Abstract

This research aims to apply the Fama-French models and test the effect of alternative variable of bond yield spread, default spread (RBBB – RAAA and RAAA – RF), and the term spread (RSUN10-RSUN1), as proxy variables of the business cycle, in IDX stock data during 2005-2010. Four types of asset pricing models tested are Sharpe-Lintner CAPM, Fama-French models, Hwang et al.model, and hybrid model. The results showed that the size effect and value effect has an impact on excess stock returns. Slopes of market beta, SMB, and HML are more sensitive to stock big size and high B / M. Default spreads and term spreads in Hwang et al. model can explain the value effect, and weakly explain the size effect, meanwhile the power of explanation disappeared on Hybrid models. Based on the assessment adjusted R2 and the frequency of rejection of non-zero alpha, is found that the hybrid model is the most suitable model.

Abstract

The influence of the strategy to company performance is the most widely researched topic until now. Various literatures state that the influence of company performance to strategy does not stand alone, but is affected by a variety of external and internal contingency factors. The discussion in this paper begins with a description of the two major strategic management theories in the theory of MBV and RBV. So both theory of RBV and MBV theory indeed complement each other and have an important role in explaining the influence of strategy to the company performance. This research aims to prove which theory is much more instrumental in explaining the influence of strategy on performance is not important to do, because this is futile efforts .

Abstract

Subsidized fuel consumption continues to increase from year to year also put pressure on the state budget so that it becomes increasingly severe. This is caused by the governments energy policy tends to be adaptive and short-term oriented (myopic), so the government pays little attention to aspects of long-term autonomy of the Indonesian economy. Subsidy in the 2011 budget amounted to 33.42% of the total expenditure budget, 86% subsidy is used for energy subsidies and 64.6% the largest share of subsidies. The biggest users of fuel subsidy, is land transportation, with the classification of private vehicles, so it can be said that the subsidy is not received by the appropriate require. Related to this, the challenges that must be faced is the obligation to make a breakthrough in order to encourage domestic savings in fuel consumption and diversification in the use of non-fuel energy sources. There are three policy options as an effort to optimize the fuel subsidy savings. First, restrictions on the use of the fuel subsidy program, unfortunately the prospects of success of this policy is not good considering unprepared infrastructure and the emerging moral hazard. Second, the increase in fuel prices, the authors recommend the price increase to Rp 2000, - taking into account the effects of inflation, and financial savings, for the welfare of the people. Third, the use of CNG and new products from the fuel, this policy option can be run in the long run because it requires a longer preparation in building infrastructure.

Abstract

Interdependency analysis (canonical correlation analysis) intends to determine how much influence among the variables comprising two groups of variables (set variable) reciprocal between demand variables non-functional group member to request a non-functional group non-member. By using a sample of 45 respondents which were valid and reliable, normally distributed, homogeneous, numeric and no autocorrelation, the resulting data consist of 2 groups (2 sets), each group consisting of three indicator variables (manifest) variables, namely Mode Effect(M1 and NM1), Prestige effect (M2 and nm2) and the Veblen effect (M3 and NM3) with the hypothesis that the variable demand affects Non-functional Member Non-Member. Data were analyzed with the model of canonical correlation and MANOVA statistical test at alpha level of 5% (1 and 2-way), with the tools SPSS ver.21, showed that the effect of the variable group (based on eigenvalue) Member of the Non-Member is larger than the effect of non-Member to Member in 2 of 3 Root generated. These results indicate that the effect of Mode, prestige, and Veblen affect to non-member and statistically significant.

Abstract

Difficulty of finding investment funding has made a nation uses every means to gather them. Sources of investment funding to come from domestic as well as from abroad. Governments should be able to induce foreign investors to be interested in investing in Indonesia, as well as how to make the capital owners in the country to remain willing to make investments in Indonesia so that they do not invest their capital abroad. In this regard, the government must be able to prepare a conducive investment climate in the country (economic growth, interest rates, inflation, and macroeconomic policies in the country) for economic actors to feel safe in their activities. The purpose of this study is to see the impact of domestic capital and foreign capital in investment transactions in Indonesia. The methodology used is regression with time series. The analysis showed that changes in macroeconomic conditions such as growth, interest rates and inflation in some developed countries, including America and European countries in the region does not give a significant influence on Indonesian Foreign Investment, therefore the impact of the severe financial crisis in America and Europe today on Indonesian Foreign Investment is still within limits of tolerance. Therefore, although there are problems in the investment climate in Indonesia, Indonesias investment prospects over the coming period is still good, though perhaps with slowed investment growth.
