Urban development is inseparable from the problem of the urban informal. The informal sector is a sector that will always grow and thrive. Various issues that arise in urban development is the problem of the location of the activity space street vendors (PKL) in the urban space. The problem of space activity occurs in the informal street vendors space settlements or urban space. PKL is one of the supporters of the activity in a public space that can be categorized as an 'activity support'. These activities tend to be located in a place according to its activity. Meanwhile, there is little discussion of urban street vendors in view space. Until now, the discussion is more to the economic, social and policy. In addition, many of the types of activities studied, space requirements, physical arrangement and the arrangement of the display / architectural aesthetics. The methodology used in conducting the study concerns the location of street vendors in the urban space using the method of literature revie. Given this method, can identify deficiencies / weaknesses of the informal sector theory and the theory of space to determine the location of street vendors in urban spaces. The conclusion of this research is to study the behavior of PKL space that affect the determination of the location of trade.Abstract : Urban development is inseparable from the problem of the urban informal. Abstract

Regional development can be carried out with an emphasis on the basic sectors and leading commodities. The purpose of this study is twofold. The first is to determine the basic sectors, sub-sectors, and leading commodities, and the second is to analyze the suitability and allocation directives of land for leading commodities. The data used include gross regional domestic product (GDP) of West Java and the harvested area in 2011-2013.The other data are land suitability requirement, map soil types, rainfall, temperature, grade slope, erosion, map of soil units, land use, spatial plans, and administrative maps. Location Quotient (LQ) method is used to determine the basic sectors and sub-sectors. Meanwhile, the LQ and Differential Shift and Share are used to determine the leading commodities. The land suitability of leading commodities is spatially analyzed using Geographical Information System (GIS). The results have shown that the agriculture is the basic sector and food crop agriculture is and the basic sub-sector. The leading commodities are soybean, peanut, and rice. The land suitability classes are S2 and S3. The available allocation areas are 27.984 Hectares for wet-field paddy, 17.984 Hectares for peanuts, and 38.835 Hectares for soybean.

Abstract

Recent day, tourism has become one of the important (experience) industries, which has ability to promoted financial sector growth, steering physical development, and self-promotion event. In sum, tourism has many perspective fields of studies, and some of them are city-regional studies, built environment and architecture. The aim of this paper is to provide a perspective on the“design structure” and also the integration in multi-disciplinary level in a perspective of physical environmental design (built environment). The construction of ideas was done through deepening and searching of related literatures and then complemented by practices side reviewed. In the realm of physical environmental design, theoretically, there are some multi-disciplinary considerations; emotional-personal to the adaptation of physical design process. And, some of the approaches may be formed by “frame” of: architectural design, zoning and division, routes and circulation, natural condition, as well as technology utilization.

Abstract

The result of this research shows that household enterprise and activity as well as the production process which becomethe reason to have a home industry influence the spatial use by household-based enterprisers. It is seen from their productionprocesses which utilize the streets in different locations because the insufficient space in their houses. This research finds out only 8%of the enterprisers add additional rooms. Besides, there is only 85% of the enterprisers fulfill the requirement of wide standart forperson, that is 9 m². However, the overall width the enterprisers have is insufficient because the width of the building is equal withland width. This will be hard for household-based enterprises to implement the simple house criteria, that are houses as shelter andspace for business, because each household-based enterprise has different characteristic. Therefore, the relevance analysis shows thatr-value of income and spatial use is -0,015 to 0,453.The r value shows the low relevance and that income does not influence thespatial use by the enterprisers. This is propted by the fact that they do not have any willingness to add more rooms. They have alreadysatisfied by the space they have at home, no more land can be built, and that the enterprisers do not have more saving, sinceroom addition needs more money

Abstract

Started as a fishing settlement area in Bontang Kuala Village, the City of Bontang has been growing very rapidly. However, despite this growth people's standard of living has been decreasing in terms of environmental quality, income as well as sheltering with the emergence of slum areas. These conditions greatly affect the physical, social, cultural and economic aspects of life. The management of slum areas in Bontang City becomes strategic because slums are integrated with the rest of the city including the downtown area and urban growth centers, as well as with the other areas in the vicinity, such as industrial, commercial, warehousing, and office areas. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the characteristics of the slum areas. The identification methods do not discriminate the distribution of slum areas. The criteria used include non-economic vitality, regional economic vitality, land ownership status, infrastructure and facility conditions, local government’s commitment, and handling priorities. Environmental assessment of the slums was done by assigning a weighting system to each of the above criteria. The determination of the weights of the criteria is relative and depends on the individual and group preferences in looking at the influence of each criterion. The improvement or treatment patterns appropriate to be applied in Bontang City should be in accordance with the site characteristics. Locations with high-scale slum category (HS) requires the curative pattern while those with moderate category (MS) should take reductive treatment, and slum areas with low-scale category (LS) will require preventive treatment.

Abstract

The research conducted in the Yogyakarta-Surakarta Corridor is aimed at firstly understanding the dynamic of the corridor as one of the key factors to establish spatial synergism and secondly linking the findings with the recent discussion and future research agenda in urban geography. The investigation used survey research methods combined with in-depth interview with some key informants and scholars. The results of the research show that the potentials of the sub-regions within the corridor can play an important role and position to form spatial synergism in the corridor. The intra-regional proximity among sub-regions has impacted in increased efficiency in the production process. It also had an effect in reduced transportation cost. This research also found that some other issues in the corridor development such as the impact of climate change to regional development could be of interest in future research in urban geography and related fields
