Abstract

Technical, Vocational, Education and Training spans our educational systems, from toys for infants to sending children to school to learn Science, Engineering, and Technology. An inclusive society needs real-world education. Equal access for balanced empowerment may be achieved via two techniques. TVET and SDGs work if done well. TVET-SDGs Linkage is a major problem that must be addressed if Nigeria is to fulfil its UN duties, especially in building an inclusive society as outlined in Objectives 4, 5, 8, 10 and 16 of the 17-Point Agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals with 169 goals. Inclusive education promotes a just and equitable society as envisioned by the UN through mobilising stakeholders. The article discusses leveraging TVET to meet Nigeria's SDGs via inclusive education. Secondary schools, vocational centres, technical colleges, polytechnics, and universities must have high-quality teaching and training facilities and highly-trained teaching staff.

Abstract

The advancement of Augmented Reality (AR) technology has opened up new opportunities in the development of innovative learning tools. In this scientific paper, we conducted a testing of the "AR-Ngeuna 4.0" application specifically designed for learning West Javanese traditional cuisine. The research design used in this study was cross-sectional with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach. The research results indicate that the majority of respondents rated the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of the "AR-Ngeuna 4.0" application as highly appropriate for learning traditional cuisine. Users' attitudes toward using the application and their behavioral intention to continue using it also received positive responses. The assessment of user awareness in utilizing the application (Actual System Usage) was also favorable. Therefore, the "AR-Ngeuna 4.0" application is deemed suitable for use as a learning tool for traditional cuisine by students in Vocational High Schools, especially in the Culinary Arts Program.

Abstract

An accessible explanation of academic writing differences between a position paper and an empirical paper for graduate students’ writing approach. The purpose is for graduate scholars who want to use these articles for basic knowledge and fundamental ideas. It can also be used as a textbook or reference. The paper revealed information regarding academic writing differences between position papers, empirical papers and authenticate benefits.  Both position papers and empirical papers involve research and analysis but the main difference is that position papers present a specific stance or argument while empirical papers present objective data and research findings. It was concluded that a position paper and an empirical paper focus on argumentation persuasion versus original research create a new body of knowledge scientifically.

Abstract

Soft skills are increasingly seen as being crucial for the modern workforce due to the rapid and pervasive digitalisation that has transformed the nature of employment. To work with new technologies and stay up with the rapid changes in technology, graduates require employability skills. Despite the growing demand there remains a shortage of employability skills, organisations frequently struggle to identify qualified candidates for digital jobs because workforces frequently lack the skills necessary to manage digital change. Soft skills became more important as the pace of world of work moved online. Meanwhile, the role of TVET in job creation cannot be over emphasised in the changing world. Thus, the study examined how soft skills can enhance TVET graduates’ employability. Study participants included 351 students from Botswana TVET schools. To better understand how soft skills relate to TVET graduates' employability, we used STATA software to establish the correlation between the two variables. The result indicated that soft skills promote TVET graduates' employability. Hence, all TVET administrators should keep up-to-date with this present model so that they can design policies that promote employability for TVET graduates.

Abstract

Technology-enriched learning was integrated into the teaching of abstract concepts in electrical/electronic technology with investigation of its effects on students’ academic performance and learning retention. A quasi-experimental design was adopted for the study. All 178 technical education students specializing in electrical/electronic technology from the 4 universities offering the programme in the south-west, Nigeria were involved in the study. The achievement test instrument used for data collection has a reliability coefficient of .92 obtained through test retest technique. Six research hypotheses were tested in the study. Data collected were analysed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study established that technology enriched learning significantly improves students’ academic performance (F(1, 169) = 12.707; p = .000) and retention (F(1, 169) = 94.097; p = .000) compared to traditional lecture method. It was recommended that the idea of technology-enriched learning should be adopted by university teachers to foster effective teaching of abstract concepts in science and engineering while traditional lecture method should be discouraged in the teaching of abstract concepts.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the utilization of the internet and the internet access of vocational teachers at the vocational schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research uses  a descriptive quantitative method and the research instrument used was a set of questionnaires distributed to 267 vocational school teachers in West Java before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research variables include the utilization aspects and the vocational teachers' access to the internet at home and at school in searching for learning material resources. The data obtained were analysed using statistical analysis.. Results show that 82% of teachers used the internet to find the subject-related resources, 66% possessed teleconferencing facilities, 63% already had internet connections at home. Furthermore, teachers' internet usage frequency during the COVID-19 pandemic was higher than before COVID-19. Teachers who work from home used the internet longer during the COVID-19 pandemic; more than 5 hours a day, compared to pre-COVID-19; which was 1-2 hours. Teachers who work from school also used the internet 3-4 hours longer during the COVID-19  than prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was around 1-2 hours.

Abstract

The suitability of work in adolescents with education graduates is very important, to explore the role of learning and skill skills in the process of transitioning from education to the world of work with results that show more dominance in theoretical knowledge, communication, problem-solving, and learning abilities. The transition from education to the world of work is marked by conditions that are constantly changing and the stability of education is starting to diminish. This study analyzes the most relevant themes related to the transition from education to the world of work through scientometric analysis using the keywords “School-to-Work Transition”, “S2W” and “Transition” as input. The Scopus database is used because it is considered the largest and most trusted database for scientometric analysis. VOSviewer software was adopted as a scientometric analysis tool for network mapping based on author, country, source, keywords, and latest discoveries. The analysis conducted on March 1 2022, found a total of 726 documents in the period 2001 to 2021 of STWT research with filtered articles in English. The results of this study indicate that in the last twenty years the number of publications on STWT has grown significantly. Based on the findings of this analysis, studies on STWT in the last four years have focused on themes related to unemployed youth, education and training, early school leave, and the country of Italy. Along with the times and increasingly sophisticated technology, a researcher requires to have innovations that are useful for further research
