Abstract

In Muntigunung, the farmers? earning from agricultural sector is insufficient to fulfill of household need. And the limited of employment increase the social problems like poverty, beggar, child-waif and drop out of school, and also resident migration. The migrant women of Muntigunung earn for living in town because of their own willingness, invited by friends or relatives. Because of their low formal education, they work in informal sector. Besides increasing their earning, their job in informal sector also enable her to increase her skills and encourage her to compete in public sector. Kata kunci : migrasi, gepeng, sektor informal.

Abstract

Dedang songke or the activity of weaving traditional cloth (songke) is a tradition that is still widely practiced by housewives as the ancestral heritage of Manggarai Community, especially in the Orchard of Ringkas. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the reasons why women in Ringkas Orchard made dedang songke as home based production (2) to find out the implications of dedang songke as home based production for the lives of the weavers, their families, and the people of Ringkas Orchard. This study uses the need achievement theory and the rational choice theory. While the concept used in this study are dedang songke, handicraft industry, and home based production. In this study, the research method used was qualitative with two data sources namely primary data and secondary data, through observation and interview for collecting the data. The results found from the research show that the background of the housewives in Ringkas Orchard works as weavers because of internal and external factors. Internal factors include: the desire to help husband to fulfill family needs, the desire to get recognition and the desire to continue their ancestral’s heritage. While external factors include: insufficient employment, inadequate farming/gardening production, and educational factor. The struggle of women in dedang songke handicraft industry as home based production has implications for the individual weavers, their families, and communities.

Abstract

Pedawa Village community, Banjar sub-district, Buleleng Regency has two kawitan namely kulit and kawitan lokal. Kawitan kulit that found in Pedawa Village is the general kawitan in Bali, meanwhile kawitan local of the Pedawa Village community refers to Yos which must be owned by all Pedawa Village communities. The Yos has a highly glorified God and the god closest to the community because the God is believed to be a protective deity, with the existence of the Yos the formation of social class in society. This reserach aimed to know the status and role of community members based on Yos, and to reveal the implications of Yos for the social structure of the Pedawa Village community. The results of the study revealed that there were 14 types of Yos. From several types of Yos, there are several members of community who have the status and role in a ceremony namely as Balian Desa, Premas, Headman, Janbangul, Pedewasan, and Sekaa Gong. Yos also has important implications and meanings toward the Pedawa Village community. The implications of Yos on aspects of the pedawa Village community belief system, besides the implications there are also meanings of Yos covering religious meaning, social meaning and cultural meaning.

Abstract

Doka Nikisi’e is a village located in Ngada district which adheres to the matrilineal kinship system. However, even though women holding rights in traditional houses, men also have important roles in the kinship system in the village of Nikisi'e. Therefore, to avoid discrepancy and insurgency, it’s necessary to have a good gender relation in both case. For DokaNikisi’e people, even though the matrilineal kinship system greatly glorifies women, they still consider that this’s not to give women an absolute power, but solely for the sake of harmony between both side.The matrilineal kinship system in DokaNikisi'e can be studied by applyingRatnaMegawangi’s nurture and nature theory, called role theory. Robert Linton. While the concepts used as a reference in this study are concept of gender, kinship system concept and matrilineal concept. This research is a qualitative research which is obtained by ethnographic research models. Data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, literature studies, and data analysis that is useful for processing objects in the research location.The results of this research shows that there is a process in the matrilineal kinship system inDokaNikisi’e village which explains the stages of the matrilineal kinship is formed through the marriage system. And in this process explained the classification of roles between men and women and allotment of inheritance in traditional houses.Besides explaining the process, this research also explains the significations contained in the matrilineal kinship system in DokaNikisi’e village.

Abstract

Manikliyu society, Kintamani has a rites that is performed from generation to generation that is metoh-tohan. The problem in this research, focuses on two things: (a) how is the process of metoh-tohan rites in Manikliyu Village and (b) what is the function and meaning of metoh-tohan implementation in Manikliyu Village. As for its purpose is to know the procession of metoh-tohan rites, and to reveal the function and meaning of the implementation of metoh-tohan rites in Manikliyu Village. The concept used as a guideline in this research is the concept of rites, metoh-tohan, and Bali Aga Village. Similarly, in this study using the method of ethnography in the form of qualitative research with data collection techniques through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and literature study. The results showed that the ritesl metoh-tohan through various stages: nanceb (install) penjor, making temple Bentar and Gelung Kuri, Melasti, Sampiyan Oyod lunga (visiting) to Kahyangan Tiga, Pura Dadia, and pengaksan, metoh-tohan, Metalun Teruna, Metani, Metalun Desa, and Mabuang. The Function and meaning of rites metoh-tohan as follows: (a) function and social meaning,(b) function and meaning of education,(c) Economic function, (d) the function meaning of religious, and (e) psychological function.

