Religio : Jurnal Studi Agama-agama
Jurnal yang mengeksplorasi gagasan kreatif dan solutif seputar tema agama dan sosial-budaya. Selain sebagai wahana sosialisasi, jurnal Religio diharapkan bisa menjadi ruang publik (public sphere) bagi masyarakat, khususnya bagi para akademisi, peneliti, dan praktisi. Substansi isi tulisan jurnal, lebih menitikberatkan pada agenda pengembangan pola pikir keberagamaan yang moderat, yang berpijak pada nilai-nilai demokrasi, pluralisme, multikulturalisme dan toleransi agama. Jurnal Religio didedikasikan untuk mewujudkan paradigma masyarakat agama yang harmonis, pluralis dan transformatif, baik dalam konteks lokal, nasional maupun internasional. Dengan demikian, kehadiran di tengah-tengah masyarakat, diharapkan dapat bermanfaat bagi pencapaian cita-cita bersama, yaitu membangun kehidupan beragama yang menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai persamaan, keadilan dan perdamaian.

Prophet Muh}ammad recommends to us, the Muslims to always keep and save his Sunnah of alteration and forgery. In addition, the Prophet Muh}ammad also invited and called for his Sunnah preserved and passed on to others. Instead, the Prophet threatens those who lie on his behalf, also those who add and subtract, especially falsifying his hadith, criticism of honor becomes a necessity in the narration hadith. If at the present time, the researchers? hadith criticism has been presented with the concept of honor that has been established, it is different from previous periods. Criticism of honor has a history that may not be forgotten and will always experience growth. Discussion on the issue will be reviewed in this article. The article also stated that the seriousness of the researchers? tradition from generation to generation has never diminished, despite the criticism of the method used matn not exactly the same as before.

Historically, the study of hadith in Islam emerged as the study of sîrah. Both of these disciplines appear as awareness and concern of the classical Muslim scholars to the purity and preservation of the historical mission of the Prophet Muhammad. The contribution of hadith to the formation of Islamic historiography in general, is not only just limited to the provision of material which is enormous for writing sîrah, but also has implications for the formation of Islamic historiography writing methods, such as the method isnâd as a character of hadith expert, and the chronological method as the character of historians. Al-Tabaqât al-Kabîr by Ibn Sa?d (w. 230 H.) is considered as a pioneering work that elaborates on two systems. Even when viewed as an integrative, the works of Ibn Sa?d regarded as the only one pioneering work who elaborates three forms of historiography at once (sîrah, maghâzî, and asmâ? al-rijâl). Collaborative forms of Islamic historiography in the works of Ibn Sa?d is certainly a new breakthrough in the classical historiography art which is in previously only in fragmentary form.

This article tries to explain the concept of Islamic wasa?îyah (Islamic moderate) from the prophetic ?adîth point of view. It, then, attempts to elaborate the prophet?s attitudes and sayings which have to do with the issue of moderation. It should be noted that many researches have focused more on the polemical ?adîth that are mistreated by some radical Muslims to legitimate their arguments, but are little to investigate the moderation side of the ?adîth. Methodologically, the article employs thematic method to collect ?adîth from the classical book and then analyze it by the contextual frame. By searching of the terminological explanation of moderation, it can be summarized that the prophetic ?adîth has little to say about moderation in term of wasa?îyah, but there has ample of word which is equivalent to the term, that is al-qa?d. Those ?adîth has brought several principles and characteristics, such like al-khayrîyah (chosen), al-?adâlah (fairness), al-tasâmu? (tolerant attitude), al-tawâzun (balance), al-istiqâmah (consistency), and raf? al-?araj (eliminating difficulties). Those principles are significant in terms of demonstrating the peaceful life and arguing the violent and intolerant conducts. The contextual analysis of the ?adîth has argued that those values should be put on the universal principles which Islam has come along with.

Ibn H{anbal was a great mujaddid Islam with the final work hadith titled al-Musnad. Musnad is a hadith which contains a range of devices beyond the author himself, namely: (1) the teacher as transmitter of the tradition, (2) management through the involvement of his family, and (3) generation of editing afterwards, (4) the reclassification composition for service development literature, and (5) i?râb against him. The latter two devices make the referensif Musnad rises higher. Musnad strategies are (1) the involvement of the gate-keeper as the key to unlocking the information, (2) checking the validity of data through cross-check and overtime, and (3) the transformation of information to open criticism. Musnad role in the science of hadith are (1) collection of hadith which are highest among the narrators, (2) the methodology of the strategies used; and (3) contribution to the tradition of jurisprudence. In that role there contributive involvement in the preparation of Musnad second line in an orderly manner, the addition of hadith from other sources, and updates the edition.

