KARSA is a peer-reviewed national journal published by Institut Agama Islam Negeri Madura. It has been nationally accredited SINTA 2 since 2017 by Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia. It is published twice a year (June and December). It publishes articles of research results, applied theory studies, social issues, cultural studies, and Islamic culture issues. The aim of KARSA is to disseminate cutting-edge research that explores the interrelationship between social studies and (including) culture. The journal has scope and seeks to provide a forum for researchers interested in the interaction between social and cultural aspects across several disciplines. The journal publishes quality, original and state-of-the-art articles that may be theoretical or empirical in orientation and that advance our understanding of the intricate relationship between social science and culture. KARSA accepts manuscript with a different kind of languages are Indonesian, English, Arabic, or French.

Abstract

Abstrak:Dalam sejarah manusia, perempuan sering mendapatkan tempat kedudukan di bawah laki-laki. Dalam pandangan berbagai agama, perempuan mendapatkan diskriminasi, menganalisasi yang dibentuk oleh ketidakadilan struktural sebagai akibat dari pandang bias gender di masyarakat. Dalam komunikasi mungkin sering ditunjukkan adanya ketidakadilan di atas, akibat penfsiran yang bias gender yang dilakukan atas sebagian tokoh agama. Akibatnya perempuan tidak dapat mengaktualisasikan sejarah dan perannya di ranah publik termasuk di dalamnya di wilayah politik praktis.  Untuk Masyarakat Sumenep yang relegius, di mana fatwâ agama (fatwâ kiai) menjadi referensi dan pijakan utama setiap kali menyelesaikan persoalan sosial kemasyarakatan, maka akan sangat tepat bila pembebasan perempuan dari diskriminasi dimulai dengan membangun tafsîr yang ramah perempuanKata kunci:Perempuan, Madura, dan politikAbstract:In the history of mankind, woman is always placed under man. Even form the view of any religions, woman is descriminated and marginalized as a result of structural unjustice and gender bias. The unfair treatment has been justified from the gender bias interpretation commited by certain religious scholars. Thus, women are able to actualize their history and roles in public domain including practical practice domain. In Sumenep context, constructing a kind interpretation on woman role must be a brilliant choice since Sumenep people are religious and they hold on the religion fatwa (a binding ruling) tightly.Key words:Perempuan, Madura, dan politic

Abstract

To organize pilgrimage (hajj) has been a national task involving multi-institutions both in Indonesia and in Saudi Arabia. The Indonesion government is obliged to accelerate the quality of pilgrimage organization in forms of the service of registration administration, manasik advisory, pilgrimage trip, travel documents, air and land transportations, medic, accommodation, food, and security. Abstract

Patriarchy is a system that put adult men in central and important position, while others such as women and children are positioned in relation to the interest of the patriarch (adult man). Within patriarchal system, women are positioned as wives whose job is to accompany, complement, entertain and serve the patriarch, while children are positioned as the next generation and entertainer of their father. This system affects the interpretation of religion, in this case Islam. Understanding religion by using patriarchal lenses can produce patriarchal culture which position women as always subordinate to men and that men as always superior to women, such as that men are leaders of women who manage and decide women’s affairs regardless of whether or not the men are capable or fulfilling the requirements of being leader. This religious understanding by using patriarchal lenses causes gender injustice between men and women, which contradicts Islam, as a religion which supports equality and justice and argues against patriarchy. Abstract

Abstrak:Tulisan ini berusaha mendeskripsikan kegelisahan intelektual Fatimah Mernissi terhadap fenomena disparitas dan bias gender di dunia Islâm. Melalui pendekatan hermeneutika historis sosiologis terhadap al-Qur’ân dan –terutama—hadîts, Mernissi melahirkan kerangka teoritik Islam Politik  dan Islam Risalah. Dalam rangka mengentas bias gender yang menurutnya lebih merupakan konstruksi sosial komunitas muslim patriarkhi, Mernissi menyerukan “pembacaan baru” terhadap teks-teks agama melalui hermeneutika sehingga mampu menghadirkan Islam Risalah  dan mendekonstruksi yang terlanjur mengalami sakralisasi, pada hal sesungguhnya ia –Islâm Politik—tak lebih hanya sebagai “tafsir” belaka.Kata kunci:Hermeneutika, hadîts, dan misoginiAbstract:The present article attempts to describe an intellectual discomfort of  Fatimah Mernissi against disparity phenomena and gender bias in Islamic realm. Through the approach of historical-sociological hermeneutics-specifically- applied on hadits, Mernissi constructs theoretical framework of Islamic politic and Islamic treatise. She suggests a new reading way on religion texts using hermeneutic in order to pull out gender bias caused by the construction of  patriarchal-Muslim community. She states that it could represent the Islamic treatise and deconstruct sacred parts which she thinks a prodcut of interpretation from the Islamic politic. Abstract

Abstrak:Dalam rumah tangga,  perempuan memberikan semua pelayanan untuk suami, anak-anak, dan anggota keluarga lainnya dan di luar rumah tangga, laki-laki mengendalikan dan membatasi peran publik perempuan. Fenomena ini oleh mode produksi patriarkat yang merugikan kaum perempuan. Peran perempuan dibatasi pada tugas-tugas domestik, yaitu sekitar “sumur, dapur dan kasur”. Peran ini dianggap sebagai hal ideal bagi seorang perempuan. Walau masih berakar kuat pada sebagian masyarakat, paradigma ini mulai ditolak seiring dengan gerakan emansipasi wanita. Sebagaimana yang terjadi pada masyarakat Branta Pesisir, keterlibatan istri nelayan mereka dalam wilyah publik sudah mentradisi secara turun tenurun. Tulisan ini mengekplorasi bagaimana mereka menabrak ortodoksi dan menakar realitas dengan meretas budaya produksi patriarkat. Kata kunci: peran, relasi, suami-istri, dan patriarkatAbstract:In the family, a woman contributes her whole potencies to her husband, children, and the other family members, on the other hand, a man takes controll and limits the public role of woman. Sylvia Walby name this phenomena as patriarchal-production mode that disservice the woman. The role of woman has been measured up by domestic jobs, it goes around bathroom, cooking room, and bed room. These roles are considered ideal for woman. This paradigm is deep-rooted in certain community, however, at the present time this has been resisted by woman emansipation movement. This article is based on the study at Baranta Pasisir women and  about to explore the role of fishermen’s wives in public domain. They demonstrate how they hit orthodox beliefs and mete the reality out by taking apart  the patriarchal-cultural products. Key words:dynamics, relation, husband-wife, patriarchat

