Abstract

Emotional intelligence and Adversity Quotient of students in SMP N 2 Nanggulan are still relatively low due to lack of sympathy, sense of responsibility, and irritability. This is thought to result in low mathematics learning outcomes. This study aims to determine: a significant influence between emotional intelligence and adversity quotient of students in school on mathematics learning outcomes of students of class VIII odd semester of SMP N 2 Nanggulan, Kulon Progo Regency 2015/2016 academic year. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMP N 2 Nanggulan, Kulon Progo Regency in the academic year 2015/2016, consisting of classes VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, totaling 96 students. Class VIII A as a trial class, Samples taken from class VIII B as experimental class 1 and class VIII C as experimental class 2. The sampling technique uses saturated sampling techniques. Data collection techniques using non-test test methods. Data collection instruments in the form of questionnaires and multiple-choice questions. The data collection instrument test uses a validity test, a reliability test, and a different power test. The data analysis technique used is the prerequisite test analysis including normality test and homogeneity test, followed by hypothesis testing using 2x2 Factorial Design. Finally, use the t-test to compare the high and low average of each instrument. The results showed that: (1) there was an influence of emotional intelligence on mathematics learning outcomes, evidenced by = 4,859439652 ≥   =4, 0039 at a significant level of 5%, db: V1 = 1 and V2 = 59, (2) there is an effect of adversity quotient on mathematics learning outcomes, evidenced by   = 6,265821956 ≥   =4,0039 at a significant level of 5%, db: V1 = 1 and V2 = 59, (3) there is an influence of emotional intelligence and adversity quotient on mathematics learning outcomes, evidenced by = 4,528768652 ≥  = 4,0039 at a significant level of 5%, db: V1 = 1 and V2 = 59. Then from the results of Tukey's HSD test showed that the third treatment (low emotional intelligence and high adversity quotient) which is the lowest average learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of learning independence and the use of learning resources that occur thus might affect the level of student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence or absence of positive and significant relationships between learning independence and the use of learning resources with students’ mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII of even semester in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta Academic of 2015/2016. The population in this study was all VIII class students as much 7 classes by total students 212. The sample was taken with a random sampling technique and derived class VIII B as a class sample with 27 students. Data collection technique used to test techniques to determine the result of mathematics learning outcomes and questioner techniques to determine the learning independence and use of learning resources. Instrument testing used validity and reliability testing. The technic to analysis test which is a test of homogeneity, normality, independent, and linearity test. Analysis of the data for testing hypotheses used correlation analysis and linear regression analysis. The results showed that F_count= 5,608648681 and F_table= 3,40 so F_count≥F_table which means there is a positive and significant relationship between learning independence and use of learning resources that occur thus might affect the level of student learning outcomes, with a coefficient of determination (r) = 0,5643728384 and ŷ = -23,63 + 0,49x1+ 0,76x2. The value of Relatively contribution of X1 = 32,645%, X2= 67,355% and value of effectively contribution of X1 = 10,398%, X2= 21,454%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parents' socioeconomic status and the learning environment of students with mathematics learning achievement for students of class VIII in the second semester of SMP N 3 Wates Kulon Progo in the 2014/2015 academic year. The population in this study were all students of class VIII Semester II as many as 75 students, consisting of 3 classes and each class consisting of 25 students. Data collection techniques used by the test method to obtain data on mathematics learning achievement, questionnaire method to obtain data on the socioeconomic status of parents and student learning environment. Item analysis uses the validity test and the reliability test. Hypothesis testing using product-moment correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that parents' socioeconomic status had a positive and significant effect on mathematics learning achievement with simple correlation analysis and the t-test obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.959. The student learning environment has a positive and significant effect on mathematics learning achievement, with simple correlation analysis and t-test obtained correlation coefficients of 0.987. Parents' socioeconomic status and student learning environment have a positive and significant effect on mathematics learning achievement obtained by the double determinant coefficient of 0.974, multiple linear regression equations Y = -0.000205X1+0.898505X2 – 26.981980, this shows that the socioeconomic status of parents and learning environment towards mathematics learning achievement is 97.4%. In the calculation obtained relative contributions from the socioeconomic status of parents by 0.03776% and from the student learning environment by 99.96224. An effective contribution can be obtained from the parents' socioeconomic status by 0.03677% and from the student learning environment by 97.334112%.

Abstract

This research was conducted because the independence of learning mathematics in class X AK 1 even semester of SMK Muhammadiyah Kretek Bantul in the 2015/2016 academic year was still lacking. The purpose of this study is to improve the independence of learning mathematics using a reciprocal teaching approach to class X AK 1 even semester of SMK Muhammadiyah Kretek Bantul in the academic year 2015/2016. This research is a type of classroom action research. Subjects in this study were students of class X AK 1 even semester of SMK Muhammadiyah Kretek Bantul in the 2015/2016 academic year. While the object studied in this study is the reciprocal teaching approach as an effort to improve mathematics learning independence of students of class X AK 1 even semester of SMK Muhammadiyah Kretek Bantul in the academic year 2015/2016. The study was conducted in 2 cycles, namely, cycle I and cycle II, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Cycle I and cycle II use the Reciprocal Teaching Approach. Data collection techniques in this study, namely observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. Analysis of the data used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that learning using the Reciprocal Teaching Approach could improve mathematics learning independence of students of class X AK 1 even semester of SMK Muhammadiyah Kretek Bantul in the academic year 2015/2016. This is evident from the results of observations of students 'mathematics learning independence in each cycle has increased, namely the average percentage of students' mathematics learning independence in cycle I amounted to 48.5119% who achieved enough criteria, and in the second cycle increased to 64.88095% which achieved good criteria. The results of interviews with students showed a positive response to the independence of students learning mathematics.

Abstract

Learning mathematics in class VII of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta in the 2015/2016 academic year still uses conventional methods that result in students who are less enthusiastic about learning mathematics. The use of inappropriate learning models makes students less familiar with the material explained by the teacher and results in low mathematics learning outcomes. The population in this study were VII grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta which consisted of 3 classes. Samples of 2 classes with a total of 67 students were taken by random sampling technique for the class obtained VII F as the experimental class A and class VII E as the experimental class B. The research instrument was a test of learning outcomes. Data analysis uses party testing and a one-party t-test. Based on the analysis of the first hypothesis test on mathematics learning outcomes with a significant level of 5% and 65 degrees of freedom obtained by tcount= 8.12> ttable = 1,999, it shows that there are significant differences between mathematics learning outcomes using NHT type cooperative learning models and those using models TPS type of cooperative learning, and the second test with a significant level of 5% and 65 degrees of freedom obtained by tcountt= 8.12> ttable = 1.66 indicates that the cooperative learning model NHT type is more effective than the TPS cooperative learning model in improving mathematics learning outcomes students.
