The appropriate data found in the field is analyzed accordingly to the research questions by employing a qualitative approach. The work suggests that cultural identity has changed in these two urban villages as a result of the influence of external values promoting the redefinition and redesign of public and social space. Besides, it also finds that delegitimization of the identity of Kampung and communality dislocation has occurred due to tourism purposes. The new formulation of the Kampung does not only reflect the emergence of new ideology and tradition but also stimulate resistance, conflict, and negotiation. This study recommends the importance of mentoring programs from the strategic stakeholders for better space and cultural transformation leading to the prevention of the damage of local wisdom basis within urban communities.

Women in rural Madura prefer to live alone as a widow after being left by husbands (divorced/deceased). This phenomenon is better known as a single mother. The single mother women perform dual roles in the family, namely public roles and domestic roles. This research focuses on the causes of women who prefer to be single mothers as well as their strategies in maintaining resilience in the family. The case study approach and qualitative methods are used to understand the phenomenon. The data show that several factors influence women in Ponteh village to live longer as single mothers than men after getting divorced. Firstly, wanting to raise their children, secondly, for women, divorce is a traumatic event, third, understanding of Islamic thought, fourth, social prestige. The research method is qualitative descriptive with a case study design that focuses on narrating the objective conditions of agent and structure duality. Informants were chosen purposively, supported by observational data, interviews, and documentation. Data analyzed through the process of collection, reduction, exposition, verification, and conclusion. The results showed that: 1) Conceptually, the practice of marriage experienced practical distortions that were configured through consensus of sharia and local elites; 2) the practice of marriage is a phenomenon of the duality of agents and structuring each other; 3) agent habitus is dominated by Mandailing culture through power relations and surplus capital of the local elite compared to the sharia procedure of religious structure. Reformation-era opened the opportunities for political freedom and the development of religious life among the Islamic community in Indonesia. It can be seen in the strengthening of the identity and the movements of religious groups outside the mainstream religious groups, namely radicalism. Acceptance of different narratives based on religious sentiments is shown in the public space by building a distinction between "us" and "them". There is a need for an antidote toward radical understanding that resulted in acts of terror naming the deradicalization. By qualitative methods, this study indicated that during the nine years of the establishment of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) the programs are still static because the program has not been able to minimize or even eliminate radical understanding that led to acts of terror. All elements of civil society must strengthen the deradicalization program of BNPT. Both NGOs (Wahid Institute and SETARA Institute) stated that the process of deradicalization was not only on individual problems, but the social environment also played an active role. It is the state that has the ability in the process of deradicalization, but the state must involve civil society.

This article explains the transition process and youth strategy in Yogyakarta in the era of late modernity. Departing from the context of late modernity in Indonesia, this article applies the concept of mobility as a strategy and reflexive capacity of youth in transition. This article explores the biographical narratives of the four young final-year students in Yogyakarta. By using qualitative methods, this research applies observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The phenomenon of youth studying while preparing for the future, mainly work or/and capital accumulation towards work is a common occurrence of the youth transition in Yogyakarta. Young people respond to the uncertainties of the future and unpredictable consequences of risk through mobility and reflexive capacity as forms of capital. Â Thus, based on empirical data, those two components become essential and valuable wealth to be accumulated by young people.
