Abstract

This research aims to determine the characteristic briquettes of rice husk and sawdust. The treatment of this research includes non-carbonization processes, composition variation 30 % rice husk, 70 % sawdust powder, 50 % rice husk, 50 % sawdust powder, and 70 % paddy Husk, 30 % sawn wood powder (adhesive material considered homogeneous) as well as pressure variations (50 kgf/cm2, 100 kgf/cm2 and 150 kgf/cm2). The results of these things show that the higher the percentage of rice husk then the combustion time will be relatively longer, composition 50% rice husk and 50 % sawdust powder produces a higher maximum temperature than other composition, the higher the pressure given then the briquette density level will be greater and the resistance level the briquette will be higher and the Resistance index briquette is strongly influenced by the pressure and material composition briquette. Abstract

Waterwheels become one of the solutions to increase the need for power supplies especially in areas that are not able to reach electrical networks that have sufficient water resources. The research aims to determine the influence of change into the dyeing of the blade and slope of the blade angle to the power and efficiency of the lower flow waterwheel. The manufactured waterwheel model is an undershot type of 16-piece blade. The outer diameter of the Ferris wheel is 0.2 m and the diameter is 0.12 m. Blade is flat in size (0, 04x0,04) m. The Ferris wheel is made up of as many as 3 pieces with a tilt difference of the blade angle of 00 from the shaft, 100 of the shaft, and 200 of the shaft. The results showed that on immersion blade 0.01 m obtained power 0.16 Watt and efficiency 12.24%, in blade dyeing 0.02 m obtained power 0.162 Watt and efficiency 12.42 %, and dyeing 0.03 m obtained power 0.176 Watt and efficiency 13.45 %. While at the slope of a blade angle is obtained by 0.16 Watt power and efficiency 12.24 %, on the slope of blade angle of 100 acquired power 0.302 Watt and efficiency 23.1 %, and at the slope of a blade angle, 200 acquired power 0.447 Watt and efficiency 34.18 %. So it can be said that the more in the immersion blade the greater the power and efficiency of the Ferris wheel, and the more oblique blade angle than the greater the power and efficiency of the windmill.Keywords: Waterwheel, blade, angle, power, and efficiency

Abstract

The fruit grain Bark range is one potential alternative fuel to make briquettes. This research was conducted to know the proximate analysis and the rate ofcombustion of biocharcoal briquettes produced from the bark of the distance.Charcoal fruit beans that have been carbonized distances are further filtered using a sieve of 40 mesh with variations of kanji adhesive Composition 90%: 10%, 80%: 20% and 70%: 30%. Then both materials are mixed and printed into briquette then tested to know the heat value, moisture content, ash content, the content of flying substances, carbon levels and the rate of combustion. Based on the results of analysis obtained from this research if it is reviewed from the proximate analysis is the best fruit seed leather briquette is shown by charcoal briquettes of fruit beans distance and adhesive kanji with composition 90%: 10%, Heat value 6830 cal/GR, water content 8.82%, ash content 4.88%, flying substance content of 13.16% and fixed carbon levels 73.14%. The results of this study showed the difference treatment of composition of the leather charcoal briquette fruit range and adhesive kanji can give effect to the value of heat, moisture content, ash content.The content of flying substances, and fixed carbon levels.Keywords: Fuel, charcoal briquette, adhesive material, leather fruit grain spacing.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out how much electricity is in the mango river in the Mosolo Raya village. The research method used is to measure the flow of water with a storage method, measurement of water flow velocity, measurement of water falls height and the manufacture of Pelton turbine blades. The results showed that the largest water discharge value was 0.018182 m3/s on the 4th measurement, and the smallest water discharge value was 0.014679 m3/s on the 8th measurement, the largest speed value was 7.333225 m/s on the 4th measurement and the smallest speed value was 5.920402 m/s on the 8th measurement, the largest power value is 1215,984 watts on the 4th measurement and the smallest power value is 981.7119 on the 8th measurement. So, it can be concluded that the potential value of the mango river with the average electric power generated during the measurement is 110,779 Watt.Keywords: Power plant, horizontal axis, pelton turbine, mini hydro power

Abstract

Has conducted research on the analysis of the influence of cooling media variations on the hardness and tensile strength of welded joints using circular swing patterns on medium carbon steel. This study aims to determine the effect of cooling media variations on hardness and tensile test using circular swing patterns on medium carbon steel. The method used in this study is that steel is given heat treatment (welding) using 100 amperes, which are then subjected to rapid cooling with oil, air, and water-cooling media. After the welding process and the formation of specimens, tensile testing and hardness testing are done using the Vickers (HVN) method. The results of this study are: (1) the tensile strength welding results obtained on oil cooling media with a value 337.3956 MPa, strain 12.08333 %, elastic modulus 27.948202 MPa, air conditioning media with a voltage value of tensile 470.11347 MPa, strain 13.155557 %, elastic modulus 53.460519 MPa, water cooling media obtained tensile stress  548.165333 MPa, strain 36.6666667 % elastic modulus 15.0436717. (2) The level of violence in both the weld area and the HAZ area did not show a significant difference. The highest hardness is in water cooling where the hardness of 192.35 in the weld area is obtained 194.61 HVN hardness obtained. The lowest hardness occurred in air cooling where 168.65 hardness was obtained in the weld area while for the HAZ area 153.79 HVN hardness was obtained.Keywords: SMAW, circular swing pattern, hardness test, tensile test

