Abstract

This article examines a dialogue between Al-Qur’an and the Bible which have many similiarities particularly on the topic of stories. However, the studies on them have always been conducted separately, resulting in confusion among mufassirs when they try to understand the stories in the Qur’an based on the structure of the verses. In order to overcome this confusion, Gabriel Said Reynolds offers a method of reading Al-Qur’an as a homily. The Bible becomes the comparison and helps mufassirs to get detail information related to the same topics. One of the examples is the case of Sarah’s laughter. Mussafirs have different opinions on it because of the structure of verses written in the Qur’an. According to Gabriel Said, the problem would not appear if they wanted to study the Bible. The Bible states that Sarah’s laughter was caused by the good news about the birth of Isaac.

Abstract

The studies of miracles of the Qur’an have long been dominated by the composition of the versatility, the selection of discussions and the placement of balanced vocabulary, all of which extinguish the miracles of the Qur’an language. The studies continue to develop and emerge the studies of miracles of the Qur’an by looking at the mathematical miracles in the Qur’an. The miracles in the Qur’an were first introduced by Rashad Khalif by discovering the miracles of numbers in Qur’an verses. Some other studies tried to reveal the miracles of the Qur'an through matching and shifting certain aspects in Qur'an. Unlike in the previous studies, Abu Zahra An-Najd tried to relate words with the phenomenon of mathematical miracles that had been studied previously. This study tries to amend I‘jāz ‘adadī in the Qur'an and the Secret Book of Abu Zahra an-Najdi.

Abstract

At-Tarbiyyatul Wathoniyyah Islamic Boarding School (PATWA) located in the village of Mertapada Kulon, Astanajapura District, Cirebon Regency, is one of the Islamic boarding schools that conducts a routine reading of Surah Yasin, or commonly known as Surah Yasin Fadilah, in which there are dhirk and prayers. The phenomenon was used as the object of this study with some research questions formulated, which are (1) why do they conduct a routine reading of Surah Yasin Fadilah?, (2) what is the purpose of reading Surah Yasin Fadilah?, and (3) how does the practice of reading Surah Yasin Fadilah affect the community?

Abstract

Historically, the practice of reading the Qur'an had already existed as Islam entered the archipelago. Unfortunately, the tendency of Qur’anic studies has long been dominated by the tafsir and translation of Qur’an. In the 20th century, the studies of the Qur’an came through a different tendency, namely Tajweed. This paper intends to examnine a treatise of “Miftah al-Lisan” written by K.H. Abdul Djamil Nawawi. This treatise is the science of Tajweed that departs from a social phenomenon, namely the community of Quranic tadarus. The media to deliver this treatise are local languages. The other characteristic of “Miftah al-Lisan” is that it does not only explain Tajweed, but it also contains laws, verbal solutions, and advice for students and teachers.

Abstract

This paper explains the commodification of religion in the form of the Qur'an recitation on Kh-Q bottled water in Kudus. Commodification is the process of transforming goods and services that once only have value-in-use (for example, the value-in-use of drinks is to quench the thirst, the value-in-use of stories is to communicate or share experiences) into commodities that have value-in-exchange because they can bring profits in the market (for example, after the drink is packed in bottles, after the story is written in a book or novel, or other examples, the commercialization of agriculture to sell food and drama production for commercial broadcasting). The phenomenon in Kudus reflects the existence of a commodity that blends with religion, which is the Qur’an recitation on the production of bottled water under the Kh-Q brand. This study used a descriptive-analytical approach as the analysis instrument for the recitation of Al-Qur`an (khataman) in Kudus. The results of the analysis in this study show that PT. Buya Barokah has placed religion, through recitation of the Qur'an (khataman), in one of its production processes. Kh-Q water, which is a product of PT. Buya Barokah, has had a dual role. Not only does this water circulate in the economy, but it also has a spiritual function as prayer water. The manifestation of religious commodification is found in the production of bottled water with the spirit of spiritual function of religion in Al-Qur'an recitation (khataman).

