Jurnal Riset Industri Hasil Hutan (JRIHH) adalah jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Balai Riset dan Standardisasi Industri Banjarbaru. JRIHH terbit 2 (dua) kali setiap tahun pada bulan Juni dan Desember dengan E-ISSN: 2503-0779 dan P-ISSN : 2086-1400. JRIHH fokus pada isu-isu sektor industri yang berhubungan dengan: 1. Abstract

Forest degradation and deforestation caused a decline in the ability of forest resources. Therefore, forest management is more serious and thoughtful in order to sustainable forest development is needed to prevent further damage . The installed capacity of the industrial units in South Kalimantan as a whole ± 2,338,329.70 m3. When yield industrially ± 50 % , it is normally necessary 4,676,594.00 m3 of raw materials, raw materials capable of being supplied by the forest ± 1,394,362.07 m3, so there is a large enough difference shortcomings, namely ± 3 million m3/year, which can be met by developing industrial tree plantation forests especially Sengon (Albizia falcataria). In order to plantation development and manufacture of the plant is directed to the formation of units HTI which is require both of managerial technic and economic aspects, so it should be directed at the development of a model of the units in accordance with the plan. Such models use Faustman models and the process is called sequent harvest (Fauzi, A. 2006). With a management system based on economic principles right (Faustman models with sequent harvest) T (time) for construction timber types Sengon (Albizia falcataria) for 12 years and a lumpsump tax arrangement system and facilitated the policy of the government, then Sengon HTI can provide sustainable benefits.Keywords: HTI, sengon, sequent harvest, lumpsum tax

Abstract

Penelitian pengawetan rotan secara rendaman dingin selama 1 jam dan 3 jam, dengan bahan pengawet asam borat dan boraks serta impralit CKB konsentrasi 3% dan 7% telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan 4 jenis rotan diameter kecil, yaitu rotan anduru (Calamus pancijigus BECC), rotan tunggal (Calamus macroanta BECC), rotan sabut (Calamus mattanensis BECC) dan rotan udang semut (Korthalsia scaphigera MART). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan retensi bahan pengawet asam borat dan boraks berkisar antara 0,49 kg/cm3 – 0,87 kg/cm3. Secara umum, lama perendaman 1 jam dengan konsentrasi 7%, serta lama perendaman 3 jam dengan konsentrasi 3% cukup efektif terhadap serangan bubuk kering Lyctus brunneus karena toksisitas minimum boraks terhadap lyctus brunneus ± 0,64 kg/cm3. Adapun untuk penetrasi, seluruh perlakuan menghasilkan penetrasi 100%.

Abstract

Palm shell waste has not been used optimally. Utilization can be as fuel in the form of biobriquette. The purpose of this research studied the effects of pressure hydraulic and adhesive concentration on biobriquette properties. Research includes palm shell crushed, screened with fineness 7 mesh, mixed with amylum adhesive solution 2.5% and 5%. Printed in diameter of 3 cm and a height of 7 cm. The emphasis with the pressure of 3 tons, 5 tons and 7 tons. Biobriqutte dried naturally. Quality analysis with refers to the National Standardization Agency (1994). Results pressure 3 tons and adhesive concentration of 5% produces the best with sulfur levels of negative value and calorific 4442.78 cal / g and qualify for household fuels. Treatment interactions pressure and concentration of adhesive very significant effect on moisture, ash, carbon, volatile matter content, density and compressive strengtth biobriqutte.Keywords:  palm shell,  consentration of adhesive, pressure hydraulics, biobriquette

Abstract

Penambahan senyawa bor (natrium tetraborat dan asam borat) pada proses pembuatan kayu lapis dengan cara pelaburan pada venir  face dan venir back sebanyak      2 kali dan 4 kali ulangan. Konsentrasi 30%, 40% dan 50%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperlambat proses pembakaran atau mengurangi nilai uji bakar pada kayu lapis.  Penelitian menunjukkan pelaburan venir sebanyak 4 kali menggunakan senyawa bor dengan konsentrasi 50% dapat memperlambat pembakaran atau menurangi nilai uji bakar sebesar 18,15%.  Penambahan konsentrasi dan jumlah pelaburan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap retensi dan uji bakar, namun tidak mempengaruhi pada kadar air dan keteguhan rekat kayu lapis.