Abstract

Hindus have many symbols, which relate to religious life, social life, and others. One form of symbols is a symbol of titi gonggang located in the Pura Agung Gunung Raung Taro Village. The existence of titi gonggang symbol in Pura Agung Gunung Raung has a strong relationship with Rsi Markandeya trip to Taro Village. Because titi gonggang is a specially made sign, to mark the arrival of Rsi Markandeya in the area. The aims of this research are to know: (a) how to form titi gonggang in Taro Village and (b) what is the meaning of titi gonggang symbol for Taro Village community. The symbolic form of titi gonggang located in several temples in Taro Village can be studied through representational theory, while the meaning of titi gonggang symbol according to Taro village community can be studied through interpretive theory. The concepts used as guidelines in this research are the concept of symbol representation, the concept of titi gonggang, the concept of Pura Agung Gunung Raung, and the concept of Taro Village community. The results showed that the shape of titi gonggang symbol in Puseh Puakan Temple, Pura Agung Gunung Raung, Puseh Tatag Temple, and Pura Dalem Tatag have in common. The physical shape is rectangular, with a hole. Above the hole, there is a bamboo that resembles a bridge called a titi. The type of bamboo used for titi is tiing rope or bamboo rope (Giganlochloa apus), while the length of bamboo can be measured using limbs, that is hand (depa). The measurement method is based on the kosala asta in the construction of the temple. Furthermore, socio-cultural significance is reflected in the community's treatment of titi gonggang as a mechanism for conflict resolution. In addition, the meaning of education was seen with people who apply character and courtesy in accordance with titi gonggang. The number of bamboo in titi gonggang in each of the temples with binary opposition, makes the diversity of symbolic meaning. One cause of the diversity of meaning is the spread of culture (diffusion).

Abstract

Subaya Village is the one of the Desa Bali Aga which is located in Kitamani, Bangli district. This village is still retaining the traditional culture which is given by their ancestors. “Naur Kelaci” is the strict regulation of the marriage for Desa Subaya people. It is held on every purnamaning sasih kasa. The poeple believe on sasihkasa to pay the kelaci, based on their reliance that sasihkasa is the best day in paying the kelaci. Naur Kelaci is the one of the last chain from the wedding ceremony of the people who had been married. Hence, based on the understanding, the problem of this research is stated as the following (1) How is the procces of the NaurKelaci in Desa Subaya? (2) What is the function of Naur Kelaci in the wedding ceremony in Desa Subaya?The proccess of NaurKelaci ceremony could be analyzed by the religious theory, while thefunction, is analyzed by the theory of fuctional structural, and simbolic interaction. NaurKelaci tradition andn wedding ceremony is the concept used in this reserach. This research used ethnography reserach method which is categorized as a qualitative research. In order to get the data, interviewing the participants was conducted. The result of this study shows that the ceremony of Naur Kelaci is purposed to avoid the doom in life especially in the family, and it is the way to purify themselves from the negativety, at once also for the village itself from the dirtiness.

Abstract

The advancement of Western modern medication is not forever able to provide total remedy for the patient. Complement to the existing treatment, the community at Tiga Village, District of Susut, Bangli, is still seeking traditional treatment as an alternative of therapy. Whereas this research aims to find out: (a) why balian usada is still exist in health service, and (b) how is the process and mechanism of health treatment system performed by balian usada in treating the patient. The choice of therapy towards balian usada can be examined through the health ecology approach, the reason to choose balian usada as alternative of therapy can be examined through health belief model theory. The concept being used in this research is existence concept, balian usada concept, and treatment concept. Therefore, this research is using ethnography research method.The result of research shows that the existence of balian usada in health service at Tiga Village up to now is still high. It is influenced by four factors, namely (a) the factor of patients’ closeness to balian usada; (b) factor of the same cultural background; (c) factor of community’s trust towards balian usada; and (d) cost factor. Meanwhile the process and mechanism of health treatment system on treating patient applied by balian usada at Tiga Village, is starting from diagnosing the disease with various means. Related to the treatment and therapy for the patient, balian usada has a guideline on Lontar Usada and verbal knowledge hereditarily.

Abstract

This research examines the development of the Tourism Village in Timpag Village, Tabanan Regency. The problem is focused on (a) the process and mechanism for the development of the Timpag Tourism Village, (b) the potential and constraints in the development of the Timpag Tourism Village, (c) The form of alternative solutions for developing potential and overcoming obstacles to the development of the Timpag Tourism Village. The problems were analyzed by using the Theory of Tourism Development and the Components of Tourism Attraction. This research uses qualitative methods including observation, interview, and document study techniques. The research resulted that the development of the Timpag Tourism Village was an initiative of a citizen which received positive responses from the community and the village government. The types of potential tourist attractions that are developed include natural, cultural, and artificial tourist attractions, development constraints include accessibility, facilities, infrastructure, marketing, insufficient institutions and human resources. Alternative solutions for development include structuring the potential for natural and artificial tourist attractions, while solutions to overcome obstacles include the development of accessibility, supporting facilities and infrastructure, promotion and marketing, as well as human resources and institutions.
