Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat (JSAM) is an academic journal, publishing two issues per year (June and December). JSAM is published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Palangka Raya, Indonesia. This journal seeks to provide a venue for sharing new empirical research and theoretical analysis of intersections between religion and societies. JSAM publishes original works that contribute to scientific discussion of the relationship between Islam and societies. The journal’s primary focus is on contemporary issues of Islam and culture, politics, economics, law, communication, and history within Indonesian contexts such as local wisdom, multiculturalism and pluralism. However, works on the issues of world religions and global societies are welcome.

Abstract

Cultural relativism occurred in response to the flow of ethnocentrism, which holds that measure and assess the culture of others from their own cultural context, so it tends to look down on cultures outside the scope of culture.The basic concept of cultural relativism is not there a culture that has advantages compared with other cultures. Its means that there is no a community of people who are entitled to claim that their culture is superior to other cultures.Important cultural relativism learned by anyone who has a concern to the development of culture, both for development theory or to solve the problems that exist in the community, Indonesian society, especially the type of multicultural culture. Indonesia has a cultural diversity should be preserved and cultivated especially in the younger generation. to understand and be aware of the differences in terms of both religious cultures and races, Indonesian society should be able to live in diversity because it becomes a necessity.

Abstract

This study is to explore the gender construction to the Dayaknese women reproduction health myth in Palangkaraya. This study used descriptive qualitative type. To take sample of this study was done by random sampling.The population target of this study were choosen by using special selection that of the subject of this study were the inhabitant who lives in Palangka Raya without using gender discriminated.  The mythes which are related to dayaknese women reproduction health showed that there were some related to gender construction which was full gender imbalances. If they are related to the myth, so the distinction system between woman and man are constructed to some mythes.The above mythes declared that the real gender constructions were from the way of men to think, so it showed that the wowen had restrictiveness to make action in their daily life.  The above mythes declared that the pregnant woman should not sew the cloth, go fishing, sit with the legs crossed, should use rings in her anklet, should abstain to eat some food. It showed that the systems of men thoughts were to delimitate of women actions.

Abstract

Monokotomic education is the educational system construction of the plenary which is capable of integration educational value of domain-oriented humanitarian and religious by a nature.The education system also implies an attitude of valuing differences in values, norms, culture and tradition (Multiculturalism) as well as of the religious aspect of pluralism as a consequence of the Muslims. Therefore, there needs to be a paradigm in education it is necessary to elaborate on the elements of cultural pluriformity become construction between the wisdom or community – read the culture. It is intended as an attempt to construct a more civilized society structure, harmonious, and prosperous with cache while respecting cultural differences. Konstruks education is believed to be supporting the formation of communities of multiculturalism and pluralism in this modern era; where the whole community with all the elemental sued for bears fate and interdependence together for the creation of a lasting peace. Therefore, education (Islamic) multiculturalism with the paradigm of monokotomic need to be constructed which will later put forward positional egalitarian culture system at all, so its able to eliminate the superiority-inferiority between one culture and other cultures. Where he will give a positive effect against civic buildings marked with the behavior or attitude of mutual respect and respect the differences, open minded, and mutual understanding as well as giving understanding among community members. Abstrak: Pendidikan monokotomik merupakan konstruksi sistem pendidikan paripurna yang mampu mengintegralisasikan nilai pendidikan yang berorientasi pada domain kemanusiaan dan kealaman dengan keagamaan. Sistem pendidikan demikian berimplikasi pada suatu sikap menghargai perbedaan tata nilai, norma, budaya dan tradisi (multikulturalisme) termasuk juga dari aspek agama sebagai konsekuensi dari pandangan pluralisme umat Islam. Oleh sebab itu, paradigma yang perlu ada dalam pendidikan perlu untuk mengelaborasi elemen-elemen kemajemukan budaya menjadi konstruksi kearifan antar golongan atau komunitas –baca budaya. Hal ini dimaksudkan sebagai upaya untuk membangun struktur masyarakat yang lebih beradab, harmonis, dan sejahtera dengan tetap menghargai khazanah perbedaan budaya. Konstruks pendidikan ini yang diyakini akan menyokong terbentuknya masyarakat multikulturalisme dan pluralisme di era modern ini; di mana seluruh masyarakat dengan segala unsurnya dituntut untuk saling tergantung dan menanggung nasib secara bersama-sama demi terciptanya perdamaian abadi. Oleh sebab itu, pendidikan (Islam) multikulturalisme dengan paradigma monokotomik perlu untuk dikonstruksi yang nanti akan mengedepankan posisional egaliter pada semua sistem kebudayaan, sehingga mampu menghilangkan superioritas-inferioritas antara satu kebudayaan dengan kebudayaan lainnya. Di mana ia akan memberikan efek positif terhadap bangunan kemasyarakatan yang ditandai dengan perilaku atau sikap saling menghargai dan menghormati dalam perbedaan, open minded, dan saling memahami serta memberi pengertian antar anggota masyarakat.