Abstract

Dalam masyarakat pedesaan di Indonesia, bambu memegang peranan penting dalam kehidupannya. Bambu dikenal oleh masyarakat mempunyai sifat-sifat yang baik untuk dimanfaatkan antara lain batangnya yang cukup kuat, keras, lurus dan rata, mudah dibelah, mudah dibentuk dan mudah dikerjakan. Dibandingkan dengan kayu, bambu mempunyai kelemahan teknis (sifat fisis, mekanis dan kimia), sehingga belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Untuk memanfaatkan bambu secara optimal maka dilakukan proses pengolahan bambu berupa pengawetan, pengeringan, stabilisasi warna, bambu lapis, bambu lamina dan lain- lain, sehingga  nilai tambah dan kualitas bambu dapat ditingkatkan dalam usaha untuk pengembangan industri kecil menengah dan kerajinan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical and mechanical properties of coconut trunks based on 4 factors of acacia bark extract concentrations (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%) and the percentage of reduction in thickness (0%, 30%, 40%, 50%). The results showed that the average value of coconut wood moisture content is not compacted relatively higher compare to the average levels of condensed water. The average value of the coconut wood density was not relatively lower compared to the average density of the compacted. The average value of MOR and MOE coconut wood once compacted experience increased with coconut wood are not compressed. But all the values MOR coconut wood on this study is classified into strong wood class V. From the results of this study concluded that the process of compacting the coconut wood and soaking treatment using the extract of acacia bark may increase the value of physical and mechanical properties of coconut wood. Coconut wood compaction technology can be utilized as a substitute for wood raw materials but can not be used to hold the load.Keywords : coconut wood, physical properties, mechanical properties

Abstract

Penelitian mengenai pengaruh kadar perekat dan jenis bambu terhadap sifat fisis dan mekanis papan partikel telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat papan partikel dari bambu ditinjau dari aspek teknis/ proses pembuatannya, sifat fisis dan mekanis, pengaruh jenis perekat dan jenis bambu terhadap papan partikel yang dihasilkan. Jenis bambu yang digunakan adalah bambu apus (Gigantochloa apus Kurz), bambu kuning (Bambusa vulgaris Schrad), dan bambu manis (Gigantochloa atter Kurz). Adapun jenis perekat yang digunakan adalah Urea Formaldehid (UF) dan Polyvinil Acetat (PVAc) dengan kadar perekat masing-masing 8, 10 dan 12% dari berat kering partikel bambu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perekat Urea Formaldehid (UF) dengan kadar perekat 12% dari berat kering partikel menghasilkan papan partikel bambu yang paling baik untuk semua jenis bambu.

Abstract

The use of ant nests (Myrmecodia pendens) native of Borneo as an antibacterial. The aim of this research is to make the crude drug  from the ant nest, simply extracting, condensing and test the ability of anti-bacterial properties of ant nests. This study covers the development of these extracts, proximate analysis, and test the antibacterial activity of plant-ant nest. Parameters measured were the growth of antibacterial activity against Salmonella sp., E. coli and Bacillus sp. showed by inhibition (clear zone). The results showed that plant-ant nests have antibacterial power. Ethanol extract of the ant nests provide a better inhibition compared with water extraction ant nests. Antibacterial activity of the ant nest extracts can be applied both in gram- positive and gram-negative bacteria. Key wood : ant nest, antibacterial,  inhibition capability

Abstract

Rattan in good quality is curently difficult to obtain and it price is quite expensive.  So, it is needed to utilize non commercial rattan as substitute  material.  By identification of basic characteristics , such as phisical, mechanical, chemical and anatomy structure, every species of non commercial rattan can be used appropriately.   The objectives of this research is to optimize utilization  non commercial rattan as subtitute material and develop rattan manufacturing industry especially by identivication of the physical and mechanical characteristics.  Five (5) rattan species studied here are marau (Calamus mettanensis Becc), toho (Calamus spp), galang (Daemonorops verticilaris Griff Mart), hijau (Calamus spp. and simpurut (Calamus panajuga Becc) whic derived  from central Kalimantan.  The research result based on physical characteristic rang for diameter is between  6,2 – 27,2 mm, inter-segment length 10 – 28 cm, moisture content 12,50 – 16,48 % and density 1,03 – 1,61 gr/cm3.  While mechanical characteristics range for modulus of elasticity is between 364,03 – 1934,29 kg/cm2, compression strenth 127,55 – 441,04 kg/cm2 and  tensile strength 197,34 – 394,20 kg/cm2.  Those rattan species can be optimized as craft industry raw material especialy for furniture and rattan  matting.Keywords: rattans, physical, mechanical, craft.

Abstract

The aim to of this research is to know characters physical and mechanical characteristics of coconut wood based on 3 growth places (highland, coast and swamps) and the position of the coconut wood (tip, middle, and base). Besides that, to support the growth and the spreading of wood processing industry in South Borneo. They are two treatment factors that are used, the variation of growth places (highland, coast and swamps) and the variation of wood position (tip, middle, and base). Every combination of the treatments are repeated three times. The best Physical and mechanical characteristics of coconut wood is from highland and in the base part of the wood.
