this study were samples of brands A, B and C detected containing mercury metals with successive levels of 0.3347 μg /g; 0,7917 μg /g and 0,7981 μg/ g. The whitening lotions that circulate in market do not meet the Head of BPOM RI Regulation No.18 of 2015 whose contents prohibit the use of mercury in cosmetics preparations. Abstract

In order to discover and identify antimalarial active compounds, jengkol peel extract was isolated and tested for antimalarial activity. This study aims to determine the antimalarial active compound from jengkol peel extract which functions as an inhibitor of the Malate Quinone Oxidoreductase (MQO) enzyme. In this study, the extraction process was carried out using methanol as a solvent with the maceration method. The maceration results were then concentrated using a rotary evaporator with low pressure at a temperature of 40-45°C to obtain a Crude extract of 203 grams. Then liquid-liquid fractionation was carried out with four types of solvents, namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, methanol, and water according to the level of polarity. Each fraction obtained was 400 ml which was then tested for enzyme inhibition using the MQO enzyme formation inhibition method. The fraction that had the highest inhibitory activity was the ethyl acetate fraction of 80%. Confirmation was done again with the same separation using column chromatography so as to produce the ethyl acetate fraction which was confirmed to be identified using HPLC producing peaks at retention times of 22 and 23 minutes. The results showed that in jengkol peel extract there were active compounds that acted as inhibitors of the MQO enzyme but further tests were needed to confirm these peak compounds.