Abstract

One type of prime movers that is widely used is a heat engine, a machine that uses thermal energy to do mechanical work. This study aims to determine how much achievement is produced by the MAK 8M453C Diesel engine.  In this study the authors used a thermometer, compression tester and multimeter to measure and calculate the data taken in the study. Calculation results obtained Ni indicated power generated is 3489.9 hp, Ne Effective Power of 31025 hp, while the engine power according to engine data is 3804.3 hp or 2800 Kw. From these figures, power decreased slightly by 8.2 %. This is caused by pressure loss of spraying and wear and tear on some parts of the engine. Effective fuel consumption of 0.12 kg/hp-hr and effective thermal efficiency of 52.26 %.  Keywords: Power of indication, effective power, efficiency.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find the tensile strength of fiberglass composite against the orientation of the lamina weaving angle. In this research composite making uses a hand lay-up method, with a fiber-matrix fraction of 30 % : 70 %. Specimen were made with ASTM D 638-01 tensile test standar. The result showed that the highes tensile test specimen value with the orientation of the weaving lamina angel is 0o/90o, 0o/90o, 0o/90o, 0o/90o, 0o/90o, 0o/90o, 0o/90o, 0o/90o which is 135,568 N/mm2. While the lowest tensile test specimen value are in the orientation of the weaving angles of lamina 0o/90o, 15o/105o, 30o/120o, -15o/-105o, -15o/-105o, 30o/120o, 15o/105o, 0o/90o, with voltage values tensile strength of 106,447 N/mm2. Keywors: Composite, fiberglass, angle orientation, tensile trength.

Abstract

In  the  implementation  of  construction  and  material  engineering,  the  choice  of materials  for  metal  material  needs  is  very  important.  The  research  objectives were planning the pendulum, swing shaft, the frame for the Charpy type impact test,  and  planning  the  test  specimen  holder.  The  research  method  includes planning  the  pendulum,  shaft,  arm,  bearing,  pole  frame  and  specimen  holder (anvil), as well as selecting materials and calculating the strength of the materials. The results of the research. The impact test tool uses a pendulum made of steel ST 37 with a pendulum length = 0.345 mm, volume = 213 mm3, mass = 1.67 kg, in the planning of the shaft, with the results of the planning calculation obtained the diameter of the shaft = 25.4 mm, while the moment torque obtained = 577,219 kg mm, in the planning of the Charpy type impact test, the frame uses C-profile steel with  a  size  of  125  x  65,  the  material  is  chosen  because  its  width  exceeds  the bearing holder, for tangsial force = 28,951 N, bending moment = 5240.1 N mm , cross-sectional  modulus  =  109.169  mm3,  the  specimen  holder  planning  must exceed  the  specimen  width  itself  so  that  the  specimen  can  be  placed  properly, the allowance = 1.206 mm2 and the planning of the impak test tool for the 10 J tool can be used to test plastic materials with an impact energy below 10 J, with a height of 610 ± 2 mm. Keywords:  Construction,  Materials  Engineering,  Metal  Materials,  Iron,  Steel, Impak.

Abstract

The  development  of  production  technology  and  metal  raw  materials  cannot  be separated from the use of welding technology. So that it can be said that there is almost no metal that cannot be welded. Welding is a metal joining technique by partially melting the main metal and filler metal. The purpose of this study was to determine the hardness and microstructure of single v seam weld joint and double v seam welded on low carbon steel. In this study, using hardness testing methods and conducting microstructure observations to determine the structure formed in the  welding  results.  The  results  showed  that  the  micro  structure  of  the  single seam  v  was  dominated  by  pearlite  which  had  high  hardness  properties  with  an average value of hardness in the weld metal area of  142.80 kg / mm2, the HAZ area of  132.72 kg / mm2, and the area Main metal (Base Metal) is 121.46 kg / mm2,  while  the  double  seam  v  is  dominated  by  ferrite  which  has  low  hardness properties with an average value of weld metal (Weld Metal) of 125.80 kg / mm2, HAZ area of 121 , 20 kg / mm2, and the base metal area of 112.60 kg / mm2. Keywords : SMAW, Low Carbon, hem, hardness.

Abstract

Cassava skin is a waste of high-carbohydrate cassava that can be treated asa an alternative fuel source. As for the purpose of this study, it is to know how to produce bioethanol  from  cassava  skin  and  how  much  ethanol  is  produced  in  the fermentation  destilation  procwss.  Bioethanol  research  from  the  cassava  skin  is made by means of a fermentation process using a 9 and 12 day fariation with a 20,4 and 60 gram supplement of a mixture (leaven/yeast) of a 20,4 and 60 gram that is cut  off  by  sample  destilting  devices.  Research  shows  that  the  longer  the fermentation from a mixture of refined caskbark and yeasts does not significantly affect the ethanol produced, since ethanol results from each fariation is 10%. Key words: Cassava suede, fermentation, bioethanol, renewable energy
