Abstract

The allegation against Qatar for its link with terrorist financing has resulted in the country incorporated in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) regional organization being excluded from its membership in the organization. Qatar is considered to have violated the agreement in the organization because it has received a Muslim Brotherhood that is con-sidered to threaten and disrupt the stability of the Gulf region’s security. In the case of this diplomatic termination, Saudi Arabia became the main control holder. But as we know that Saudi Arabia is a neighboring coun-try that has good relations with Qatar. So that allegedly there is a linkage of the United States in this country’s Gulf of diplomatic conflicts. This is based on the inconsistency of the united states in action. Qatar is cele-brating one of America’s largest trading partners in military supplies, but precisely the United States’s president trump, strongly opposed to Qatar’s unproven crime. So with the qualitative method, this paper will discuss the involvement of the united states in Qatar’s alleged terrorism financing in terms of national interest achievement.

Abstract

This research aims to find the possible compatibility between Islam and democracy which has always been a polemic in the Muslim world. To achieve this, researchers explore the debate about Islam and democracy among the academics and Islamists. This research uses qualitative methods by collecting data through interviews with a number of informants and documentation studies. The findings of this research conclude that the concept of Islamic democracy can be a bridge to the debate about Islamic compatibility with democracy. Some derivations that cover this concept are shura (consultation), ijma '(consensus), bai'at (pledge of allegiance), and ijtihad (interpretive justification). Islamic democracy with some of its derivatives do not necessarily represent Islam but reflects particular Islamic options. Therefore, the compatibility of Islam and democracy through the concept of Islamic democracy is not comprehensively Islamic but Islamic and not comprehensively democratic but is democratic. This concept plays as the distinctive character for Muslim society when they develop democracy.

Abstract

This research aims to explain why Finland did not play role as peacemaker in Ukraine Crisis. The great contribution on mediating conflicts in international relation has made Finland play role as peacemaker, a country which is well known with its peace action. But as Ukraine Crisis occurs, Finland only helps by sending foreign aid and giving advice to Russia and Ukraine to arrange a mediationwithout introducing itself as the mediator. Using constructivist approaches, this research argues that there is identity conflict between Finland’s identity as a peacemaker and as a member of The European Union which is against Russia. The strong solidarity between The European Union and Finland caused Finland tends to support The European Union’s decision to impose economic sanction against Russia, instead of mediating the conflict. This research confirms a constructivist assumption that states must consider their identities in determining foreign policy, so they will not turned dilemma when they face a situation where they need to use more than one identity to conduct foreign policy.

Abstract

Revolution happening in a country often impact on the country’s foreign political change. However, the revolution that occurred in Egypt in 2011, followed by the election of Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood as the first civilian president of Egypt, it did not change the foreign policy of Egypt, particularly against the United States. In that sense, Egypt is still continuing good relations with the United States as in the reign of Hosni Mubarak. This research aims to explain the factors that affect no change in Egypt’s foreign policy towards the United States after the revolution of 2011, especially in the era of Mohammad Mursi. In this study, the authors use the neoclassical realism theory which states that the foreign policy adopted by a country is the result of domestic political dynamics that are influenced by international structures. By using literature data collection, this study resulted in the finding that no change in the foreign policy of Egypt during the reign of Mohammad Mursi against the United States is affected by international structures which then impact on Egypt’s position which acts as a buffer state of peace in the Middle East. This in turn affects the occurrence of domestic political dynamics that make Mursi Egypt decided not to change Egypt’s foreign policy toward the United States.
