Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems all along coastal area has a lot of benefits, such as home for coastal animals (fishes and insects) and acting as coastal line protector. One of the biggest mangrove ecosystem in Surabaya is Wonorejo, which now not only act as mangrove preservation but also becoming one of eco-tourism destination in East Java. Tourists are usually come to take photos, fishing, enjoying the birds chirping and the ambience of mangrove forest. Beside that, Wonorejo also becoming one of research object for mangrove ecosystem in East Java. Several research has been done, such as research to examine mangorve diversity, birds, fishes and crabs. One of the research that hasn’t been done is about Arthropods, especially in the class of Insects and Arachnids. In this paper, the potentiality of Arthropods diversity all along Wonorejo Ecotourism Area will be examined and researched. The results will be used as alternative in order to develop educational function in this area. Tourists will not only be enjoying the ambience and take photos, but also they will have educational experience when visiting Wonorejo. Arthropode samples from several Ordos, such as Diptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Odonata, Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Orthoptera and Araneae have taken on June 2016 in Wonorejo Ecotourism Area using sweepnet and hands collecting methods. All of those sample then have examined in Zoology and Animal Engineering Laboratory at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Surabaya. Then, the data will be used as the background to develop Wonorejo tourism potentials, especially in educational form.

Abstract

Laboratory identification of skin lesion is important for the correct diagnosis and choice of therapy. Microscopic examination of skin or nail scraping or hair fragments in 10%-KOH provides rapid result but fungal growth in culture is required for identification of species. Unfortunately, culture requires a few days to 2 weeks, and there is variable colony appearance and colour. Rapid and correct diagnosis has been enabled by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), but has not yet been applied for routine diagnosis of patients. Therefore we investigated the ability of culture using Saboraud Dextrose Agar, multiplex-PCR, PCR-RFLP with ITS1-ITS4 primers and MvaI, and PCR with (GACA)4 primer to identify of the etiology agents of 130 patients with tinea who were positive showing hyphae in 10%-KOH preparation. Skin scrapings were collected in Makassar during January-June 2016 and examinations were carried out in the Microbiology Laboratory of Hasanuddin University. Results: Dermatophytosis occurred in 73 (56,1%) males, and 57 (43,8%) females. Scraping was obtained from 78 (60%) skin and 52 (40%) nail lesions. Based on age stratification, 68 (52,3%) were 10-18 years old, 43 (33%) were 19-45 years old, and 19 (14,6%) were >45 years old. While 39 (30%) samples grew in culture, Multiplex-PCR, PCR-RFLP with ITS1-ITS4 primers and MvaI, and PCR with GACA4 primer amplified DNA of 130 (100%), 126 (96,9%), and 106 (81,5 %) samples, respectively. Multiplex-PCR was not able to distinguish between spesies in 99 (76,2%), PCR-RFLP with ITS1-ITS4 primers and MvaI in 29 (22,3%) and PCR with GACA4 primer in 20 (15,4%) samples.

Abstract

Resistance spot welding is one of welding methods which is most widely used especially in the medical equipment industry. Unfortunately, interfacial fracture and pullout fracture often occur. The aim of this research is to find optimum current and time of resistance spot welding process for the best micro structure and mechanical properties. This research combined two spot welding parameters of cold rolled steel sheets1.8 SPCC-SD and nut weld M6: current (49, 52, 55, 58, 61 Ampere) and time (14, 17, 20, 23, 26 cycle). Optical microscopic, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) were used to examine weld zone, heat affected zone (HAZ) and parent metal microstructure. The mechanical properties were investigated using universal tensile test and Vickers micro hardness. It was found that the lowest current and cycle result incomplete joining, while the higher current and cycle increase tensile strength and hardness. The micro structures tend to be ferritic with acicular, grain boundary and widmanstaten ferrite on the weld zone for all parameters. The best microstructure and mechanical properties occur at 14 cycle and 61 A of parameters combination.

Abstract

Analysis of data seismic attributes used in the Basin of Nova-Scotia, Canada. This analysis aimed to determine the distribution of reservoir and reservoir characterization. Seismic attribute used the instantaneous attributes which included instantaneous amplitude, instantaneous frequency and instantaneous phase while for reservoir characterization used crossplot between instantaneous attributes with well log data. The attribute ran on specified target zone, the attribute analysis to determine the distribution of the reservoir. Crossplot conducted to determine the characteristics or physical properties of the reservoir in the target zone. Furthermore, lithologic and stratigraphic analysis to determine the geological conditions of the target zone. The study was conducted in inline and crossline of Logan Canyon formations. Research results obtained in the form of small fractures that are not visible and the two major faults with direction Northwest-Southeast and has the attributes of instantaneous output value is low. This fault is also the location of a distribution reservoir contained in the target zone. For the reservoir characteristics such as porosity and acoustic impedance range of values obtained respectively, so it can be said that the target zone is dominated by a sandstone reservoir form.

Abstract

Naturally hydrophobic films is currently receiving a lot of attention and has inspired efforts to create biomimetic surfaces. Application technology can be used as a water repellent coatings, for glass at a solar cell that can clean independently, so the use of outdoor solar cell can be used in a relative long period of time. In this study, the silica sol is made by making a solution of Na Silicate at 7%. and for the stabilization solution is used 1 M citric acid solution until a pH of about 2. Glass hydrophobic obtained by film coating on the glass test by means of dip coating, silica sol used is stabilized silica sol, glass coated silica sol are soaked in a surface-modifying agent that is TEOS, methanol, and n hexane in the ratio 1: 1: 1 volume ratio. The goal of treatment is to form silanol groups on the silica surface. The best hydrophobicity properties obtained on condition of Na silicate 7%, the modification time 2 hours at a temperature of 300C, the contact angle (Ө) of 128.40. The results of the study when compared to heating without microwave which takes 7 hours at 500C in terms of aspects of energy consumption, the use of the microwave can save energy by almost 85% to earn hydrophobic movie characters.
