Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study aims to determine the potential of biomass, carbon stocks, and carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption in forest stands in the Abdul Latief Forest Park, Sinjai District, South Sulawesi Province. Measurement of biomass at various levels of growth was carried out by making plots of 20 with a size of 20 m x 20 m for tree level, 10 m x 10 m for pole level and 5 m x 5 m for sapling level. Tree biomass, poles and saplings are calculated using allometric equations for tropical wood species in Indonesia. Measuring carbon stocks is done by multiplying biomass with a conversion rate of 0.47 (47%) while carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption is calculated by multiplying the average annual growth of biomass with a conversion rate of 1.4667 obtained from the photosynthesis equation. Based on the results of the study showed that the biomass content of forest stands in the Abdul Latief Forest Park was 192.10 Ton/Ha, carbon stocks in the forest stand in the Abdul Latief Forest Park were 90.28 Ton/Ha, the oxygen production was 385,59 Ton/Ha and the absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2) in forest stands in Abdul Latief Forest Park of 13.13 Tons/Ha/Year oksigen. Value of Environmental services carbon dioxide was Rp. 35.267.664/Ton/Tahun Keywords : Biomass, Carbon dioxide absoption, Oxygen Production, Value of Enviromental Services, Forest Park

Abstract

The Forest resources have a roles and multi-function in supporting humans life. The Forest's management must be integrated with various stake holders, one of which is the locals community. The roles and function of the community is very important to maintaining the sustainability of forest functions. The tradition that grows in the community is a fundamental aspect in to designing forest management strategies based on local wisdom. The concrete step that needs to be taken is  the role of the community with the customary law that applies to the local community. The philosophyof tri hita karana  in Balinese society has a concept that can preserve forests in the midst of globalization and homogenization. Basically, the essence of the teachings of Tri Hita Karana emphasizes three human relationships in life in this world. The three relationships include relationships with fellow humans, relationships with the natural surroundings, and relationships with God that are interrelated with one another. The application of local wisdom in managing forests in an integrated manner has an influence on community behavior and the balance of forest functions. Thus, community empowerment in managing forests based on local wisdom based on the Tri Hita Karana's philosophy needs to be integrated into a structured and systematic management of mechanism to maintain, safeguard and the secure forest functions.

Abstract

: Implementation of community forest to provide access and increase the capacity of communities around forests in sustainable forest management. The purpose was to determine the relationship between participation in forest management with health of community forest clusters, which was carried out in October 2022 in the community forest of Margo Rukun and Harapan Santosa forest farmer groups, KPHL Batu Tegi, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. The methodology is calculating community participation scores, calculating forest health indicators, and Spearman Rank correlation analysis. The results of this study indicate a high involvement in the process and utilization of gopoktan Margo Rukun members with a high average participation. Meanwhile, the level of involvement is high in the implementation and supervision stages of Gopotkan Harapan Sentosa, with a high level of involvement. Forest health monitoring results show that there are 4 cluster plots with the final value of forest health status in cluster plot 1 (8.75) good category, cluster plot 2 (3.49) bad category, cluster plot 3 (8.25) good category, cluster plot 4 (3.30) bad category. The results of forest health monitoring health status in community forests with an average final value is 5.95 which is included in the medium category. The relationship between the level of participation and forest health status in the Margo Rukun Gapoktan lies in the planning, implementation, and utilization stages. In contrast, the Harapan Sentosa Gapoktan lies in the implementation and utilization stages.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Non-timber forest products (NTFPs) are natural resources that are widely available in Indonesia and are used by the community as their livelihood. NTFPs that have a high social, economic, and cultural role in the community are sago palms (Metroxylon sp.). Sago is a carbohydrate-producing plant that has the potential to support the national food security improvement program. People in Tidore Islands, North Maluku generally consume sago as a daily food source. The development of sago in Tidore Islands is carried out by many parties, including the Tidore Islands Forest Management Unit (FMU), Forestry Depatment of North Maluku Province. Tidore Islands FMU assists and fosters three Forest Farmer Groups (FFG) that utilize NTFPs in the Forest Area, FFG Mandiri Sejati in Loleo Village is one of them and specifically utilizes sago. The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization and processing stages of sago in Loleo Village, Central Oba District. This research was conducted in Loleo Village from September to October 2021. Information related to the utilization and processing of sago was obtained through interviews with FFG members. The results showed that the main part of sago used was the stem which was processed traditionally and semi-mechanically to produce the final product of sago flour. The processing stages are sago cutting, grating the stem, filtering the sago grater, settling to obtain sago essence, and packaging the sago flor. Sago flour is still traditional and does not have a trademark as identity and differentiator from similar products on the market.   Key words: NForest farmer group, Non timber forest product, Sago.
