Abstract

Competition in the world of work is getting tougher over time which triggers a sense of worry and lack of confidence to enter the world of work for young people who do not have work experience, particularly fresh graduates. It is theorized in this paper that, by participating in internship, students can increase their self-perceived employability, thereby reducing their career-entry worries. Specifically, the purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of internship quality on self-perceived employability through the mediation of reduced career-entry worries for final year students at Universitas Indonesia. This study administered online surveys (with 209 respondents) and in-depth interviews (with 3 source persons). The results show that internship quality has a positive influence on self-perceived employability and reduced career-entry worries. Further, self-perceived employability also positively affects reduced career-entry worries and reduced career-entry worries mediate the effect between internship quality and self -perceived employability. This study recommends that universities in Indonesia can implement a compulsory internship program for its students equally.

Abstract

Although public transport provides many benefits, such as a cleaner environment, reduced congestion, and increased sustainable transportation, many people still prefer private transport. This motivates the exploration of users’ intention to choose and use public transportation. This study explores the psychological factors of public transport users based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB). TPB assumes behavior built because of the intention. Attitude (ATT) does not determine the intention to influence behavior directly but through a combination of Subjective Norms (SN) and Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC). Responses from public transport users in Greater Bandung were collected using a questionnaire. The results show that attitude (ATT) is the most vital factor that positively influences user intention, based on standardized estimates of 0.866 (ATT), 0.301 (PBC), and 0.202 (SN). Environmental and climate issues have the most significant influence on user attitudes when compared to quality factors sorted by standardized estimated values such as travel time, safety, and fare. Previous research revealed that the dominant factor was quality, but in this study, it switched to factors of transportation activities that affect the environment. In fact, the factor of ease of use and encouragement of information media is crucial to be considered by stakeholders.

Abstract

Bandung, the capital of West Java, is 2021 Indonesia's most crowded city. Congestion happens even then since the number of cars in Bandung has grown by an average of 11% annually. To overcome the congestion, the Ministry of Transportation Republic Indonesia programme created the "Teman Bus" programme in December 2021. Therefore, this study explores the impact of factors influencing passenger loyalty towards public bus services. A cross-sectional survey of bus users in Bandung was conducted in June 2022, with 211 respondents. The data were analysed using structural equation modelling. Using PLS-SEM, the relationship between constructs and loyalty was examined, and importance-performance map analysis was used to determine which drivers should prioritise increasing levels of a target construct of interest. The results indicate that perceived safety and security, perceived service quality, and image significantly influence loyalty. It also implies that those three variables, as revealed by the study's findings of the importance and performance matrix, need to be improved to increase customer loyalty when it comes to bus services.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of human capital on funding success in the context of Equity Crowdfunding (ECF) by analyzing data from 72 start-up companies seeking funding through SANTARA, the first ECF platform in Indonesia. Our findings indicate that various human capital indicators, including the number of directors, team members, economics undergraduate education, and graduates from foreign universities, do not significantly influence ECF success. However, we observed an intriguing result: start-up leaders with undergraduate degrees have a negative impact on crowdfunding success, leading to longer funding durations. This suggests that start-ups in Indonesia should not solely prioritize leaders with impressive educational backgrounds but should also consider individuals with practical experience in the business industry to enhance their chances of crowdfunding success.

Abstract

The research objective is to understand the challenges of digitalisation of Swiss medium-sized enterprises and their satisfaction with current measurement methods, and to develop a measurement model to evaluate the performance of their digital projects. The research methodology involved a comprehensive literature review, followed by interviews with experts from 15 medium sized companies. The analysis revealed that Swiss medium sized enterprises not only lack the appropriate tools to measure their digital projects’ performance but are also facing challenges caused by the lack of financial resources and time to implement digital projects; and the difficulty of finding the right people to execute digital projects. The results from the research include a measurement model for digital projects. This model supports managers in making effective decisions regarding their digital projects, allocating resources more effectively, and enhancing overall organizational performance. The research outcomes are not necessarily generalizable to other enterprises (other size, other nations). However, they show that in the context of digital projects, Swiss medium-sized companies need a measurement model to evaluate the performance and success since such technologies/projects are associated with financial costs. For future research, the developed model should be tested with different firms in an operational handling where effective past or future projects would be measured. This could further explore the applicability of the model to different sized enterprises or those in other nations.

Abstract

Abstract. Digital transformation is inevitable for organizations to remain competitive in the current business landscape. In reality, organizations rely heavily on their human capabilities to achieve digital transformation goals. However, most studies have neglected this dynamic component and have focused instead on organizational readiness. This study strives to fill such a research gap by uncovering digital talent capabilities that could accelerate digital transformation. We propose a conceptual model based on a literature review and enriched by qualitative research in a representative Telecommunication Company. The conceptual model highlights attitudes to change as a critical factor in transforming individual capability towards digital transformation. The model also explains how culture and digital literacy can positively relate to digital talents’ attitudes towards change and performance. Besides giving theoretical contributions to support the literature, the study’s outcomes can be utilized by organizations intending to transform their human capitals’ digital capabilities. Although there is still a possibility of real behavior arising from individual problem-solving habits, the paper ends with some recommendations, stressing the need for future empirical work. Keywords:  Attitudes to Change, Culture, Digital Literacy, Digital Talent Capability, Performance

Abstract. Ascribing the attainment of positive peace to the voluntary active participation of the members in organized labor poses a great deal especially in attempting to attain an industrial peace. This research explores the problem of how union citizenship is considered as a furtive spirit of positive peace that can contribute to the development of industrial peace. It embraces a qualitative content analysis’ conventional methodology and process employed on the shared knowledge and experiences of the members of a trade or workers’ union, purposively chosen as respondents. The results presented the various duties and responsibilities of the respondents as union members. It conveyed the concrete expressions of union citizenship of the respondents, using the common behavioral determinants as categories, and the positive peace domains as major themes. It also provided the different possible contributions of union citizenship to the attainment of human development and industrial peace which was considered as an essential facet of nation-building. The results concluded with the call for promoting the union citizenship in any organized labor that will assist the workers and management to continuously work together and act as a catalyst of change to induce positive peace in the workplace and attain industrial peace. Keywords:  Industrial Peace, Organizational Citizenship Behaviors, Positive Peace, Trade union, Union Citizenship.
