Abstract

Tropical almond (Terminalia catappa) seed shell and candlenut (Aleurites molucanna L. Willd) seed shell has a huge potential as a source of alternative energy in the manufacture of coal briquettes. This research has been conducted using method of carbonization, mixing, molding, drying and then the briquettes quality was analyzed with test parameters namely inherent moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content and calorific value. The results showed that mixture of tropical almond seed shell and candlenut seed shell can be used as briquettes. In this study, the best quality briquettes with mixture variation of tropical almond seed shell and candlenut seed shell was obtained in mixture variation of 25% tropical almond seed shell and 75% candlenut seed shell with calorific value was 5043 cal/gr, fixed carbon content was 47.22%, volatile matter content was 25.96%, ash content was 4.7% and inherent moisture content was 22.11%. But 100% candlenut seed shell also have a good quality briquettes with calorific value was 5098 cal/gr, fixed carbon content was 47.23%, volatile matter content was 28.44%, ash content was 4.24% and inherent moisture content was 20.08%. Abstract

Amylase producing bacteria have been isolated from Dondang hot springs in Muara Jawa sub-district based on clear zone. Dondang hot springs became the site of the discovery of thermostable bacteria. Obtained 1 selected isolate showed amylase activity with the formation of clear zone around the colony on solid media containing 1% starch. Based on the morphology and physiology tests the selected isolates showed the genus Bacillus sp. The results showed total protein concentration of crude extract of enzyme from amylase producing bacteria isolate that is 2, 4068 μg /mL. Abstract

Penelitian tentang uji fitokimia, toksisitas dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kasar batang bakau hitam (Rhizophora mucronata Lam.) telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui senyawa metabolit, dan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak kasar metanol. Metode yang digunakan diantaranya uji fitokimia dilakukan dengan uji warna, uji toksisitas dilakukan dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test dan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak kasar batang bakau hitam mengandung senyawa flavonoid, fenolik dan triterpenoid. Pada hasil uji toksisitas dari ekstrak kasar metanol memiliki nilai LC50 sebesar 420,9017 ppm dan hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak kasar metanol memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 119,432 ppm. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan ekstrak kasar metanol dengan nilai LC50 memiliki tingkat toksisitas yang toksik dan nilai IC50 memiliki kekuatan aktivitas antioksidan sedang. Abstract

Penelitian tentang penurunan kandungan Linier Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) pada limbah laundry dengan Elektrokoagulasi-Flokulasi telah dilakukan. Untuk memperoleh hasil penelitian, optimasi dilakukan dengan berbagai variasi. Optimasi yang dilakukan antara lain optimasi waktu, optimasi tegangan, optimasi penambahan NaCl dan optimasi pengadukan dengan alat jar test. Instrumen pengukuran dengan menggunakan alat spectrophotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari penelitian penurunan kandungan Linier Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) dari waktu kontak pada titik optimum 150 menit sebesar 74,58 %; kuat tegangan pada titik optimum 12 volt sebesar 69,34 %; penambahan kadar NaCl pada titik optimum 0,75 gr sebesar 52,86 %; dan dari optimasi pengadukan lambat dengan alat jar test pada titik optimum 20 rpm sebesar 17,92 %. Hasil penurunan kandungan Linier Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) pada limbah laundry dengan waktu, kuat tegangan, kadar NaCl dan pengadukan optimum didapatkan sebesar 73,51 %. Abstract

Penelitian tentang uji toksisitas dan uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit batang tumbuhan sikkam (Bischovia javanica Blume) telah dilakukan. Hasil dari uji fitokimia pada kulit batang tumbuhan sikkam mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder yaitu senyawa fenolik, flavonoid dan triterpenoid. Berdasarkan hasil uji toksisitas dengan metode BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) pada ekstrak kasar metanol diperoleh nilai LC50 sebesar 56,92 ppm yang menunjukkan tingkat toksisitas yang toksit sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai obat antikanker. Berdasarkan hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH menunjukkan pada ekstrak kasar metanol diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 9,1878 ppm. Dari hasil uji antioksidan diketahui bahwa pada ekstrak kasar metanol kulit batang tumbuhan sikkam memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 9,1878 ppm. Abstract

