Abstract

The objective of the research to compare of Zimmer twins website tool as digital storytelling than use nondigital in writing text narrative on students writing ability at the eleventh grade of MA  Yayasan Sirojul  Islam Sukolilo 2018/2019 academic year. Zimmer twins media is an animated movie maker based on the website for the students to create their short stories in movies with many emotion, etc. The sample of this research the Eleventh of MA YASI those are XI- 1 class as the experimental class, and the X1-2 class as the control class consisted of 20 students. The method in this research was a quantitative method. In addition, the design used  was quasi-experimental research, and the instrument used a test. The research was taken by using non-random sampling. Moreover, this research was conducted through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatments and giving post-test. The data analyzed and processed by using the statistic data calculation of ANCOVA by SPSS 23 program. The significant was shown by the students post-test mean in experimental class is 76.55 and the mean post-test in control class is 70.55. The result of the statistical hypothesis testing found from p-value was 0.000. It is lower than the level significant of 0.05. If p-value ≤ from the level significant 0.05. It means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. Abstract

Indonesian movies make foreigners interested to watch it. English subtitle is the solution to make Indonesian movies worldwide. Subtitle’s strategies to make good subtitle is very important to make clear subtitle. The objective of the research are to identify subtitling strategies subtitle used in translating The Raid 2 movie and to describe the subtitling clarity of The Raid 2 movie’s English subtitle. The research method used is descriptive approach. The data are required from three source, they are the script of The Raid 2 movie, the reader evaluation and the expert evaluation. This research uses documentation as the technique of collecting data. The researchers use data, investigator, and theory triangulation to make this research can be trusted. The results of this research show that: (1) there are 11 strategies that subtitle used in translating The Raid 2 movie; (2) the clarity of subtitle in The Raid 2 movie is high. The percentage of subtitling clarity from respondents is 91, 02%. The researchers obtain 41 subtitles included into lowest score, 154 subtitles included into medium score, and 681 subtitles included into high score.

Abstract

Students of the Elementary School have core competencies and basic competencies that must be achieved according to the 2013 curriculum contained in Minister of Education and Culture Regulation number 24 of 2016 concerning Core Competencies and Basic Competencies of Learning in the 2013 Curriculum on Basic Education and Secondary Education. In PERMENDIKBUD number 24 (2018) it is stated that curriculum objectives include four competencies, namely (1) spiritual attitude competency, (2) social attitude, (3) knowledge, and (4) skills. The competency is achieved through extracurricular, curricular and / or extracurricular learning processes. The importance of the correct use of terms in learning materials in schools is one of the important things where in the academic world the use of standard language is a must. In sports and health physical education material which on several occasions uses the term in English, remembering that sports culture originates from a global culture that uses the English term needs to be mastered appropriately by physical and physical education teachers. The questionnaire is used as a data collection tool that uses descriptive quantitative analysis and research data will be obtained from a questionnaire filled out by elementary school PJOK teacher participants in Bangkalan who attended the basic motion material socialization event carried out by the STKIP PGRI Bangkalan sports education study program. Data analysis techniques used by researchers in looking at the percentage of respondents from the questionnaire distributed. Based on the results of the research and discussion above it can be concluded that the understanding of the knowledge of the accuracy of the use of English terminology in the material of large ball games physical and sport education and the results of the analysis have shown that the accuracy of elementary school teachers in using the terminology in English to teach sports the body in elementary school the results are quite good.

Abstract

Review words is type of vocabulary building which is the easiest way to checking how is the students’ understanding dealing with the previous vocabulary given, especially for college students. Classroom observation research was used as the method in this study. The method is divided into some stages namely review, reduce, recycle, vocab college, role reversal, word soup, and vocab box.  It is a method of straightly observing teaching process, which the observer taking notes, and/or coding instructional performances in the classroom or from recorded activities or lesson. It is going to define some steps that we need to apply the review words. Moreover, it is still important to upgrading collage students’ vocabulary because English as EFL will be very difficult term to reach when they are not seriously concern about the vocabulary. This paper will discuss the importance of using review words in checking students understanding in the certain level of English skill.

