Abstract

Perang Badar adalah perang yang sangat bersejarah, dalam perang tesebut baginda Rasul saw merasa kagum saat menyaksikan secara langsung bagaimana kepatuhan, kesabaran, kebersatuan dan ketangkasan para sahabatsahabatnya berlaga di medan Badar. Rasa kagum beliau bertambah tatkala mendengar bait-bait syair terucap dari mulut ‘Ubaidah bin Harits kakak sepupu Nabi saw sendiri yang terkapar bersimbah darah dengan betis tertebas saat berhadapan dengan Syaibah bin Rai’ah pada saat perang tanding. Dalam artikel ini penulis mencoba melakukan studi dan analisis ( ( الدراسة والتحليل terhadap bait-bait syair yang terucap secara spontanitas sebagai sebuah refleksi dari seorang ‘Ubaidah bin Harits yang telah mempersembahkan sesuatu yang termahal yang ada pada dirinya yaitu nyawa dengan harapan mendapat balasan dari Allah swt yang maha agung yaitu syurga tempat kebahagiaan abadi di akhirat nanti. Namun sebelum masuk ke studi dan analisis, penulis terlebih dahulu menjelaskan biografi sang penyair, konteks qashidah ( ⁄ جو مناسبة القصيدة النص ), arti kata ( معاني المفردات ), dan kemudian arti dan maksud bait-bait syair ( معاني الأبيات ). Pada bagian penutup penulis menyimpulkan dengan menjelaskan hikmah dan refleksi dari peristiwa besar tersebut.

Abstract

This article explores the use of Systemic Functional Grammar for students of english language teaching entitled Analysing Media Texts. This is aims at assisting students to produce their own texts and to help them develop an understanding of the linguistic choices they make. Students are introduced to the key principles of CDA and to Halliday’s SFG to provide them with tools to assist them to understand the social and constructed nature of discourses, especially those typically found in media texts. This article focuses on students’ interpretation of media texts, their ability to read with greater understanding and to apply key concepts that they had learnt to their analyses. The students demonstrated clearly that they had developed an understanding of CDA, acquired the basic metalanguage necessary for Hallidayan analysis and some of them could produce much more rigorous textual analyses than before.

Abstract

Who don’t know about Melly Goeslaw? There are many things that she does, such as to be a singer, to be songwriter for other people, to be a singer who feat/duet with other people, or to be songwriter for romantic drama that makes her to be famous with a nickname “the Queen of Soundtrack”. She has a lot of songs that is so phenomenal by beautiful words and smooth tone music which makes the listeners to be happiness and like the music so much. There are many songs that use figurative languages which contains the meaningful message from every song from 1990s until 2013. Then, it gives motivation and inspiration by her stylistically in romantic or beautiful words for all of audience who listen it.

Abstract

Martin Luther King Jr. is a favorable person in America. Some famous speeches produced by him reaching a better life. One of his speech is ‘I have dream’ which is became the best American speech of the twentieth century. This speech is full of the concept of motivation reaching the American dream. The motivation is literary viewed on how figurative language touching the context of American liberty and burning American emotion to go forward better. Beautiful words produced by Martin Luther King Jr. in this speech which is stylistically motivated American societies.

Abstract

The importance of listening in language learning can hardly be overestimated. In classrooms, students always do more listening than speaking. Listening competence is universally “larger” than other competence. Listening is not a oneway street. It is not merely the process of a unidirectional receiving of audible symbols one facet – the first step – 0f listening comprehension is the psychomotor process of receiving sound waves through the ear and transmitting nerve impulses to the brain. Every classroom lesson involves some form of assessment, whether it is in the form of informal, unplanned, and intuitive teacher processing and feedback, or in formal, prepared, scored tests.

Abstract

This article talk about one of the fiction genre movie is a colossal epic movie. “Troy” is one of the example of epic movie. It is tell about Trojan war which based on a poem The Iliad and Odyssey by Homer. It also tells more about the heroism of Achilles (Brad Pitt) and Hector (Eric Bana). Generally, the true heroes always being honest and sincere in serve the society. However, thisepic move also shown us, that love, ideology and power relation also clear enough appear on the model of communication. The substance of this observation is the representation of love, ideology, and power relation by showing the bineary oposition that reflected in the story. This observation uses the semiotic analysis method. Analysis method is used to express the meaning of of love, ideology, and power relation of Troy movie. It is uses constructive perspective on binnary oposition and also critical literary discourse analysis, with emptive text analysis to express of love, ideology, and power relation. As shown in the film there is an opposite character of the heroism as on of the example of the data, Achilles and Hector, i.e Paris. Paris is a faint hearted person. Appears on his lack, such as small, thin body, immature, selfish and timid.

Abstract

Aspects of the Novel is the publication of a series of lectures on the English Language novel delivered by E.M. Forster. These lectures presents the seven aspects, Forster believes, should include in the novel. Those seven aspects are story, people, plot, fantasy and prophecy, pattern and rhythm. This article is elaborating those seven aspects along with the explanation. It is expected that after reading Forster’s lectures, people will get a better insight towards the form of a good novel.

Abstract

Flouting maxims was a kind of violation on cooperative principles which consist of four maxims. In this case, cooperative principles were cooperation between speaker and hearer to make successful communication. In doing conversation, it was suggested to make the contribution as informative as is required and do not make the contribution more informative than required, do not say what believed to be false, make the contribution relevant and avoid obscurity and ambiguity. These all must be obeyed in doing conversation in order to make a successful communication according to Grice. If it is violated by speaker, it is called by flouting the maxims. The speaker in this case has the intention to arise his implicature. It often used in classroom interaction when teacher and students doing conversation especially in speaking class. It was almost done by students in answering the teacher’s question, where the students was not male students only, but also female students are on that part. Theoretically, female identified as a talkative person more than man. It means that female has ability to show her emotion by producing too much word in conversation which was able to arise implicature. This part can effect to the cooperative principles to make successful communication. Thus, it was true that gender hold the important rule in pragmatic study.

Abstract

Native speaker will do a negotiation of language they have in order to make the foreigner understand more about what they are saying.I is one of the input to the foreigner or learner in absorbing the language. This way is called the Foreigner Talk, in which the native speaker tries to use the simplified variety of language and some check and confirmation to convince the language they utter so the foreigner can understand the language they convey easily. Some studies done by De Lima, Freed, Long, and Ulichny have investigated Foreigner Talk in non educational contexts to find out what the parameters of FT simplification are and how the adjusted input facilitates NS-NNS communication.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bermaksud untuk memaparkan kondisi riil tentang problematika kontekstual lokal dalam periodisasi ejaan bahasa Madura dari masa ke masa pada masyarakat pemakai bahasa Madura di pulau Madura. Secara akademis, periodisasi ejaan bahasa Madura sangat tepat direvitalisasi keberadaannya, sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman dan penuturnya. Namun di sisi lain, beberapa praktisi masih bersikukuh menerapkan ejaan lama yang notabane dianggap sebagai ejaan yang sempurna. Sementara, Balai bahasa Provinsi Jawa Timur sudah memberi fasilitas dan wadah sebagai landasan yuridis yang efektif untuk dijadikan pedoman dalam penulisan ejaan, yakni pedoman ejaan bahasa Madura yang disusun oleh perwakilan praktisi Madura dan akademisi yang ahli dalam bidangnya, kendati kesepakatan dan kesepemahaman masih belum tercapai antar berbagai pihak.