Abstract

Discourse of women's leadership is never-ending to discuss. Some Islamic theo-logical considerations has always been a major reason to support equality bet-ween men and women. This article presents the textual and contextual analysis of the leadership of women in the public sphere. It is based on textual under-standing of the Sunnah of the Prophet and the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars poorly stated that the leadership of women in public affairs is prohi-bited, but is based on a contextual understanding is not the case with the proviso able to carry out the mandate. Islamic history records ‘Â`isyah, al-Syifâ, and Queen Balqis including a handful of women leaders who occupy public office. Abstract

The absence of government policy in supporting the creative industry practice is a factor inhibiting the development of performing arts in Banyuwangi. Diverse local performing arts which if managed properly can become a crutch for the emergence of creative economy. This study aims at describing the struggles of women in the tradition arts and in conceptualizing  a creative industry model ba-sed on performing arts. The study employed ethnography. The field data were obtained through interviews with the informants. The interpretation of data used a combination of tradition arts, gender, cultural studies, and creative industry perspectives. The results showed that women of tradition arts in general do not rely their livelihoods on art activitiy. They keep trying to develop creative know-ledge embodied in art creation and innovations. Arts institutions have a develop-ment program to maintain quality. The role of the government is manifested in the forms of policies, facilities, activity forums and infrastructural development. The development of Banyuwangi-style performing arts within the framework of the creative industry can support the realization of the creative economy.Copyright (c) 2015 by KARSA. Abstrak:Artikel ini mengulas tentang pemberdayaan perempuan dalam spritulitas Islam, Perempuan sudah semestinya berani  memulai memberdayakan dirinya sendiri dengan melakukan upaya-upaya revolusioner seperti: memiliki manajemen waktu, menambah wawasan informasi, pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang berkaitan dengan hak dan kewajibannya sebagai perempuan dan meningkatkan pemahaman tentang kesehatan diri, baik fisik maupun mental. Di mana faktor penunjang utama pemberdayaan adalah pendidikan yang menjadi kebutuhan  perempuan dimulai dari diri masing-masing. Women should have been courageous to begin to empower themselves in performing revolutionary efforts: possesing time management, skill and knowledge concerning their obligation and right as women, and accelerating their comprehension on physical and mental self-soundnesses. However, the main factor that can support the women empowerment is education. It becomes the women need and must be fulfilled by themseves. Abstract

Abstrak:Perempuan merupakan salah satu komponen yang sangat penting dalam bidang pembangunan masyarakat pesisir. Kehidupan nelayan yang kerapkali lekat dengan belenggu kemiskinan dan ketidakpastian penghasilan mendorong para perempuan nelayan untuk lebih giat memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam perekonomian rumah tangga mereka, khususnya pada aktivitas pasca penangkapan. Minimnya ketrampilan yang dimiliki, upah bekerja yang rendah hingga ketiadaan jaminan sosial kerja merupakan sebagian dari kendala-kendala yang selalu dihadapi oleh perempuan nelayan. Transfer pengetahuan berkenaan dengan pengelolaan hasil laut pasca penangkapan didukung dengan strategi pemasaran dan manajemen pengelolaan keuangan merupakan salah satu di antara program-program pengembangan masyarakat pesisir yang berorientasi pada perempuan, yang bisa dilakukan oleh pemerintah, sehingga apa yang telah dilakukan oleh para perempuan nelayan selama ini tidak lagi dipandang sebelah mata dan harapan untuk dapat hidup sejahtera serta bebas dari belenggu kemiskinan dapat pula terwujud.Kata Kunci:perempuan, rumah tangga nelayan, dan pemberdayaan kualitasAbstract:Women become one of  important components in the development of coatsal area  community. The lif of fisherman has been often identical with the poor life and the indeterminancy income. It encourages women in the coastal area to be more active in in supporting the family income by giving the real contribution mainly after fishing time. For these women,  life is not really easy. They face some troubles, inspite of they are poorly skilled they also underpaid and they don’t have work and social sureties. This article suggets some programs that is women oriented; they include knowledge transformation on sea product management, marketing strategy, and finance management. After all, we cannot in a capacity to  neglect what these women do to keep the family, to realize a  wealthy life, and to break free from  poverty. Key words:women, fisherman family, and quality empowerment.

Abstract

The differences of understanding and point of view on gender and gender equity have become the basis of this study. It exploits the distinction any further particularly in academic community. The focus of study is specifically on the orientation of research theme and the direction of gender study analysis which are written by in undergraduate thesis. The study is successful in identification that gender study themes have been dominated by the contextual study or ap-licative-empiric instead of the study of textual or normative-legalistic. Gender study is viewed as the study about women not about gender or the study utili-zing gender as tool of analysis. The analysis of women study mostly use des-criptive one, it only describes position and role of women, whereas the gender study uses critical analysis, that ilustrate the arguments behind the role and position of women.
