Abstract

Mathematics anxiety of high school students in learning mathematics in the network has a lot of influence on the ongoing learning until the results obtained. The influence of math anxiety has an effect ranging from understanding mathematical concepts to student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the level of anxiety experienced by students in undergoing online learning and determine the bias between respondents and statements on the questionnaire. This research was conducted through a combined approach of quantitative and qualitative using a survey method. The subjects of this research are students with a range of secondary education who are undergoing online learning and totaling 225 students with 155 female students and 70 male students. Data was collected through the distribution of an instrument in a questionnaire regarding students' mathematics anxiety. Furthermore, the data obtained is measured through the Rasch model and processed with the help of the Winsteps application. After the data was obtained, interviews were conducted to determine the causes that support students' mathematical anxiety in the online learning system. In this study, the results obtained that anxiety tends to be high in the implementation of learning in the network. There are three categories: high anxiety 17.33%, moderate anxiety 73.78 %, and low anxiety 8.89%. This study also found various triggers for the presence of mathematical anxiety that can be used to understand the condition of students. Through DIF (Differential Item Functioning), some differences/biases can be used as references for further research.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a mathematics test with the COVID-19 context to measure the student's skill competencies in grade VIII SMP/MTs. This study was a research development by following the test development procedures: compiling blueprints, writing items, reviewing questions, testing, analyzing the results of trials, and revising. The developed test consists of multiple-choice items with four options. These items were validated content by three experts (teacher, lecturer, and mathematics trainer) and were tested to 86 students. This study developed a mathematics test set with the COVID-19 context consisting of ten items that experts declared valid. Trial of ten items showed two items (numbers 7 and 6), which were not good. Item number 7 was too easy, while item number 6 was not good in the discrimination index. Besides, the two distractors in item number 7 did not work correctly. The estimated coefficient of reliability of the measurement results was quite high, indicated by a coefficient value of 0.658. The items that were not good have been revised by modifying the items so that the index of difficulty and discrimination look good. Useful and revised items were assembled into a mathematics test set for grade VIII students.

Abstract

Mathematics school exams as summative assessments are expected to have good quality, so the description of students' abilities is under the actual conditions. However, due to COVID-19, math school exams are carried out online, which results in bad quality of instruments, so analysis of math exam questions is needed for information about the quality of questions, and an overview of students' abilities is obtained. This study aimed to analyze the quality of the questions, which included analyzing the characteristics items seen from the level of difficulty, differences, distractions, and estimation of students' abilities with the item response theory approach. This study employs a quantitative research method with an exploratory, descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were 758 grade 9 students of State Junior High School who took mathematics school exams in Gunung Jati Sub-district, Cirebon Regency. Data from student's responses or answers from mathematics exam questions in the form of multiple-choice with 40 items for the 1st school, 35 for the 2nd school, and 20 for the 3rd school. The research data fulfills the IRT's assumptions first. Then, the researchers found that from the online assessment analysis with SPSS software, the R and Ms. Excel program, it showed that the level of difficulty there were still some items that needed to be revised or removed if not needed. The difference between the items in the three schools could be said to be good even though the distribution was not evenly distributed. The effectiveness of the distractor is more dominant in having a bad distractor with a percentage of 100% and 65.7% and the ability of students to answer math exam questions by obtaining the highest ability information from different students from the three schools.

Abstract

Learning independence among students is still low. It can be seen from the students being less active in finding learning resources and only waiting from the lecturers, from the task of making learning media given by students there are still many who only copy and edit it. To practice learning independence, innovation is needed in learning, one of which uses learning that combines face-to-face and virtual learning, namely blended learning. This study aims to train the independence of student learning in making learning media based on Macromedia flash through blended learning. The research method used is quantitative descriptive method. The sample in this study were 28 students of the mathematics education program at the PGRI University of Palembang. The research instrument was a student learning independence questionnaire given before and after learning. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that student learning independence changes before and after learning, with the largest percentage change in the indicators of self-efficacy (self-concept), while the smallest percentage of changes in the indicators evaluating the learning process and results. Besides, the efforts that can be made to train the independence of student learning with blended learning are providing a discussion forum; giving assignments to each material so that students know clearly the learning objectives; conducting discussions on each assignment given, and; do not limit students in access learning resources.