One aspect that makes a bunch of people does not believe in the existence and role of sunnah is the delay of codification itself. Peoples also considered that hadith?s codified in various references are not what are worth ascribed to the Prophet, but rather a form of the companions comprehension of the Prophet?s directives and statements. That is why, there are different editorial ranges between one companion to another, even the mutawâtir lafzî was not separated from this editorial differences. This paper high lights how was the process of hadith codification, so that we can find a common points which are closely related to the authenticity and validity of a hadith. Studying on such topic (the process of hadith codification and classification), shows how professional the hadith scholars in memorizing and maintaining Sunnah of the Prophet, to bring the science of isnâd (?ilm al-isnâd) which is never possessed by any other religion. This is the climax of the way clergy maintaining the authenticity of the Prophet sayings. That is, whenever one states todays about a hadith, definitely, its authenticity and validity would be detected through the scienc.

Wa?dat al-wujûd is a doctrine that believes in the ultimate form of God. While the universe is believed as a shadow that totally depends on the Creator (?aqq Ta?âlâ). Wa?dat al-wujûd is one of the most inciting topics debated by Muslim scholars in the middle time of Islam. The opponents of wa?dat al-wujûd has used to accuse it as heresy. They consider wa?dat al-wujûd as theologically rooted from Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Platonism and Neoplatonism. The opponents of wa?dat al-wujûd generally come from ?literal-minded? theologians. They tend to understand the Qur?an and ?adîth in its outward meaning. Whereas the inner meaning has abundantly been contained in the Qur?an. This paper is an effort to analyze some verses of the Qur?an by using ta?wîl (esoteric analysis) and to some extent is a reflection on Syamsuddin al-Sumatrani?s teaching. In the end, this paper argues that although literally term of wa?dat al-wujûd does not exist in the Qur?an, however, the analysis shows that the teaching of wa?dat al-wujûd is definitely rooted in the Qur'an.

Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. It is of course also has a significant correlation with the need for a true understanding of the Koran as the main guideline in the life of a Muslim. This paper attempts to discuss the development of interpretation studies in Indonesia. However, because of the many works of commentary that exist in Indonesia, then this paper will explain in more detail in the full interpretation 30 chapters, while the commentaries that are thematic, and which only focus on certain papers will cover more briefly author so hopefully this study will cover the whole work of interpretation that exist in Indonesia comprehensively but solid content. The development of the interpretation of the Koran in Indonesia is somewhat different. Study commentary in the Arab world develop quickly and rapidly, because Arabic is the language, so they do not experience significant difficulties to understand the Koran. This is different to the Indonesian people whose native language is not Arabic.

The emergence of comprehension to back to the Koran and Sunnah in Indonesia is not only driven by the reality of Islamic beliefs which is mixing with other elements, but also caused by the system of understanding of Islamic teaching which are considered less precise. Call it like understanding the meaning of sunnah, ijtihâd, ittibâ?, taqlîd, and others. Ahmad Hassan, a Muslim thinker who is affiliated to the organizations that called PERSIS, came up to take a role in the struggle of the above problems. Armed with a depth of knowledge, a breadth of knowledge and mastery of sciences, Hassan appeared to prove that the Koran and Sunnah has been more than adequate as a source of Islamic teachings without requiring additional elements. In this regard, it is important to listen to his ideas in the field of hadith as the second source after the Koran. This simple paper tries to capture the thought of Hassan?s hadith and his contribution to the development of hadith studies in Indonesia.

This article aims to find out how the opinion of IbnKathîr and Rashîd Rid}a about naskh in the Qur?an? How did IbnKathîr and Rashîd Rid}a interpret the verses about religious freedom that were claimed to be annulled? And what are the implications for the interpretation of texts about religious freedom? The research method is a library research, with the object of religious freedom verses claimed to be annulled in the book of IbnKathîr and RashîdRid}â. Using the descriptive-analytical and comparative analysis with Hermeneutics Romansis Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher approach, the article argues thatIbnKathîr acknowledges the existence of naskh in the Qur?an, but not everything said as annulled is received by him. While Rashîd Rid}a rejects the theory of naskh in the Qur?an. Related to interpretation, IbnKathîr and Rashîd Rid}a reject the opinion of naskh against the verses of religious freedom. Though Rashîd Rid}a seems more emphatically for his refusal. Being the most important implications are that the verses of religious freedom are fundamental and universal, so it is impossible for them to be annulled; the need for change in the paradigm of the law lapsed; and the creation of a peaceful religious life.

In a certain problem was also still found various editorial hadith that seem contradiction between which one hadith the and with the other one hadith from this point was born the discussion of naskh in the hadith. This paper finds thas scholars divided in two on responding the naskh, namely (1) scholars who accept the existence of naskh al-hadîth and (2) scholars who rejet the naskh al-hadîth. Naskh does not reduce the perfection of revelation because in the naskh there is no purpose to measure the level of adherence to Allah and as a form of God compassion in human.