Abstract

Educational values incorporated in Fawa>tih} al-Suwar are as tanbi>h (warnings) and guidelines for life, as knowledge embracing many secrets of Allah SWT that cannot be known, as a motivation to always seek knowledge and be taqarrub to Allah Swt, and as a doubt dissolver about Quran, especially for Muslims who are weak in faith because they are influenced by the words of the enemies of Islam which state that the Quran is the product of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The presence of munasabah that understands the correlation between verses or surahs in Quran certainly has good wisdoms in developing education. Thus, the concept of munasabah is a critical way of examining the interrelationships between verses or between surahs in Quran.

Abstract

The tradition of khataman al-Qur?an routinely in Tahfidz Boarding School at Krapyak Yogyakarta, Sunan Pandanaran Yogyakarta Boarding School (pesantren), Al-Asy'ariyah Wonosobo Boarding School (pesantren), Al-Muayyad Solo Boarding School (pesantren), and so on. The term "khataman" in such pesantren is a term aimed at the annual activities of the completion of some students in memorizing juz ?amma, certain letters from the Alquran determined by the pesantren, and especially because of the students who have completed memorizing al- Qur'an 30 juz. The traditions and phenomena of khataman and graduation, especially at the Sunan Pandanaran Islamic Boarding School, need to be reviewed as to how they are from the perspective of the Prophet's tradition. Therefore, in this paper we will explore  about the Prophet's traditions (takhrij al-hadith) related to the "Khataman al-Qur'an" and also try to do study the sanad and matan hadith. The hadith search used to stand is the e-hadith application and Gawame Alkalim application.

Abstract

This paper discuss about the research meaning a wear of white dress in religious practices such as shalat, dzikir  and other carried out  by Asy-Syahadatain congregation in Panguragan, Cirebon. Result of the study using phenomenological qualitative methods, it was found the answer that the wear of white dress when worship is a symbol of cleanliness and purity of self. Because white dress are more important and better when compared with other colors. Actually, this practice is not something new, or nor just ordinary tradition, but the sunnah of the Prophet. That is the habits of the Asy-Syahadatain congregation have legal legitimacy derived from the Prophet’s.

Abstract

This article discusses the development of contemporary interpretation (tafsir) paradigm in Indonesia by conducting research on the Tafsir At-Tanwir Book of the Tarjih and Tajdid Muhammadiyah Majlis (councils). The author tried to match the paradigms of contemporary interpretation in Indonesia with the Book of At-Tanwir as an embodiment of the interpretation book that actually appeared in the contemporary era so that the standardized interpretation paradigm was realized. This article begins with an introduction that explains the development of interpretations in details from the beginning when the interpretation emerged to the development of its realm, starting from the interpretation of bi al-ma'thur which was often carried out by previous scholars to the next phase exploring the realm of contextualization which gave rise to the term tafsir bi al-ra’yi. Tafsir bi al-ra’yi arose as a response to the ummat’s problems which have been increasingly developing in each era and have not been discussed in the previous tafsir books. This article also discusses the biography of Muhammadiyah’s founder, KH. Ahmad Dahlan, the establishment process of Muhammadiyah, and the Tarjih and Tajdid Majlis as an initial introduction before entering into the interpretation of At-Tanwir. Furthermore, this article discusses the paradigms of contemporary interpretations, starting from the initial assumptions as a basis to find a way for the interpretation paradigm and methodology to always develop until the direct studies of the Tafsir At-Tanwir Book which was initiated by Muhammadiyah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the interpreters of the commentators on Ibn Sabil. Ibn Sabil is one of the objects of the distribution of legal alms, in addition to other objects. This research used maudhu’i of tafsir method. The data sources used were primary data and other supporting data relating to the main problem. Based on the data analysis, the conclusion that can be obtained is that Ibn Sabil is said to be entitled to receive zakat if he travels far and runs out of provisions, even though he is a rich man in his native place, and his journey has a goal for beneficence  or goodness, whether  individuals or  groups.
