Abstract

The fungal-related diseases were responsible as one of many reasons for low production of maize in Ind`onesia. Controlling fungal contaminants using chemical is hazardous for human nowadays. Thus the need of environmental friendly vegetative-based fungicide such as from the extract of Ampupu tree bark is important. The objective of this study was to investigate the antifungal effect from Ampupu tree bark crude extract in response to growth of Fusarium sp, which responsible as the causal agent of corncob rot. The inhibition test on growth of Fusarium sp. by Ampupu tree bark crude extract was performed with diffusion well method on PDA as media. The process involved the infusion of crude extracts at 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5% concentration, respectively, into diffusion well on each petri disk. Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to identify any active compound contained. The result showed that by in vivo treatment, crude extract of Ampupu tree bark with concentration of 1.5%, 3,0% and 4.5%, were able to inhibit the fungal growth of Fusarium miniliforme as the causal agent of corncob rot with diameter of inhibition zone 0.18 mm, 1.85 mm and 2.01 mm, respectively. The higher the concentration of the crude extract given, the larger the diameter of inhibition zone formed. There were 11 active compound found within Ampupu tree bark methanol-based extract, which could potentially become antifungal, i.e. Ethylbenzene, o-Xylene, ALPHA.-PINENE,DELTA.3-Carene, Azulene(CAS)Cyclopentacycloheptene, Tetradecane(CAS)n-Tetradecane, 2,6-Diisopropylnaphthalene, 7,9-Di-tert-butyl-1-oxaspiro(4,5)deca-6,9-dien, Hexadecanamide, 9-Octadecenamide, (Z)-(CAS)OLEOAMIDE, 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylicacid,mono(2-ethylhexyl).

Abstract

Wheat (Triticum spp.) Is a cereal plant, has a fairly high nutrient content. The area of North Central Timor has prospects for wheat development. The existence of pathogens in wheat crops has not been observed and identified because there has never been any wheat cultivation in the area. The purpose of this study is to know other diseases that attack wheat crops when introduced to North Central Timor District, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The methods used were wheat cultivation, disease observation, and non-primary disease identification. Varieties of grain grown are varieties of Dewata, Selayar, and Nias. Observation of the incidence and severity of disease performed every 4 weeks. Identification of pathogens is done by morphological characterization with the help of identification keys. Laboratory research for disease identification was done in Plant Micropology Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection, Bogor Agricultural University. Other diseases that infect wheat crops are Fusarium shoots, leaf spot, Curvularia and Helminthosporium hulls, and twisted leaves. The percentage of incidence of all four diseases is very low.

Abstract

Peanut is one of the legume plants that play an important role for food needs, but it has a high economic value so much that makes peanuts in addition to food as well as industrial materials. This study aims to determine the effect of plant spacing and pig manure dosage on the growth and yield of peanut plants (Arachis hypogaea L.). This research was conducted in December 2016 - March 2017 in experimental farm of Agricultural Faculty of Timor University, using Randomized Block 3 Factor 3 × 3 repeated. The first factor is spacing with three stages: Planting spacing 40 cm × 20 cm, spacing 40cm × 30 cm, and spacing 40 cm × 40 cm; the second factor is the dosage of pig manure with three levels namely: 0 t / ha, 5 t / ha, 10 t / ha. The results showed no interaction between the treatment of pig manure dosage with the treatment of plant spacing on all parameters of observation except on the root length parameter. Provision of pig manure with a dose of 10 t / ha yielded the heaviest dry weight per hectare (1.72 t / ha.) And significantly different from the control. Planting spacing of 40 cm × 40 cm yields the number of plant pods (20.37 pods), dry seeds per heaviest plant (60.97 g), and 100 heaviest seeds (40.93 g.). Keywords: Planting Spacing, Pig Manure, Arachis hypogaea L.

Abstract

The decrease of maize yields on dryland farming areas could have resulted from the effects of strong competition between plants in a population due to an inappropriate number of plants, corn variety, and limited growth factors. The use of the right number of plants hole-1 and variety is expected to increase corn seed yield. The results showed that in the population 285,714 plants ha-1, the yield of seeds weighing 7.78 g cob-1 at 12% moisture content and 7.73 ton ha-1 at oven-dry weight, produced by local varieties of the hill. This result indicates that the two factor of treatment did not have an effect on maize yield. The population treatment of 285,714 plants ha-1 yielding seeds weighing 135.23 g plant-1 dry weight oven and 7.73 ton ha-1 on oven dry weight. The local varieties of Bukit produced seeds weighing 90.20 g plant-1 at 12% and 5.13 t ha-1 moisture content on oven dry weight, potentially developed in dryland especially in Mumbul Park area, South Kuta in a population of 285,714 plant ha-1 (4 plants per hole).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of spacing and dosage of manure on the growth and yield of chickpeas and to determine the dosage of manure and the appropriate spacing for growth and optimum bean yield. The design used was factorial randomized block design (RBD) 3 x 3 which was repeated three times. The first factor is the spacing consisting of three levels, namely 20 cm x 40 cm, 20 x 50 cm and 20 cm x 60 cm. the second factor is the dose of manure consisting of three levels, namely 5 t / ha, 10 t / ha and 15 t / ha. Parameters observed included soil temperature, soil moisture content, plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, number of pods per plot, weighted wet weight, dry dry weight, root wet weight, dry weight root, stem wet weight, stem dry weight. The results showed that the interaction between spacing and dosage of cow manure occurred in the parameters of root wet weight and number of pods per plot per harvest. The dosage of manure has a significant effect on moisture content parameters of 60 day after planting and chickpeas, while the spacing does not significantly affect all parameters. The treatment of spacing of 20 cm x 40 cm with a dose of fertilizer 10 t / ha has been sufficient to increase the yield of beans per plot (4.25 t / ha) higher than other treatments.
