Abstract

This study aimed to describe the efforts of Pesantren Nurul Jadid to implement of Hasan al-Banna's thought about Three Matra of education, namely the education of mind, body, and heart (qalb), in constructing students’ characters at Pesantren Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo East Java. This research used a qualitative method of case study type. The results showed that; pesantren has implemented Three Matra by delivering education for mind, body, and heart for its santri. It has set the moto which is in line with Hasan al Banna's thought in building the character of students. It is supported by its vision and mission which was described in the trilogy of students and five/panca awareness of students, education and learning activity, habituation, making of regulation as the norm of binding and organizing activity students.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate parents’ goals and objectives in fostering the moral values to their adolescents, parents’ moral values instilled toward their teenagers, parents’ approach and methods in instilling moral values, and parents’ guidance development in nurturing moral values toward adolescent. This research used descriptive-analytic method, and qualitative-naturalistic approach. It applied observation, interview and documentation. It investigated three families with a different education background. Findings show that family with undergraduate education background is relatively very good in fostering the values of Akhlak Karimah to their teenagers. Their success was supported by clear goals and objectives, consistent and continuous delivery of materials, the use of appropriate approaches and methods, and good and harmonious family. These factors contributed to excellent moral education for their teenager.  Family with a high school education background applied moral education using the formulation of objectives, materials, and the arrangement of a family atmosphere but the result was less optimal because they used less precise methods and approaches. Family with a junior high school education background had not achieved a satisfactory result in moral education for their teenagers because they did not formulate well objectives, materials, methods, approaches and the arrangement of a family atmosphere

Abstract

This article is an attempt to explore the application of Wasatiyyah in the education system in Brunei Darussalam. This research will be focusing on the advancement of Muslim women’s education since the Nation’s Policy of Education has been formulated. In such, Annual Education Report and related government official documents are to be analyzed as the main resource in this article. In brief, the methodology used is library research which will be presented in descriptive and narrative approach. As a result, the research found that it is certainly notable Wasatiyyah concept is part of the country education system. It is clear and noticeable with no restriction on gender to enroll in all schools. The opportunity to get an education is equally open to all children. Besides, the government is constantly offering and encouraging all adult Muslim women to engage in long life learning with providing them with adult education to enhance their skills and knowledge in numerous field.

Abstract

This study was aimed in order to uncover and discover the efforts of teachers in internalizing the values of Sufism in learning Fiqh in MAN (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri/ State Islamic Senior High School) Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive analytic approach. Meanwhile, to collect the necessary data used in this study in-depth interview techniques, observation, and documentation study. This study led to the conclusion: the techniques used by teachers to internalize the values of Sufism in learning Fiqh is to link subject matter of Fiqh with the values of Sufism, reveal hikmat at-tasyri’, assignment, and imitation, factors that support the internalization of the values of Sufism in learning Fiqh are the internal factors of teachers that includes knowledge and insights, learning strategies, learning facilities such as mosques, dormitories and libraries, and constraints faced by teachers are class size, social environment, and the influence of the mass media.

Abstract

The environment is believed to have a strong effect on the learning process of students, including the family’s influence. This study is aimed to examine the influence of family literacy culture on student learning motivation in Islamic education subject. This study applied the associative method with inferential statistical analysis. The population of this study covers 484 students of class X at State Senior High School in Garut District, Indonesia, while the number of research samples comprises 83 respondents. Data measurement in this research uses ordinal data with Likert Scale measurement. The analysis methods include regression analysis, correlation coefficient, the coefficient of determination, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the culture of family literacy had a positive and significant impact on students’ learning motivation in the Subject of Islamic Education

Abstract

This article explores teacher's experiences and students' perceptions of character and values education at the university level. This is a case study of how teacher integrates character education in EFL Reading Comprehension subject at Islamic higher education context. The data from ten students and a teacher are collected through an online interview and questionnaires. The result showed the characters implied in EFL Reading Comprehension Subject are eleven characters include learning method, critical thinking, independence, creativity, courage/self-confidence, communicativeness, responsibility, honesty, religiousness, cooperation, tolerance. Those characters are positively responded by the students in their learning process in the classroom. Besides, the teacher also integrated those values in the teaching and learning process to instill students' character education.

Abstract

This study aims to find the relevance and contextualization of the thoughts of al-Zarnuji's character in the present context especially in relation to strengthening character education in Indonesia. The research used the incorporative approach and descriptive, heuristic and hermeneutic methods. The analysis technique used analytical content. The study found that there was relevance in the concept of al-Zarnuji's character to the concept of strengthening character education in Indonesia, where both of them made aspects of noble character and morality as the pillars and main souls of humans in nation-building. Although in a different socio-cultural context, the concept of al-Zarnuji's character and the concept of character education in Indonesia both go in the same direction, namely the effort to establish positive characters for students through education.

Abstract

There is an increasing trend among parents nowadays to choose Islamic elementary school. This has triggered the increasing amount of schools that adopt religious bases such as Kuttab Al-Fatih (KAF), a school that emphasized manner education and Islamic faith teaching. The purposes of this study are to correlate Islamic faith education given by parents and student’s social and emotional skills and to compare children's emotional and social skills from parents whose children schooled in KAF and in other schools. The measurement of children's social and emotional skills contains three dimensions: persistence, self-control, and social competence. Meanwhile, faith education by parents was measured using how much parents teach faith indicator. There are 52 parents participated in this study. Results showed there is a significant correlation between faith education and social and emotional skills (r=.302, p < .05), and there is no significant difference in social and emotional skills between children who submitted to KAF and to other schools.

Abstract

Education system constitutes an important stage in growing, developing, and strengthening the character of younger generation. This means that the objectives of education at the institutional level (school) can be a representation of the goals of national education that covers character education. The study aimed to describe the implementation of the curriculum of local Islamic content through curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular programs at SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama/junior high school) Al-Amanah Cileunyi to shape the character of students in accordance with Islamic morals. This study applied a naturalistic qualitative approach. The approach is used due to the problems that are currently occurring naturally at the present time, namely student character education at SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi. The research finding showed that  SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi has a local Islamic content curriculum, both as a subject matter and an extra-curricular activity, Islamic local content that applies at SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi featuring character values that are originated from the Islamic teachings, and eighteen national character values as determined by the government, and the implementation of Islamic local content is through the activities of self-development, habituation, extra-curricular, exemplary, and the integration of character education within learning process. However, there are some problems encountered in its implementation, among others due to inconsistent attitudes of school community and the gap between character education programs and their implementation. The result of character education through the implementation of Islamic local content is shown by the qualitative scores in the report book, and the increasing trust of parents and the community to SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi.
