Abstract

Manual treadmills are low-cost and widely accessible but lack electronic systems for measuring running speed, limiting their use in interactive or gamified applications. This study presents a simple embedded system that enables real-time speed tracking on a manual treadmill using a magnetic reed switch and an ESP32 microcontroller. Each roller rotation generates one pulse which is processed through an interrupt-based algorithm to compute linear speed. The data are transmitted to a custom Unity game application to control a running avatar in real time. Experimental results show an average speed error of 2.11% with an RMSE of 0.049 m/s and an end-to-end latency of 48 ± 4.9 ms. The findings indicate that the system is accurate, responsive, and suitable for low-cost exergaming and motion-based training.

Abstract

One way to diagnosing a disease is by examining an image. To display an image on a specific component, an inverse matrix-based algorithmic decomposition technique is used. If the Lambert-Beer Law equation is subjected to a natural logarithmic operation, a linear relationship between intensity level and thickness will be produced. Furthermore, an image can be displayed based on the thickness function. By varying three different wavelengths and three different materials, three types of linear equations are obtained. This variation in wavelength affects the level of decomposition. The results show that the combination of 780 nm-808 nm-980 nm wavelengths is better in quality than other wavelength variations. In this study, a phantom composed of silicone rubber, margarine, and gelatin was used. This phantom material is representative of the human body material.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing penetration of renewable energy, especially wind energy based on Dubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), poses challenges in maintaining power system stability. One mitigation approach is the use of a Parallel Resonance Fault Current Limiter (PRFCL), which can limit fault currents and dampen oscillations during major disturbances. This study uses MATLAB/Simulink to simulate a DFIG-integrated IEEE 9 Bus system and evaluate the impact of PRFCL on transient stability during three-phase-to-ground faults. The results show that PRFCL significantly reduces voltage and power deviations, accelerates frequency recovery, and improves the Fault Ride-Through (FRT) capability of DFIG systems.

Abstract

Interoperability between Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) is an important aspect of GPON-based Fiber to the Home (FTTH) deployments in multi-vendor environments. Although the ITU-T G.984 standard defines an interoperability framework, variations in OMCI implementation and device management mechanisms across vendors may still affect service performance. This study aims to evaluate the interoperability of a Vendor A ONT with four OLT platforms through OMCI registration testing, Layer-2 configuration, ACS activation, and verification of data, voice, and video services. The test results show that all evaluation stages were successfully completed with a 100% success rate across all OLT platforms, and that service performance remained stable without significant degradation. These findings confirm that the Vendor A ONT complies with the ITU-T G.984 standard and can be reliably deployed in multi-vendor GPON networks.

Abstract

Bagasse utilization for power generation in sugar mills remains dominated by inefficient conventional boilers. This study assesses economic feasibility of a hybrid bagasse gasification power system using HOMER Pro software. The model includes a biomass gasifier, diesel generator, and grid connection, using operational data from Krebet Sugar Factory. Four sensitivity scenarios examined variations in investment cost, operational cost, and biomass price. The hybrid system yields a Net Present Cost of 14.2 million USD and Levelized Cost of Electricity of 0.088 USD/kWh, substantially outperforming the existing system with NPC 21.1 million USD and LCOE 0.203 USD/kWh. Investment viability is supported by an Internal Rate of Return of 12% and payback period of 4.8 years. Sensitivity analysis verifies economic resilience despite 20% cost escalation and elevated biomass prices.

Abstract

Renewable energy resources (RES) integration significantly affects power system stability, corresponding with the system to maintain stable conditions when the system is subjected with small disturbance. In this research, the effects of Cirata integration on the Jawa Bali 500kV power system network's dynamic and small signal stability are analyzed. The critical eigenvalue trajectories showed that increasing power injection from PLTS improved the stability, it is indicated by the movement of critical eigenvalues to the left away from the imaginary axis, from σ = -1.253 to σ = -1.255. And is followed by an increase in the system damping ratio from 10,85% to 10,88%. These results indicate that the integration provides a positive contribution to damping oscillations and increasing system stability when faced with small disturbances.

Abstract

Maintaining body stability is a key challenge for hexapod robots in stair navigation. This study proposes an inverse kinematics (IK)-based approach for dynamic balance control using real-time joint angle computation. Experimental results show that the method maintains body orientation near a neutral position, achieving a minimum pitch angle of 7.3°, thereby improving stability and reducing mechanical collision risk. System performance is also influenced by actuator speed and battery voltage.