Abstract

Kenakalan  remaja yang berbentuk kriminalitas  dapat  mengganggu ketertiban  umum, memerlukan pemecahan dan penanggulangan. Salah  satu cara yang tepat untuk menanggulangi kenakalan remaja tersebut adalah kembali  pada ajaran  agama  Islam yaitu menggali  kitab-kitab yang berkaitan dengan moral seperti adanya  pengajaran  kitab Akhlakul  Lilbanin kepada para remaja, karena kitab ini baik untuk mengingatkan para pelajar agar mawas diri, tidak takabur, dan selalu menghormati atau berbuat baik  kepada orang tua dan bapak ibu guru yang telah mendidik dan  mengajarkan  berbagai  ilmu  pengetahuan baik agama maupun umum.Permasalahan penelitian ini: (1).Bagaimana pemahaman santri terhadap  isi kitab Akhlakul  Lilbanin di  pondok pesantren Hidayatul Insan Fi Ta’limiddin Palangka Raya?(2).Bagaimana perilaku santri setelah memahami isi kitab Akhlakul Lilbanin di pondok pesantren Hidayatul Insan Fi Ta’limiddin  Palangka  Raya? dan (3).Apakah ada korelasi antara pemahaman  isi  kitab  Akhlakul  Lilbanin dengan perilaku santri di pondok pesantren Hidayatul Insan Fi Ta’limiddin Palangka Raya?.Pendekatan penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian  korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa yang mondok di asrama Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Insan Fi’i Ta’limiddin Palangka Raya dan yang  mengikuti  pembelajaran  kitab  Akhlakul Lilbanin berjumlah 11 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data; Teknik Tes, Teknik Wawancara, Observasi dan Teknik Dokumentasi, dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan rumus statistik korelasi product  moment.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) Pemahaman santri terhadap isi kitab Akhlakul Lilbanin di Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Insan Fi Ta’limiddin Palangka Raya termasuk kategori tinggi. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan perolehan rata – rata skor pemahaman santri sebesar 2,91 berada pada interval 2,336 – 3,00. (2) Perilaku santri di Pondok Pesantren  Hidayatul Insan Fi Ta’limiddin Palangka Raya setelah memahami isi kitab Akhlakul Lilbanin termasuk kategori tinggi. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan peroleh skor rata – rata 2,71 berada pada interval skor 2,336 – 3,00. (3) Ada  korelasi antara pemahaman santri terhadap isi kitab akhlakul  lilbanin  dengan  perilaku santri di Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Insan Fi Ta’limiddin Palangka Raya. Hal ini berdasarkan hasil perhitungan korelasi product moment yang diperoleh rxy sebesar  0,868 hasil tersebut di konsultasikan dengan rtabel  pada df 11- 2 = df 9 pada taraf signifikan 5% sebesar 0,602 maupun  pada taraf signifikan 1% sebesar 0,735.

Abstract

In public life a very plural, distinction because both tribes, language, culture, customs, all the more sothe difference understand and religion, is very prone to the incidence of conflict and contradiction. In the field of religious life, the attitude of intolerance and mutually hostile, could well arise due to frictions due to differences of religious doctrine, the doctrine of deployment or implementation of services by their respective religions. For its numerous attempts have been made by the Government in order to achieve harmony between religious life, whether through education, out reach, and mentoring and various other ways, because harmony is an absolute requirement for the Government to carry out the construction. Of course the efforts and programs that have been launched by the Government will not work optimally if not supported by all components of the society and all the people of religion. Therefore the development of an attitude of tolerance, pluralism, mutual respect and appreciate between believers and between groups who have the difference understand is very important to do. How exactly the strategy or efforts should be done to make it happen?

Abstract

Family is one of natural education center. Parents are naturally encouraged to educate and guide their children to be mature who have a decent life, to be happy in this world and hereafter. Because the religious education that was given by parents to children has a major influence in forming the character of the growth and development of the children.Children who get more religious exercise in their childhood will get a stronger religious basic in them selves when they are being adult, so they can apply it in their life. Religious diversity is a Sunnatullahthat must be accepted by humans objectively, even the Lord reminded that everybody has been given a law and way in belief, then how humans compete to do goodness on the earth.The multi religions perspective, religious education in family basically shows similarities in pattern, goal and material. Its pattern and goal is to establish a good personality, to the Almighty God and also the other creatures, in order to make a responsible person. Different religions in a family is quite difficult to provide religious education to the children, though it seems harmonious, but it gets problems and psychological effects in the process of planting a belief or ideology to the children.

Abstract

This discussion refers to the classification made by Mallinckrodt (1928) an anthropologist as well as a Dutch colonial controller, who stated that the native of inhabitant of Borneo is the Dayak non-Muslims. This statement developed into the hot issue among researchers, and the linguist in particular, mainly after the independence.To identify the objectivity of the Mallinckrodt statement, this study tried to examine from the standpoint of linguistic science and other aspects, such as the identity markers inherited from the earlier by the Indonesian ancestors before the arrival of the colonialists.After identifying all of the facts in linguistic, cultural and social facts in Bakumpai society, can be concluded that the Mallinckrodt tesis, which is stated that the native of inhabitant of Borneo is the Dayak non-Muslims finally in this research found the different evidents. By using the comparative linguistics and synchronic that is conducted on Ngaju, Bakumpai and Banjar language either in Marabahan Bakumpai, explicitly that Bakumpai language is derived from Sub-Ngaju Dayak dialects. Thus,  in general conclusions that the language that is spoken in Marabahan is Bakumpai Dayak language and automatically, the speakers are also a part of the Dayak tribe. This case is refers to "The language is the nations identity.