An Analysis of Lead Metal Ion Levels (Pb2+) has been conducted on water, Cat fish (Pangasius pangsius), Gold fish (Cyprinus carpio L) and Parrot fish (Oreochromis sp.) in abandoned coal mine lake in Tenggarong Seberang sub-district. This research was intended to determine the Pb metal ion levels inside water and fish also to understand its appropriateness to be consumed by humans. This research was done with using destruction method on the woven basket water sample and fish’s meat sample (Catfish, Goldfish, and Parrotfish) and then proceed the analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Pb levels acquired in this research are 0,039 in Parrot fish woven basket, 0,031 ppm in Goldfish woven basket that exceeds the quality standards threshold according to PP RI No. 82 Tahun 2001, dissimiliar with Pb levels in Catfish woven basket in the amount of 0,016 ppm which is still far below the threshold. While the Pb levels in all three fishes are under standard quality threshold according to SNI 7387:2009 about maximum limit of heavy metal contamination inside foods, where the levels in Parrot fish is 0,138 ppm, goldfish meat as 0,060 ppm and catfish meat as 0,041 ppm. Abstract

A study on the synthesis and characterization of mesoporous silicas SBA-15 (Santa Barbara Acid 15) from bamboo leaf ash. SBA-15 from bamboo leaf ash leaves was synthesized by modification of the microemulsion template method. SBA-15 was characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption analyzer, SAXS (Small Angel X-Ray Difraction), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). N2 adsorption/desorption analyses showed that SBA-15 has type IV isotherms, with H1 type hysteresis which was a characteristic of mesoporous materials. ​​SBA-15 from bamboo leaf ash has surface are (calculated by BET method) of 698 m2 / g, pore volume of 0.81 cm3 /g and pore diameter of 4.66 nm. In the difractogram appeared 3 typical peaks of SBA-15 between 0.5 - 5o 2θ with miller indices (100), (110) and (200), respectively. The FTIR spectrum showed peaks from siloxane (Si-O-Si) and hydroxyl groups (-OH). The SEM pictures showed that the morphology of SBA-15 was a combination of platelets and spheres with the average particle size of 0.5 μm. Kata kunci: Bamboo leaf Ash, SBA – 15

Abstract

There has been research on the utilization of activated charcoal carbon as an adsorben of cerbera manghas shell in metal ions Mn. This research was intended to find the effects of pH value, contact period and to determine the maximum adsorptive capacity Mn metal ions by cerbera manghas shell activated carbon. The adsorption process have been variate of pH 2, 3, 4, 5 dan 6; contact time variation 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 and 90 minutes; concentration variation 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mg/L. The analysis of metal ions Mn concentration by cerbera manghas shell activated carbon by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The result of this research shows that cerbera manghas activated carbon could adsorb metal ion Mn. The optimum condition was achieved at the pH 2 with a number of metal ions that adsorbed at 9,689 mg/L, with optimum period of 90 minutes with a number of metal ions that adsorbed at 9.414 mg/L, as for optimum concentration was achieved at the cosentration 100 mg/L with a number of metal ions that adsorbed at 25,932 mg/L. Abstract

Adsorpsi ion logam Fe menggunakan biochar dari pirolisis lambat Macaranga gigantea telah dipelajari. Adsorpsi biochar terhadap ion logam Fe memiliki pH optimum 4 dengan persen adsorpsi sebesar 93,0% dan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 8,98 mg/g. Adsorpsi biochar terhadap ion logam Fe memiliki waktu optimum 15 menit dengan persen adsorpsi sebesar 83,77% dan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 8,03 mg/g. Adsorpsi biochar terhadap ion logam Fe memiliki konsentrasi optimum 25 mg/L dengan persen adsorpsi sebesar 93,07% dan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 8,98 mg/g.
