Abstract

More than a half of population in Indonesia are women, which is a potential sources for the country. However, they are still discriminated in terms of job opportunity as well as in family role.In Bali, most of woman have a great contribution in family income, particularly in agricultural sector and also in other informal sectors that could bring more income for the families. Due to the fact that Balinese women plays an important role in family income earning, it is interesting to study the awareness of woman labour role in Bali.Even though the awareness of woman labour role has been done by giving some extension services, however, it is still needed more information for women in mass media to extend their awareness about their important role, especially in gender equality.This paper is a library study, therefore it is a general view of some papers written by researchers in woman and gender issues.

Abstract

This article aims to give the understanding about gender and its mainstreams and also present some terms related to gender. Understanding and applying the concept of gender is to realize equivalence and justice of gender in our life and development. The mainstreams of gender are the strategies to gain the equivalence of harmonious between men with women. Due to accelerate the understanding and applying the concept of gender and its mainstream in various life area and development, hence some terms of gender require comprehending.

Abstract

Since a long time ago women are struggle their rights exactly in the sector of wedding law that’s against a Poligamy in Indonesia, but it couldn’[t 100%, just Poligamy with tight condition would be allow, in spite of that condition often be forged, so that polygamy threatened a house life which to come to sorrow woman in their childs. That means failed a purpose of wedding that regulated in “UU No. 1 Tahun 1974” because that a whole women in Indonesia still struggle their rights especially against Poligamy.

Abstract

Pap smear sebagai alat diagnosis dini kanker serviks telah dilakuka sejak tiga dasa warsa terakhir. Di negera-negara maju, pap smear telah terbukti menurunkan kejadian kanker serviks invasif 46-76% dan metalitas kanker serviks 50-60%. Berbeda dengan Indonesia, pap smear belum terbukti mampu meningkatkan temuan kanker serviks stadium dini dan lesi perkanker. Hal ini dikarenakan bawa kuantitas sumber daya manusia yang rendah, prosedur tes pap yang komplek, akurasi pap smear yang sangat bervariasi dengan negatif palsu yang tinggi serta sistempelaporan yang kurang praktis , wilayah Indonesia sangat luas yang terkait dengan kesulitan transportasi dan komunikasi, dan para wanita sering enggan diperiksa karena ketidak tahuan, rasa malu, rasa takut, dan faktor biaya. Hal ini umumnya karena masih rendahnya tingkat pendidikan penduduk Indonesia.

Abstract

The national government of Indonesia is committed to legal gender equality by the 1945 Indoensia Constitution, article 27 (1), and the ratification of the Convention for Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in 1984. However, customary law still prevailing in many regions in Indoneia often perpetuates deeply rooted discrimination based on gender until today. Examples of such discrimination are to found in Minagkabau, Java, and Bali where inheritance is regulated by gender biased customary law. Appropriate development policies and education may bring about a legal culture and practice that upholds legal gender equality.
