Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of flow rate (Q) on pressure drop (ΔP) and to find out how much pressure drop value (ΔP) and loss coefficient (k) occurred in valves. The method used is an experimental study, using a series of test  installations.  In  this  study  the  free  variables  used  were  the  flow  rate  that passes through the valve pipe, for bound variables are reynolds number (Re), loss coefficient (K) and pressure decrease (ΔP). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the greater the discharge of outflow (Q) the smaller the value of pressure reduction (ΔP) that occurs, and vice versa. The pressure drop value (ΔP) obtained at the valve opening was 16.6% for each point of ΔP1-2, ΔP1-3, ΔP1-4, ΔP1-5 of 18846.1 Pa; 19129.2 Pa; 20506.1 Pa; 20897.0 Pa. While the amount of friction coefficient value (hf) obtained at the valve opening is 99.6% for each point hf2, hf3, hf4, hf5 which is 0.188 mH2O; 0.263 mH2O; 0.338 mH2O; 0.414 mH2O. Keywords: Valve, Discharge, Head Loss, Pressure Drop

Abstract

Indonesia's economic development is currently heavily dependent on the industrial sector  which  continues  to  experience  rapid  development.  One  of  the  growing industrial areas is the construction industry, especially infrastructure and property development  that  requires  materials  such  as  block  paving.  The  purpose  of  this research  is  to  find  out  the  comparison  of  strong  press  paving  blocks  with  the addition of nickel slag and plastic cacahan (PET, HDPE, LDPE and PP). This research uses conventional (manual) randomized methods. The results of this study showed that  the  influence  of  the  addition  of  nickel  slag  and  plastic  cacahan  in  the manufacture  of  paving  blocks  against  strong  press  can  be  concluded  that  the addition  of  nickel  and  plastic  slag  with  strong  characteristics  can  increase  the strength of paving block press. The highest average press strength values were in Sample C samples, with mixed variations (cement 25%, coarse aggregate 5%, slag 25%, fine aggregate 5% and HDPE plastic cacahan 40%). has a press force of 155 kg/cm2 with a quality of C based on SNI 03-0691-1996. The lowest press test results were  found  in  sample  E  (cement  25%,  coarse  aggregate  5%,  slag  25%,  fine aggregate 5% and plastic cacahan PP 40%) with a press test value of 87.5 kg/cm2 with a quality of D based on SNI 03-0691-1996. Keywords: Paving block, Plastic Type, Strong Press

Abstract

Boiler is the most important part of a steam power plant. In this analysis, a water pipe tipe boiler is used which is operated at PLTU Moramo. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the calorific value of coal fuel and excess air on the efficiency of a pulverizer coal boiler with a capacity of 230 T/H at PLTU Moramo. The research was carried out by taking parameter data that was read in the PIMS application at DCS, certificates of coal analysis results, and daily reports from the operations division. The data that has been obtained is then used to calculate enthalpy, LHV, efficiency, and excess air. The results show that the efficiency of the calculation on the data obtained, the efficiency of the use of coal shipment 1912028 with an LHV value of 23.916.31 kJ/Kg which has an efficiency of 65.54% higher than coal shipment 2009075 with an LHV value of 23,183.90 kJ/Kg which has an efficiency of 62.98%. At the highest boiler efficiency of 65.54% achieved at 29.07% excess air. Keywords: PLTU, LHV, boiler efficiency, Excess air, Coal heat

Abstract

Boilers that use low-quality coal result in an increase in the amount of coal burning and the high formation of accumulated ash deposits (fouling  and salgging). It is necessary to conduct research  the effect of  fouling and slagging on boiler efficiency in steam power plant Moramo for the boiler performance improvement purpose. The objective of this research are identified fouling and slagging and how its affect boiler performance.  By using the principle of mass and energy balance, heat transfer in the evaporator and superheater areas are used as the basis for identifying slagging and fouling. Boiler efficiency is calculated by a direct method. An increase in flue gas temperature which is affected by a degradation in the rate of heat transfer indicates the formation of slagging and fouling. Boiler efficiency is related to the slagging index and sodium content in the ash of coal, the result of higher slagging index and lower the sodium content will further increase boiler efficiency. The best average efficiency of boiler is 89.853% when coal from supplier Y used as fuel with slagging index value is 2370.2 and sodium content in ash is 0.48%..Keyword: Fouling, slagging, heat transfer, efficiency, boiler

Abstract

PLTU Moramo is one of the Independent Power Producers (IPP) that supplies electricity to PT PLN. PLTU Moramo make use of turbine-generator with an installed capacity of 2x50 MW Steam Turbine - Full Condensing. PLTU Moramo Unit 1 experienced an increase in the condenser vacuum value after routine maintenance, the increase in the vacuum value affected to the heat rate and efficiency of the steam turbine cycle. The research conducted is to analyzes the effect of changes in the value of the condenser vacuum on the heat rate and efficiency of the steam turbine cycle by using a thermodynamic analysis approach and energy input-output methods. Data analysis uses actual parameters taken from the Distributed Control System (DCS) during normal operation. The results obtained in this study indicate that an increase in the condenser vacuum value affects the heat rate and efficiency of the steam turbine cycle, an increase in the vacuum value of -1 kPa results in a decrease in the average turbine heat rate of 57,673 kJ/kWh for a load of 40 MW Net and 93,575 kJ/ kWh for 50 MW Net load. Meanwhile, the average value of the steam turbine cycle efficiency increased by 0.37% for a load of 40 MW Net and 2.19% for 50 MW Net. Keywords: heat rate, efficiency, PLTU, vacuum

Abstract

Indonesia has abundant sources of solar energy with an average solar radiation intensity of about 4.8 kWh/m2 per day throughout Indonesia because it is located at the equator 6°N to 11°N and 9°E-141°E. That way the sun's energy that is not used up can be utilized. The purpose of this study is to determine the heat used by the collector for the desorption process and to determine the effect of variations in the angle of inclination of the collector on the efficiency of the collector. That way, one of them can be used for the water cooling process using a solar collector device on a solar heat adsorption cycle cooling machine The purpose of this study was to determine the heat used by the collector for the desorption process and to determine the effect of variations in the collector tilt angle on the efficiency of the collector. This research was conducted by varying the slope of the cooling machine collector with an adsorption cycle using solar energy. The test results show that the average theoretical useful heat at the collector (Qu) obtained by the 0° angle collector is 236,079 Watt, the 15° angle collector (from 08.00 – 15.30) is 131.683 Watt, and the 30° angle collector (from 08.00 – 16.00) is 179.638 Watt. on each test day. The average efficiency (η) from 08.00 – 15.30 (optimal measurement) obtained by the 0° angle collector is 51.296%, the 15° collector angle is 47.1%, and for the 30° angle collector the average efficiency is from 08.00 – 16.00 (optimal measurement) of 52.836%.Keywords: collector, adsorption, temperature.
