Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of a group non communicable diseases that public health has been an issues in Indonesia. At the 2007 in United State, COPD is the third leading cause of death. Smoking habit is a major cause COPD. Symptoms and sign were generally nonspecific. The provision of therapy that late can provide the impact of death. Spyrometry needed for clinical diagnosis COPD. Comparison FEV1/FVC <0,70 after bronchodilator medication can diagnose COPD. Bronchodilator medication is a first line treatment for COPD. Any medicine must specific against each patient, because symptoms and severity of limitations air flow affected by many factors.

Abstract

Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration (EBUS-FNA) and Transesophageal Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a minimally invasive technique, safe and cost effective, which uses ultrasound assistance in determining the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. EBUS using bronchoscopy whereas EUS using endoscopy, where both of those tools  integrated by ultrasound and needle aspiration. EBUS method can only check for mediastinal Lymphoma in lymph nodes anterior whereas EUS can only check the lymph nodes on the posterior region. The use of a combination of EUS and EBUS will increase the area of examination for mediastinal Lymphoma lymph nodes as well as the sensitivity and specificity in defining the diagnosis of lung cancer. Lymph node positions itself according to the according to the American Joint Committee on Cancer and the Union Internationale Contre le Cancer. Overall, these methods do not cause fatal complications if compared to other invasive diagnostic procedures.

Abstract

Aromatherapy is a kind of treatment that used aroma with aromatherapy essential oil. Extraction process from essential oil generally doing in three methods, there are distilling with water (boiled), distilling with water and steam, and distilling with steam. One of the most favorite aroma is lavender. The main content from lavender is linalyl acetate and linalool (C10H18O). Linalool is main active contents in lavender which can use for anti-anxiety (relaxation). Based on some research, the conclusion indicates that essential oil from lavender can give relaxation (carminative), sedative, reduce anxiety level and increasing mood.

Abstract

Crohn disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) is an chronic inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Colecctively, they are called inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and about 1,5 millions people in America suffering from UC and CD. The cause of UC and CD is unknown, but the expert believe that UC and CD are caused by a disturbed immune response in someone who has a genetic predisposition. UC and CD have a significant recurrency  and remission rate. Surgery in UC is a curative treatment for colon’s disease and a potentially colon’s malignancy, but it is not a curative treatment for CD.

Abstract

Pregnancy and the first child birth is an influential complex event for a mother, which is where everything including phsycal and psyological aspects. This change can make mother psyological disorder, that can lead into depression after childbearing that call post childbearing depression or post partum depression. A wide review at 59 study make a result that 13% among primipara can suffer post partum depression 12 weeks after childbearing. Estabilishmet of this diagnosis, besides from history and symptoms, and can be supported through test Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale( EPDS ). Patient with post partum depression, given treatment with antidepressant drug. Breastfeeding is not only to reduce stress for the mother, but also reduce the level of stress on a baby when his mother suffered depression

Abstract

Pneumothorax is a recognized cause of death in chest wall trauma. Radiological examination is the key factor to establish the existence of a pneumothorax. Occult pneumothorax is pneumothorax that undiagnosed clinically and with thoracic x-ray, but it can be tolerated while other more urgent trauma. Occult pneumothorax can be detected by CT (Computed tomography). Occult pneumothorax may progress to tension pneumothorax in certain circumstances. Missing in diagnosed pneumothorax will cause death. This literature will discuss radiological examination for diagnosing, early detection, and management of occult pneumothorax. If thoracic x-ray examination did not reveal the occult pneumothorax, it can be dangerous if existence of pneumothorax was not known. In this case, the examination of thoracic CT-Scan is gold standard for determining the presence of occult pneumothorax and can provide appropriate care.

Abstract

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a RNA retrovirus which causes the clinical disease termed the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Mother-to-child transmission is the main source of spreading HIV infection to the child with frequency is as high as 25-30%. This may occurred because of the intrapartum maternal blood exposure, infected genital tract secretions and during breastfeeding. The right combination of ARV treatment and elective section caesarean delivery has been proved to reduce the mother-to-child transmission of HIV infection prevalence and preventing obstetric complications significantly. Consultation and follow up with specialists is highly recommended.

Abstract

Contact dermatitis is a form of skin inflammation with spongiosis or intercellular edema of the epidermis due to the interaction of irritants and allergens. While occupational contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin due to exposure to irritants or allergens in the workplace. One of the jobs that have a high risk of the disease are construction workers. Although the disease is rarely-threatening but can cause high morbidity and suffering for workers, so it can affect the economy and quality of life of patients.

Abstract

Insomnia is defined as a disorder of difficulty initiating sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, sleep is not fresh during 1 month or more that makes a significant clinical disturbance or distress. Insomnia affects 15% to 40% of world general population and predominantly in women 65 to 79 years. Insomnia also reported in individuals aged 18 to 34 years. If neglected for a long time, insomnia can diminish job performance and quality of live for each individuals. The new strategy to solve this problem in the future is combining pharmacotherapy like eszopiclone a nonbenzodiazepine derivate and mind-body therapy (MBT) to the patients. It can lowering severe risk of conventional drugs side effects, but from pharmacoeconomic this drug is not costly effective. It must combine with MBT to decrease frequency and duration of drug consumption.

Abstract

Minor surgery is a general surgical procedure that applied with minimally invasive procedures and short duration, done in a superficial or just the affected tissue.  This technique is normally only requires a local anaesthetic and only has minimal  risk or complications. There are many cases that could be dealt with minor surgery one is veruka. Veruka or known as cutaneous warts is a disease that is often complained in children and adults. Veruka being estimated to occur until over 10% in children and young adults. Largest incident occurred in range of age 12 to 16 years. Veruka occurs more frequently in women than men. The peak incidence occur of age 13 years on women and 14.5 years in males. Salicylic acid and cryosurgery therapy are two of the most frequently performed in the treatment of cutaneous warts. Salicylic acid is therapy  for cutaneous warts who recently had already started replaced by cryosurgery because it is relatively easy to do and faster recovery.
