Abstract

The narrative of the death of the Prophet Muhammad is not just one. History in Sunni, He died in the lap of Aisha RA. While in the Shi'i narration, he died in the lap of Ali bin Abi Talib. These two narrations are also widespread in two conflicting Madrasas, Kufa (Shi'i) and Basra (nashibi). Thus, both camps can objectively narrate these two Hadiths. In this study, the author highlights the historical pattern of the narration of these two contradicting Hadiths to conclude the role of fanaticism in the spread of religious understanding, especially in the space of these hadiths. To solve the problem in question, the author uses content analysis with the al-ruwāt date approach. Due to the broad scope of discussion, in this paper, the author limits the conversation to the historical pattern of Aisyah RA. After research, it found that the history of Aisyah RA., which the author assumed w cut off in Kufa, is not so. It is just that there has been a refinement of narrating through narrating the hadith with meaning (al-Riwayah Bil Ma'na).

Abstract

The phenomenon of Doom that occurs today is due to the birth of various understandings, ranging from rational understanding to irrational. This understanding comes down to blaming one element of society and social. This is because the hadith text about Doom circulating on social media today is sounded based on the motives and interests of its users. It causes differences in understanding from the source of one text. Therefore, the author is interested in studying the hadith of Doom more deeply. The stages of analysis that will be carried out in this study are linguistic analysis of hadith text which then outlines critical analysis in the form of micro and macro nuzul asbabs and contextual analysis of hadith. From the results of this study, the authors concluded that there are two typologies of understanding in interpreting the hadith of Doom, namely, the typology of normative-textual understanding. This group interprets the hadith of Doom in the final text and rejects anything beyond that. Second, the typology of contextual understanding, this group is more concerned with the context and object of a punishment without judging thoroughly. Moreover, the rise of visualization of meme content sourced from hadith teaches its users to be more selective and research the source of hadith text. Abstract

The science of hadith has changed along with the times, starting from the prophet's era. The fourth century is considered a golden age for the development of hadith science. It became a scientific discipline that separated from other knowledge with the creation of the book by al-Ramahurmuzi. Using the literature study method and the content analysis approach, in the book Al-Muhaddits al-Fāshil Baina al-Rawi Wa al-Wa'i, Al-Ramahurmuzi made it a significant contribution to the development of the science of hadith because he became the first basis. With the birth of the book, the development the hadith science became the basis delivery of books by other scholars of hadith science so that its benefits can continue until now. Specifically in the science of ruwat and the history of hadith, Al-Ramahurmuzi provides a long explanation and quotes related narrations

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Joseph Schacht's orientalist thought on the development of contemporary hadith studies in Indonesia and the response of hadith researchers to his thoughts. This research is a literature study whose data source is an e-paper of religious, scientific journals in Indonesia. This study found 23 e-articles of Indonesian hadith reviewers who responded and studied Schacht's hadith thoughts. If we compare and refer to previous research (Huda, 2018), which shows that there are 36 e-articles in the study of orientalist thought in the study of hadith in Indonesia, Schacht's original thought has exceeded half. This proves that his thoughts have a relatively massive and dominant influence in orientalist studies and hadith studies in Indonesia. The characteristics and responses of Indonesian hadith reviewers to Schacht's thinking are three characteristics; descriptive-comparative (9 articles), descriptive-comparative-negative (8 articles), and descriptive-exploratory (6 articles). The majority of Indonesian hadith researchers compare Schacht's thoughts with his critics, such as Azami and Motzki. Others tend to argue and disagree with Schacht's and Motzki's thoughts). Some do exploration. The shortcoming of hadith reviewers in Indonesia in analyzing and comparing Joseph Schacht's thoughts is the lack of data on some of the writings used as references. In addition, the new theory has not been seen as the result of the synthesis of thoughts between Schacht's thesis anti-thesis of his critics.

Abstract

The perception of Ibn Hazm's thought on hadith as a Muslim intellectual who always puts forward the principles of textual Zahirism (dhāhiriyyat al-nash) in establishing a legal conclusion (istidlāl al-hukm) has implications for the general principles of understanding and position of hadith or al-sunnah. These implications will generally lead to the strengthening of the dhāhiriyyat al-nash paradigm or vice versa. This study employs a qualitative method with historical analysis and literature study along with relevant information of the study.This study explores Ihn Hazm's ideas about hadith, written in several of his works. Thus, it can be concluded that Ibn Hazm did not just use hadith for the sake of his madhab; he was also suspected of redefining or reconceptualizing various understandings of hadith. Finally, Ibn Hazm has rationalized the hadith according to the context and paradigm he is carrying. Hadith terminology cannot separate from the influence of discourse outside of hadith, such as knowledge, law, politics, and social religion.

Abstract

The authenticity of the Hadith of the Prophet p.b.u.h. no doubt about his belief among Muslims. However, the study of the authenticity of this hadith is a topic that is always discussed. Especially the orientalists are looking for errors or mistakes from the hadith. Mustafa al-Sibai explains in the book al-Sunnah wa Makanatuha fi al-Tasyri’ al-Islami, two of which are the primary triggers for these orientalists. First, there is a reason for blind fanaticism and spreading falsehoods about Islamic teachings. Second, the factor of political colonialism and imperialism occurred after knowing about the natural wealth and products of eastern culture, thus creating a sense of wanting to seize and rule over them. This is in line with the controversial opinions that have been put forward by Ignaz Goldziher and Joseph Schacht on hadith. This study aims to compare the thoughts or views of two orientalist figures, namely Ignaz Goldziher and Joseph Schacht. This study uses qualitative methods with library research. From the results of this comparative study, we get the similarities and differences from the analysis of these two orientalist figures, which conclude: first, that both of them doubt the authenticity of the hadith because the hadith is nothing but a product of the tabīn who are often accused of being the source of the hadith and the opposite of their belief. Muslims that the hadith comes from the Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. second, Joseph Schacht further developed Ignaz Goldziher’s thinking so that he focused more on criticizing hadith through legal traditions so that he did not look at the original hadith books, but Goldziher did not. Third, both of them have not studied the hadith's depth, especially in the study of Usul al-Hadith, so that many theories or opinions do not follow the Muslims’ beliefs.
