Jurnal Riset Industri Hasil Hutan (JRIHH) adalah jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Balai Riset dan Standardisasi Industri Banjarbaru. Abstract

The compound of 3-methyl-4-octanol had been synthesized by the formation of Grignard reagent sec-buthyl magnesium bromide. The choosing of reactant 2-bromo butane and n-pentanal were resulted from retrosynthesize analysize of 3-methyl-4octanol pheromone. The reaction of sec-buthyl magnesium bromide was done at temperature 400C for 30 minutes, while the reaction between this reagent with n-pentanal was done for two hours. The formed compound was hydrolized using saturated NH4Cl solution and then cooled. The compound was identified using Infra Red spectrophotometre (IR), Gas Chromatography (GC), and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS). Abstract

Indonesia which is a net-exporter in of fuel oil has turn become a net importer of oil since 2009. It is ironic because it occurs at the worlds oil price is unstable and tends to increase. It is time for Indonesia to develop alternative energy sources and bio-diesel oil from the seeds of  nyamplung (Calophylum inophylum L.). The purpose of this researh was to determine the magnitude of the yield of oil from the seeds of the produced by the level of maturity. The raw and the riped yamplung seeds was used in this research. The results showed that the yield of oil in ripe seed is 24.01% and the raw one is 19.17% . Acid number and iodine number of oil based on the average maturity are 37.51 g / ml and 3094.14 g / ml for the ripe fruit, and 37.18 g / ml and 3421.32 g / ml for the raw fruit.Keywords: nyamplung, maturity, yield, oil, fuel.

Abstract

Durian wood (Durio zibethinus) from unproductive trees is a potential source of wood as raw material for furniture industry, but it has the weakness of vurnability to the wood insects such as dry wood termites. The objective of research is to find out the effectiveness of sawdust extract of teak wood (Tectona grandis) in preventing the decaying of durian wood. Thus the effort can improve the properties of durian wood. The preservative used in the research is extract of teak sawdust, i.e 250 gr/5 l water, 500 gr/5 l water and 750 gr/5 l. The preservation is used by cold soaking to the solution resulted from extraction for 7 days. The result of research shows that the application of teak sawdust for 500 gr/5 l water is sufficiently effective, because it causes the mortality of dry wood termites for 100,00 % and the retention of 17, 01 mg/cm3.Keywords: teak sawdust, durian wood, natural preservatives, mortality, retention.

Abstract

Non-timber forest products (NTFPs) such as the root of Akar Wangi (Vetiveria zizainoides), Durian’s bark (Durio zibethinus Murr), Jaringau (Acorus Calamus L.), Liligundi (Vitex trifolia), Gemor bark (Alseodaphne spp.),  and Neem seeds (Azadirachta indica A. Juss.) have good potential as a natural insecticide. They can be used  for anti-mosquito materials that can be prevent the development of vector-borne Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Disruptive effects of the plants to the insects come from the odor which produces from the plant. Judging from the compounds that contained in non-timber forest products (NTFPs), beside used as anti-mosquito repellent, it can also used  as other pests repellant such as bugs,   termites, ants, etc. The end product also can be diversed  as insect repellent burns, topical / lotion, spray, and others.Keywords :  akar wangi,  durian bark, jariangau, liligundi, gemor bark, mimba, natural insecticide

Abstract

Synthesized and characterization of biocomposites from recycle polypropylene  with alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica) as reinforcement have been done. Biocomposites was made by mixing biomass with recycle polypropylene in various amount of alang-alang  (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%). The materials were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy (Fourier Transform Infrared) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). The physical and mechanical properties of the biocomposite materials were tested in material density, water content, porosity, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR). The results was showed that the biocomposites with  alang-alang as reonforcement have better properties than their constituent materials. Biocomposites with 10% of alang-alang  showed the best physical and mechanical properties with value of MOE and MOR are  8818,34 kg/cm2 and 126,98 kg/cm2.Keywords : biocomposites, alang-alang, polypropylene

Abstract

Ant plant (Myrmecodia sp) is one of the many forest products that has a lot of benefits. Active compounds in this plant has been proven to to have benefit for the body. The aim of this research was to obtain the formulation ant plant products that have some benefits. The research methodologies consist of ant plant processing, phytochemical testing, formulation making, candy making, product testing according to SNI and organoleptic testing. Based on the phytochemical testing, ant plant (Myrmecodia sp) contained active compounds such as saponin, alkaloid, tannin, phenolic, flavonoid, triterfenoid and glycoside. Based on organoleptic test, the most preferred for ant plant candy formulation were consist of sugar, glucose, honey and mint, and 25% of ant plant extract. Based on SNI 357.1:2008 about hard candy, the formulations of ant plant candy meet the requirements specified.Keywords: ant plant, extraction, active compounds, formulation, candy

