Abstract

The economic crisis that attacks Indonesia has yet to be solved even that several policies taken by the government to overcome the problem are not in accordance with the reform spirit and unpopular. In order that we can understand about the problem more well, then we need to reobserve the root of this economic crisis problem. This observation uses the view of capitalist economics theory with the discussion in the aspect of market mechanism and the democracy of delegation theory. In the discussion, it is mentioned that the capitalist economic system wishes to have a certain political system that allows the people s preference to the social welfare level to be optimal for itself which it is accommodated by their delegation in government. In reality, the commitment of the capitalist economic system is not the healthy democracy tradition system. Thus, the market mechanism does not yield an optimal solution for large people's welfare.

The objective of the study was to analyze the effect of per capita GDP on CO2 emissions and to prove the hypothesis of the Kuznets environment curve. Method for analyzing data by using multiple linear regression with quadratic equation. The results show that GDP per capita has a positive and significant influence on CO2 emissions, as well as the square GDP per capita has a negative and significant influence on CO2 emissions, so the Kuznets Environment Curve's hypothesis can be proven.

Abstract

One of the efforts to increase people's income is by applying economic models that are suitable for the community. This model places emphasis on lower class community economic empowerment so that eventually they can be economically self-sufficient. To apply an economy model suitable for that particular source, around the area of Sungai Melayu, particularly Piansak village is one of the efforts suggested. The method applied for this research is Action Research. For the first year, the main task is to identify the local area. Only after a feasibility study being done on the data found, then a system of Society Economy Model will be implemented accordingly. The further steps will follow based on the result yielded of first-year-research. The potential businesses suitable to the area, possibly will be businesses in raising livestock or poultry, such as

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the causality between democracy and economic growth in Indonesia for the period of 1995 to 2017. More specifically, this paperĀ  also attends to investigate the existence of a long-run relationship between them. This study perform a multivariate cointegration test with political stability as a control variable and cross-check this long-run relationship with an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model approach to cointegration. This study also use the Granger causality test within a vector error correction model (VECM) framework and estimate three different models using a non-linear specification: Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimation, Fully Modified OLS (FM-OLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS). The results show cointegration among the variables specified in the model when political stability is taken into account. Indeed, for economic growth and democracy to move together in the long run, they need to be associated with political stability. The tests for Granger causality conducted show a long-run causality running from GDP and political stability to democracy. In other word, the economic growth and political stability Granger cause democracy. It is the economic performance that influences democracy and not the reverse. In short-run, there is neutrality causation between democracy and growth, democracy and political stability, growth and political stability. These results suggest that economic growth through strong institutions is a precondition for democratization.

Abstract

This study analyzes the performance of the Indonesian banking sector efficiency and peeling technique factors that lead to inefficiencies that could reduce the bank's internal performance using Data Envelopment Analisys model (DEA). Research on the efficiency of banking techniques in Indonesia in 2000-2004 conducted using secondary data analysis including balance sheets and income statements of banks in Indonesia 12, the number of bank offices, and the number of bank employees in 2000 until 2004. Results of DEA analysis for the entire group decreased efficiency of banks during the crisis, except Bank Mandiri. This means that Bank Mandiri has the best performance compared to other banks. Inefficiency generally caused by using less than optimal inputs to produce output. Inputs that have not been completely allocated are assets and labor are not on optimizing the range below 50 percent. To produce the maximum efficiency, the bank must increase the use of its inputs to 100 percent.

Abstract

This research found that there is a positive significant relationship between concentration ratio and performance in cigarette industry but there is a negative no significant relationship between advertising behavioral and performance. These findings rather different to common SCP theory, especially in advertising behavioral and performance. The rationale behind these findings is advertising behavioral was not used as a product differentiation strategy or as a barrier to entry but as to increase concentration ratio. Anticigarette campaign in live style advertising supports this rationale. Another finding was a negative significant relationship between capital and performance. This finding completed labor-performance relationship argument with capital-performance relationship. However, the negative sign implicitly supported labor-intensive argument.
