Abstract

Native chicken eggs  are one of the eggs that are often consumed by the community. Grafting native chicken eggs  has a lot of mineral content that is good for dental health, namely calcium.  In toothpaste calcium has properties as an abrasive which can reduce plaque formation on teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the abrasive effect of toothpaste preparations from native chicken egg shells and to determine the stability of toothpaste preparations with active ingredients from native chicken egg shells. The research method carried out is laboratory experimental on the formulation of toothpaste preparations from native chicken egg shells. Toothpaste preparations are made with a variant of the concentration of native chicken egg shell waste powder of 30%, 35%, 40% then an evaluation of the quality of the preparation before and after storage is carried out to determine the stability of a preparation.  Based on the results of this study obtained, toothpaste preparations with a concentration of egg shell powder of 35% are effective in reducing plaque on artificial teeth. Based on the evaluation requirements of SNI No. 12-3524-1995 including organoleptic tests, pH, dispersality, foam formation and homogeneity obtained all formulas are qualified.

Abstract

Caries that affects children under 72 months of age is called Early Childhood Caries (ECC). The high caries prevalence rate which reaches 81.5% in children aged 3-4 years is still a problem for Indonesia. One of the reasons for the high incidence of caries in preschoolers is the inappropriate pattern of breastfeeding or formula feeding. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between patterns of formula feeding and ECC in preschool children in Ketileng Village, Todanan, Blora. This study used an analytic observational research design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 69 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained from the results of dental examinations using the PUFA index and a questionnaire filled out by parents/guardians of students. Data analysis used the chi square statistical test. The results of the study showed duration, duration, frequency of consumption of formula milk, use of bottles/pacifiers, addition of sweeteners to consumption of formula milk and history of breastfeeding up to 2 years of age, each of which showed a value of p 0.05, which means there is a relationship with ECC. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the pattern of formula feeding and the presence of ECC in preschool children in Ketileng Village, Todanan, Blora.

Abstract

The high prevalence of heart disease makes dentists often meet patients with this condition. Cardiac disorders commonly encountered in dental practice include hypertension, ischemic heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, infective endocarditis, and arrhythmias. These patients required special consideration and adequate understanding of the cardiovascular conditions necessary to provide safe and effective dental care. Based on the heart condition, proper modification in dental care is very important. This article will discuss common heart conditions, how these diseases can affect dental care and prophylactic management and treatments that can be done to provide safe and optimal dental care.

Abstract

Knowledge about health obtained in school is one of the guarantees of a healthy society. Maintaining dental hygiene through tooth brushing is among the ways improving health. Health does not only relate to the normal condition; it is a process of increasing the degree of complete health. Children and adolescents are a particular target group for health education, this is because children have much lower immunity than adults. It takes suitable media to support children's knowledge through learning. The objective of this study is to analyze the significancy of using video as media to improve knowledge of brushing teeth in children aged 8-9 years. Methods: This study used an analytic method of one group pretest-posttest design. The technique of sampling was Accidental Sampling with inclusion criteria. The amount of sample is 35 aged 8-9 years, with the total of 80 respondents. The results of the paired sample t test showed a significant difference observed from the p-value 0.00, hence Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The research concludes that video media affects the improved knowledge of brushing teeth.

Abstract

Abstract

Streptococcus mutans is a bacteria that causes dental caries, so it is necessary to intervene with preventive products such as mouthwash that has the antibacterial ability. The development of mouthwash can be done by adding active substances derived from local plant materials to increase the ability of the product, one of which is manalagi apple peel. Apples contain several substances that are known to have good benefits for dental and oral health. This situation has become the basis for researchers to develop health products, namely mouthwash or mouthwash. The purpose of this study was to determine the anti-bacterial effect of the apple peel extract mouthwash formulation against Streptococcus mutans. This type of research is experimental research. The study design was Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The mouthwash tested in this study consisted of mouthwash A (negative control: mouthwash without extract), mouthwash B (12.5% extract), mouthwash C (25% extract), and mouthwash D (50% extract). ) and mouthwash E (positive control: one of the mouthwash products from the market). The results showed that the average inhibition was M(A) 8 mm, M(B) 8 mm, M(C) 14.67 mm, M(D) 13.27, and M(D) 8 mm. The results of the analysis of the difference in antibacterial ability between mouthwashes showed a value of -value = 0.008 0.05. The study concluded that there was a significant difference in the antibacterial ability of S. mutans between mouthwash A, B, C, D, and E.