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan karena potensi bambu yang banyak dan belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan teknologi pembuatan pellet bambu dan meningkatkan nilai tambah bambu sebagai sumber energi alternatif. serbuk bambu dikeringkan  hingga kadar air  sekitar 14% diayak dengan ukuran lubang ayakan 15 Mesh.  Serbuk bambu  ditimbang sesuai keperluan dan diaduk hingga merata dengan perekat kanji. Dimasukkan ke dalam alat cetak, dipress dengan suhu 100 0c, 150 0c dan 200 0c dengan tekanan  2 ton dan 3 ton. Hasil uji kadar air Pellet bambu kuning 5,19% - 4,78%; pellet  bambu buluh 10,08% - 9,30%; pellet campuran5,40% - 4,08%; BJ pellet bambu kuning 0,79 -0,86; pellet bambu buluh 0,49 – 0,58; campuran 0,42 – 0,52; kadar abu pellet bambu kuning 1,62% - 1,84%; pellet bambu buluh 2,56% - 2,67% dan pellet campuran 2,08% - 2,27%;  Nilai kalor pellet bambu kuning sebesar 4.231– 4.584 kal/g; pellet bambu buluh 3.095 – 4.521kal/g dan  pellet campuran 4.140 – 4.733 kal/g.

Abstract

The wood stock nowdays is limited, so it is needed the effect to develop the making of boat wood using lesser known wood. In addressing the limited number of wood supply include wood from forest plantations as well as the people that potential is quite large for a variety of purposes. This research aims to make the process less wood preservation is known as the substitution of raw materials manufacture of traditional boats which of wood is jengkol (Pithecellobium jiringa Benth IC Nielsen), kupang (Ormosia sumatrana Prain), tarap (Artocarpus adoratissimus) and Acid (Mangifera applanata Kosterm). The utilization supported by the preservation process, using permethrin, parachem and impralit CKB. Concentration are used 5%, 10% and 15% by length of immersion respectively 10 days and 15 days. The results of the study showed that retention was likely to increase up to a concentration of 10%. The best retention was in kupang wood using 10% concentration parachem by 10 days immersion. Based on the research results of the four types of wood preserved with preservative resistant to all three compounds in marine wood borers.Keywords:  wood of jengkol, kupang, tarap and acid, preservation, traditional boat

Abstract

This research aimed to get the physical and mechanical properties of non adhesive-particle board from oil palm empty fruit bunches. The oil palm empty fruit bunches were degradated to fibre and boiled in boiling water during 60 minute then dried in ± 2 weeks. The dried raw material was chopped to be fibre in 5 mesh, 10 mesh, and 16 mesh. It were complied into a mold and then hot pressed in 35 kgf/cm2 pressure during 10 minute with 3 of temperature variety, 160°C, 180°C and 200°C. The result showed that the average of particle board water content was 7,11 -  9,85 % and the density was 0,63 – 0,76 gr/cm3. The highest thickness swelling was 22,59 % in 10 mesh and 160 0C (a2b1) temperature of oil palm empty fruit bunches. The modulus of rupture was 211,67 kg/cm2  in 10 mesh and 180 0C (a2b2) temperature. The modulus of elasticity was 490,85 kg/cm2 in 10 mesh and 160 0C (a2b1) temperature. The tensile strength was 7,49 kg/cm2 in 5 mesh and 200 0C (a1b3) temperature. The average of physical and mechanical properties such as water content, density, modulus of rupture, tensile strength were fulfill the SNI requirement, while the average of thickness swelling and modulus of elasticity were not fulfill the SNI requirement.Keywords: oil palm empty fruit bunches, particle board

Abstract

Industri penggergajian kayu menghasilkan limbah sebesar 40,48 %  volume, terdiri atas sebetan (22,32 %), potongan kayu (9,39 %) dan serbuk gergaji (8,77 %). Sedangkan limbah industri kayu lapis sebesar 54,81 % volume dengan rincian potongan dolok (3,69 %), sisa kupasan dolok (18,25 %), venir basah (8,50 %), penyusutan (3,69 %), venir kering (9,60 %), pengurangan tebal (venir kering) (1,90 %), potongan tepi kayu lapis (3,90 %), serbuk gergaji (2,2 %) dan debu kayu lapis (3,07 %). Pemanfaatan pada kedua jenis limbah tersebut antara lain sebagai bahan bakar, inti papan blok, papan blok, papan partikel, dan sambungan venir inti, atau venir belakang kayu lapis.
