As a country with a stable capacity in economic, Japans role in international development is shown by becoming a major donor countries through the mechanism of official development assistance (ODA). However, various dynamics of international relations post-World War II had pushed Japan to engage further, beyond the limits which set out in constitution 1947 about military and defense. This article analyzes how Japan put diplomacy of democracy as a vision to actualize the "New Japan", which is a state construction with total involvement in the international world.

As a province member in sub-regional BIMP-EAGA cooperation that also become as a centre of agriculture production in East Indonesia, South Sulawesi is trying to make serious efforts to contribute in ASEAN Food Basket Program. In this research explained that South Sulawesi government implementing a program called Program Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat (people food basket program) as response to Food Basket Strategy that agreed in frame of BIMP-EAGA cooperation. This also indicate that sub-national actor, in this case is province, has important contribution to build cooperation in regional scheme of cooperation.

This study set in a polemic that surfaced for the first time when genetically modified seeds (GMO seeds) commercialized in Indonesia in 2001. Government of Indonesiaâs (Ministry of Agriculture) choice to improve national agricultural productivity through collaboration with Monsanto is reaping a massive protest from the Non-Government Organization (NGO) which concern with environmental conservations issues. This NGOs coalition called NGO Coalition for Biological Diversity and Food Safety. This planting GM seeds Program is fail and stopped by the government in 2003. This study concluded and found the successful of NGO Coalition in advocating this issue is caused by three important factors. First, success to form and spread a critical discourse about this program. The second factor is NGO coalition success in mobilizing support and resource from various stakeholders such as NGOs, Ministry of Environment, Scientists and international networks. The third is the discovery of the role of collective identity as the party that articulates the interests of farmers and the environment in shaping and maintaining solidarity actors involved or collaborated in this Coalition.

Ethnicity and industrialization are usually analyzed separately. Even if seen interlink, the analysis will focus on the industrial production process itself (actor proximity, component makers, and industry sustainability). This paper is about to come out of the tradition as it is to be linked with the historical colonial practice that will give to a more comprehensive understanding. By taking the Malaysia colonial context is expected to show the linkages. The issue of ethnicity in this paper is not seen as something that stands alone and domestic but is related to the practice of the colonial political economy strategy to manage the problems become the dominant discourse.

Abstrac: Study of US foreign policy are generally divided into two major periods of the isolationist and internationalist. Isolationist period lasted from independence until the eve of World War II, which is characterized by the attitude of the United States who are not actively involved in the international arena. However, in this period also witnessed the expansion of the United States to the Pacific and at the same time economic growth extensively. This paper attempts to explain that the US foreign policy in this period is not entirely closed (isolationist) due to economic growth that required the addition of the international market for domestic products. In addition, in the power struggle going on between the major countries in Europe will be difficult if the United States is fully shut down of international relations.Keywords: Isolasionist, American Foreign Policy, Economic Interest

This article is a historical and conceptual analysis of World Systems Theory which proposed by Immanuel Wallerstein. This paper aims to explore historical framework of world system theory, explain the unit of analysis, and describe its relationship with other social science theories. Historical exploration of Wallerstein and this theory show a strong influence of historical study were obtained from Wallerstein background and people around him. Conceptual analysis to this theory shows that Wallerstein use Marxâs concept about social class struggle then raise in a global context by using state as the actors. In conjunction with other theories, world system theory fundamentally supports theory of dependence from Gunder Frank, and otherwise sharply criticizes modernization approach and developmental stage model by Walt Rostow.

One key of the successful advocacy is a good networking amongst advocates. Bell and Delaney has shaped the important of networking by building coalition using diversities emerged from the community to be collaborated. Buyat case is one of the successful advocacy for marginalize people in Buyat pante village through some disputes with the giant gold miner, PT Newmont Minahasa Raya. This study case will show the significant coalitions amongst academicians, NGO workers, Government, researchers, and medias had succeed to advocate Buyat community in the same objectives which getting the communityâs rights back and protecting the environment from further destruction of mining process.