Abstract

Technology is developing fast nowadays. All fields of life have implemented sophisticated technology, including agriculture, food processing, the automotive industry, and even entertainment. Technological competition actually has positive and negative impacts such as unemployment, cold war between countries, and terrorism. To follow news of the development of a country is actually very easy. The news can be seen on the web, social media and TV. One of the easiest is TV. To be able to follow the development of other countries through TV, can be seen through foreign TV channels. Some of the famous ones are NHK, Channel News Asia, France24, DW, Aljazeera, and Russia Today. This study aims to determine the process of teaching English using satellite TV and whether the use of satellite TV media can improve the students’ English mastery. This study uses a Class Research (CAR) approach. The implementation model in this study uses four steps: identifying problems and planning actions; implementing actions and observing or monitoring actions; reflection of the results of observations; and revise plans for the next step. This research uses 2 cycles in the learning process. The subjects of this study were third semester students of the English Education Study Program at NU University, Sunan Giri Bojonegoro in the academic year of 2019/2020. This research was carried out in the room U8 of NU University, Sunan Giri Bojonegoro. The results of this study are: In the pre-test, the number of students who passed a total of 6 students (17.14%) with an average score of 63.71. In the first cycle, the number of students who passed was 19 students (54.28%) with an average score of 73. In the second cycle, the number of students who passed was 33 students (94.28%) with an average score of 78.43. Based on the average score of the pre-test, cycle I, and cycle II it can be concluded that the use of satellite TV can improve the students’ English mastery at NU Sunan Giri University.Technology is developing fast nowadays. Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify how to develop and how is the quality of a prototype instructional video to help English teachers at SMA Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja develop their questioning skills in teaching English. This study was a Design and Development research following ADDIE steps: Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation and evaluation. The study showed that there were four steps to develop the prototype, they were: planning, creating prototype, prototype testing and upgrading the preliminary prototype. Also, the study suggested that the prototype was considered a good instructional video for developing questioning skills. Each evaluator completed a quantitative questionnaire and made qualitative comments. The quantitative analysis scored 98% for content, 93% for media, and 90% from users. Those numbers are categorized as very good product where it does not need any revision. Indeed, qualitative analysis gained some suggestions and comments from the experts where there are some weaknesses in the area of content and media. Though there were some revisions for the prototype, the prototype was considered as a good prototype to be finalized later as a ready-to-use product. Implication for future researcher to develop the prototype to a final product for English teachers’ professional learning is mentioned.

Abstract

The purposes of the research are to describe the implementation, advantages and disadvantages, and solution from disadvantages of teaching reading by using Cornell Note strategy. The research uses descriptive qualitative research as approach and type of research. The sources of data are social situation, participant, and document. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, and documentation. To know the validity of the data, the researcher uses methodology triangulation. The technique of data analysis are data condensation, data display, conclusion and verification.The result of the research shows that the implementation of Cornell Note strategy has three steps included pre-activity, whilst- activity, and post- activity. The pre-activities include greeting, praying, checking students’ attendence and explaining the purpose of the meeting. The whilst- activities, the teacher explains how the procedures to read the text by using Cornell Note strategy. The procedures are prepare the worksheet, takes note in right column, write the question in left column, summarize information in bottom space, recite the note. Lastly, post- activities include reviewing and making resume of the material. The advantages are; first, can help the students to analyze the important information in the text. Second, motivate to read a text. Third, train the students’ concentration. Lastly, make the students enjoy in learning reading. Meanwhile, the disadvantages are; first, the students are difficult to know the meaning of the word in the text and make the question with correct structure into English. Besides, the solutions for the disadvantages of implementation Cornell Note strategy are; first, the teacher gives axamples the students to make a simple question. Second, the students can search a difficult word in the dictionary. In this research, the researcher also gives suggestions for the teacher, students, the school and the onther researchers.
