Abstract

Kampung Seni Grajen utilizes this wood dust waste to create high-value paintings through a manual roasting process, which requires significant time and intensive supervision. This study aims to develop an electric stove based on fuzzy logic to improve the efficiency of the wood dust roasting process. The electric stove employs a Band Heater as a heating element, controlled by an AC-AC Controller and fuzzy logic to regulate the temperature automatically. The system is also equipped with an agitator to ensure even heat distribution. Testing was conducted using both open-loop and closed-loop methods. In the open-loop testing, the input voltage directly affected the temperature, but the temperature increase was not always linear. The closed-loop testing demonstrated that the system could maintain a stable temperature in the range of 84°C to 87°C, with an error rate of 2.38%, despite slight discrepancies due to environmental factors or sensor tolerances. The roasting results are used to make Grajen paintings

Abstract

This research develops a 64-element microstrip antenna array design using the Dolph-Chebyshev method for capturing Himawari-8 satellite data. Proximitycoupled feed is employed to enhance efficiency and minimize unwanted radiation. Dolph-Chebyshev amplitude distribution is implemented through Wilkinson unequal power dividers and λ/4 transformers for optimizing beamwidth and sidelobe levels. Simulation results show the antenna operates in the frequency range of 4.1036-4.459 GHz with a gain of 23.46 dB at 4.148 GHz. The directional radiation pattern has a 3 dB beamwidth of 6.5° in the E-Plane and 4.9° in the HPlane, with main lobe directions of 0° and 1° respectively. The total antenna dimensions of 752 mm × 627.94 mm × 3.255 mm without requiring a parabolic reflector make it more compact compared to previous designs.

Abstract

Most energy consumption comes from the high demand from buildings. A large portion from buildings comes from the HVAC systems. A proper optimal control strategy is needed for energy savings. This paper proposes a multi-model MPC strategy for controlling the chilled water pump HVAC to reduce energy consumption for an auditorium in MAC UI building. The building model is modeled in EnergyPlus software, while the control strategy is modeled using MATLAB where both software communicates using BCVTB. The developed control performance has been tested under different operating conditions and different set of temperature changes. The result shows that the proposed controller can reduce the total energy consumption of chilled water pump by 13.1% compared to the existing On/Off controller.

Abstract

The development of renewable energy utilizing electrical power conversion devices is growing rapidly. Electrical power conversion in an inverter works by converting DC into AC. Typically, the inverter works as a voltage reducer, but under certain conditions, it works as a voltage booster with a limited operating range. To overcome the problems, an inverter with a voltage-increasing and decreasing converter is implemented in the same circuit. This research has investigated the combination of an inverter with a Cuk Converter so that it becomes a Cuk H-Bridge Inverter with voltage boosting and reducing control. The Cuk H-Bridege Inverter implements eight power switches by combining the H-Bridge Inverter and Cuk Converter. LV25-P voltage sensor detects constant output voltage with integral proportional control using STM32F407VET6 microcontroller. The laboratory uses equipment according to the standard. A Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) generated in the test meets the IEEE 519 standard of 4.1%.

Abstract

This study develops a low-head smart picohydro system for rural electrification optimized using the Queen Honey Bee Migration (QHBM) algorithm. The system includes a propeller turbine, axial generator, charge controller, inverter, and battery. QHBM optimizes flow rate, head, system efficiency, output power, and energy cost to achieve the best technical and economic performance. For comparison, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used, known for its fast convergence but prone to local optima. Results show that at a 0.65 m head, QHBM produces 546.68 W, higher than PSO (546.48 W) and manual calculation (530 W), with 50% faster convergence. The proposed system supports sustainable and affordable energy access for off-grid communities and offers potential for renewable energy startup innovation.

Abstract

Limited angular resolution in Overlapped Equal Subarray Transmit (OEST) radar poses a critical challenge in detecting closely spaced targets, especially in complex multi-target environments. This paper evaluates super-resolution MUSIC and APES methods to enhance angular resolution in OEST radar systems with 6 subarrays. Performance analysis was conducted under single and multiple target scenarios: one target at 0.5°, two targets at [0°, 0.5°], and three targets at [–0.5°, 0°, 0.5°]. Both methods achieved accurate angle detection for single and dual-target cases. However, in triple-target scenarios, APES demonstrated superior DoA and RCS estimation precision (up to 0.999) despite higher sidelobes, whereas MUSIC showed reduced RCS accuracy but lower sidelobes. The hybrid APES-MUSIC approach produced sharp spectral peaks, near-unity amplitude response, and minimized sidelobe interference, significantly improving estimation accuracy and stability for this radar in dense multi-target settings.

Abstract

Utilizing solar heat from building rooftops is crucial for urban heat island mitigation and energy efficiency in tropical climates. This study designs a Solar Thermoelectric Generator (STEG) panel and analyzes its performance in converting zinc waste heat into electricity under varying temperature conditions. An integrated experimental and ANSYS simulation approach evaluated zinc's thermal conductivity and STEG panel performance. Actual temperature data from the zinc material were collected to identify optimal temperature gradients (ΔT). Results showed the zinc panel achieved a maximum ΔT of 5.82∘C. A series configuration yielded 0.0825 mW peak power, while parallel reached 0.0085 W. System efficiency was calculated at 0.0090%. Despite initial low efficiency, these findings validate STEG panel design and zinc material feasibility for solar heat recovery.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to improve the performance of a microstrip leaky-wave antenna by adding a 1x3 array configuration and a V-slot structure for WLAN applications in the 5.925 − 6.425 GHz, using an FR-4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.6. Simulations were conducted to evaluate the parameters of S11, VSWR, bandwidth, and gain. The use of an array and V-slot aims to enhance both gain and bandwidth. Simulation results show the array and V-slot configuration achieved a bandwidth of 570 MHz (5.86 − 6.43 GHz) and gain of 7.02 dBi at 6 GHz. Compared to the microstrip leaky-wave antenna without a V-slot, the proposed configuration improved the bandwidth by 270 MHz (90%) and the gain by 0.82 dBi (13.3%). These results indicate that the addition of an array and V-slot structure effectively enhances antenna performance for wireless communication applications.
