Abstract

This study extends preliminary findings on semantic aspects in translating thermodynamic terminology from English to Indonesian in Frank White's Fluid Mechanics textbook. Specialized terminology translation poses unique challenges related to meaning equivalence across languages. This expanded analysis employs qualitative content analysis to examine semantic categories in greater depth. Data were collected from the glossary of thermodynamic terms in the original English edition (1998) and its Indonesian translation (2001). The analysis classified semantic meanings into lexical, grammatical, contextual, socio-cultural, and textual categories. The results show that lexical, grammatical, and textual meanings predominantly appear in the translation process, reflecting the challenges and strategies in conveying specialized scientific terminology.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of school and family environments on student learning achievement in the subject of Engineering Drawing for class X TKRO at SMKN 7 Serang in the 2024/2025 academic year. The school environment includes physical, social, and academic aspects, while the family environment includes emotional support, supervision, and parental involvement. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving all 31 class X TKRO students. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, as well as documentation of report card grades. Data analysis used the T test, F test, and multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that neither the school environment nor the family environment had a significant effect, either partially or simultaneously, on student learning achievement. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.086 indicates that the influence of the two variables is very low. This finding indicates that other factors such as learning motivation and learning strategies play a greater role in determining student achievement.

Abstract

Recovery and Vacuum Machine (MRV) is a refrigerant recovery tool in practical courses, so that refrigerant is not wasted during practicum. MRV is important to develop in order to improve practicum services. This study aims to develop MRV so that it can carry out the refrigerant recycle-recovery and recharging processes practically. MRV development is carried out experimentally through a research and development approach. The MRV trial results were carried out on a refrigerator type cooling machine. Testing to determine the performance of the MRV when working on vacuum, recovery-recycle, and refrigerant recharge modes automatically and to determine the performance of the refrigerator after recovery-recycle. The results of the development in the form of a new MRV construction with dimensions of 55 cm x 49 cm x 55.5 cm have been realized. MRV testing shows that the MRV results can work on vacuum, recovery-recycle and refrigerant recharging modes well at a Vacuum time setting of 10 minutes, recovery-recycle 5 minutes, and recharging 5 minutes. In addition, the refrigerator performance observed through the parameters of evaporator cabin temperature, electrical power, and compressor pressure showed good results.
