Abstract

Palynological study of the Mentawir Formation, Lower Kutai Basin, East Kalimantan has been conducted on the 27 selected cutting samples of the 'X' Well in the depth of interval 100'-4.140 'which is situated in 'DNA' Field The purpose of this study is to determine the age and depositional environment and biostratigraphic sequence of the sediment. The age of the sediment is primarily marked by the last appearance of Florschuetzia trilobata at 850', range from Middle Miocene to Late Miocene. The Middle Miocene age occupies sediments from interval 850'-4.140 , whilst the Late Miocene  age covers sediments from interval 100'-850'. Delta environment of the interval samples were deposited in lower delta plain (distal) to the delta front (distal). Based on the changes on the amount of the taxa group in the mangrove and freshwater ecology as well as the changes in the sedimentation, thus the biostratigraphic sequence of the 2 X2 Well with depth of interval 100'- 4.140' in 2 DNA2 field lies in the Transgressive System Tract to the Highstand System Tract.

Abstract

Tobacco is a highly valuable commodity and Cucumber mmosaic vvirus (CMV) is an economically important disease. This study was aimed to determine the effectiveness of compost extract inducing systemic resistance in cigar tobacco against CMV. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design (RBD) with two factors (5/K x2/V). K factor consisted of five types of three kinds of compost extract, Pseudomonas putida and control, while factor V consisted of 2 types of with or without virus inoculation. Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Its effectiveness was assessed by observing severity of the disease at 24, 27, 31, 36, 40, and 44 days after virus inoculation. The result showed that application of compost extract or P. putida Pf-20 on 15 days before inoculation of CMV could induce the systemic resistance of cigar tobacco and extended to the period of incubation up to 22 days. Rice straw compost extract was more effective than leaf litter compost extract or coffee husks. However, the indication effectiveness of those three extract were lower than P. putida.

Abstract

Pneumonia constitutes the greatest disease that causing death among children under-five in the world. Risk of death can be decreased, if the illness were identified early, treated appropriately and prevention efforts. The study aimed to determine the influence of in-house environmental risk factor against the prevalence of pneumonia in children. The study used cross-sectional design with descriptive method which consisted of 2.408 samples of 80.329 households from Riskesdas 2007 data. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate of Chi-square to get the level of risk by odds ratio, as well as the significance of correlation between dependent and independent variables of the study. The results showed that significant correlation between the type of floor (OR = 1.209; CI 95%) and fuel type (OR = 1.683; CI 95%) with prevalence of pneumonia children under-five. Conclusion of the study is that the floor type and the fuel have significant correlation with the prevalence of pneumonia, while the crowding and the presence of household members whom smoke could be not described its correlation clearly.

Abstract

Literature has a spesific charachter. It informs many things to various kinds of readers. Postmodern literature art as a new genre brings impact on the ambiguity of meaning because of the logocentrism rejection. As a product of postmodern literature, Danarto 's literature work tries to deconstruct the convention about signifier and signified. Postmordern is to deconstruct the construction to create a new comfortable construction. The latest phenomena of literature progression of dark poetry, experimental poetry, minimalist poetry, and Danarto 's short story tend to ignore the stucture. It is hard to apreciate those literature works by applying modern theory. The appropiate theory to explore the meaning is deconstruction of Derrida.

Abstract

Biological diversity was an invaluable asset because it had amazing potency. The uniqueness of nature and its climate had put Indonesia as megabiodiversity country. In other side, high exploration of resources and policies have a little concern on ecology and biodiversity preservation had threatened sustainability of species. Regulation of Forestry Minister number 324/2010 stated Tulobolo-Pinogu Resort of Boganinani Wartabone National Park as a limited production forest. According Government Regulation Number 7/1999, ebony (Diospyros spp.) was protected species. The objective of this research was to inventory all of tree species in Tulabolo-Pinogu especially eboni as to attempt of biodiversity conservation. This study used transect lines method with 3 hectare sampling area. This research found 6 species of ebony, 3 has been reported that D. buxifolia, D. minahassae and D. korthalsiana, 3 newly reporte D. cauliflora, D. malabarica and D. pilosanthera. All of ebony were found is very limited and vulnerable.

Abstract

Knowledge on physical properties of seafloor sediments is essential in planning offshore construction, in particular oil and gas construction. Changes in the physical properties of sediments such as faults and fractures, as well as the presence of gas within seafloor sediments can be detected as a decrease in acoustic wave velocity due to reduction in sediment shear strength. Normalization of Cimanuk River in early 1980s has resulted in higher sediment influx and increasing rate of compaction that change the physical properties of the sediment. Analysis of amplitude and wave velocity using software SonarWiz 5 on the records obtained from sounding equipment: Sub-Bottom Profiler type ODEC Strata Box and Bathy 1500, show significant change in wave speed that is caused by shallow gas seepage associated with fractures in the Polygonal Fault System (PFS ). This fault system formed as a result of diagenetic processes of fine grain sediment and reduction of the sediment shear strength due to accumulated sediment cover. Shallow gas seepage itself is commonly found in organic-rich marine sediments and are usually composed of methane.
