Abstract

Eco-philosophy is philosophical vision of ecological harmony in very broad sense. It unifies both vision of humanity, nature or even universe as part of evolutionary procesw towards understanding of life, consciousness and philosophy of God As an architect, one is potentially altering his/her surroundings from natural environment to a more synthetic one.A deeply understanding of ecological philosophy leads to attitudes and action that bring sustainable principle as primary basis for every architect to aware about the possibly harmful impact of their jobs to environment. It is a sense of responsibility that is to make the earth a harmonious place worth for living.

Abstract

Research on isolation and identification of lipid degrading bacteria in some sewage disposing sites and Denpasar Estuary Dam was carried out in April, 2006. This research aims to identify fat degrading bacteria on those areas.Isolation of bacteria was undertaken using thinning methods (platting methods) grown at sierra media. Colonies observed on the media after incubation on the temperature of 30-370C for 24 hours were identified based on macroscopic observations, biochemical tests, microscopic and cross tests to ensure that the bacteria identified was absolutely lipid degrading bacteria. The research result showed that number of lipid degrading bacteria isolates obtained from three sampling sites were 7 isolates. Four isolates were obtained from samples taken on BTDC Lagoons, the samples of which contains Bacillus sp. (A). Bacillus sp. (B), Klebsiella sp. and Staphylococcus sp., 2 isolates were gotten from samples found in estuary DAM with bacteria of Bacillus sp. (A) and Klebsiella sp. and 1 isolate was gotten from slaughterhouse waste disposal with Klebsiella sp. bacteria. Cross test results carried out on the seven isolates showed that two genera of bacteria only, namely: Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp., which were viable after inoculation and 24 hours of incubation time.

Abstract

Culture is affected by the environmental demands, and culture influences what people do toward the environment. What remarkable is that culture and environment influenced each other. They are frequently responsive to the demands of the environment. Furthermore, culture influences people in shaping built environment such as, cities, villages, houses, and farms. Culture influences environment through travelling, commerce, mass media, and missionaries of religion. Contact among other people, ideas and traditions effected cultural change. As a result; people are able to do contextualization that is reject, adopt, and accept the previous culture and it affected the built environment arrangement.

Abstract

Sufficient genetic diversity and gene pool conservation are needed to serve breeding activities of chrysanthemum. In the tropics, in vitro conservation was expected to be a breakthrough in alleviating the limitation of in vivo methods. A previous study using osmotic pressure methods in low temperature has successfully preserved chrysanthemum via in vitro for medium-term conservation. Modified nutrient compositions were also predicted to have the same impact as far as these concerned. The research was then, conducted to evaluate in vitro conservation of chrysanthemum using media modification in low temperature. The research was carried out on the Indonesian Ornamental Crops Research Institute (IOCRI) from January, 2007 to March, 2008. A randomized completely block design with 25 replications was utilized to accomplish the combination of two factors. The first factor was six commercial chrysanthemum cultivars, namely cv. Puma, cv. Kermit, cv. Town Talk, cv. Snowdown, cv. Yellow Fiji and cv. Saraswati. While the second factor dealt with four formulations of conservation media i.e. ½ MS + DMSO 2,5 % + 4 % sucrose, modified hyponex + 4 % sucrose, modified hyponex (no sucrose) and ½ MS + 4 % sucrose (control). The results showed that the medium term of in vitro conservation for chrysanthemum were successfully conducted up to 12 months using ½ MS + DMSO 2,5 % + 4 % sucrose and modified hyponex + 4 % sucrose without any significant differences and decreases in viability when transferred in to shoot induction media. In the absent of sucrose, however, the planlet survival rates decreased on the media of modified hyponex after 8 months of storage. No significant variation was observed among the chrysanthemum accessions tested.

Abstract

AbstractFish culture and shrimp culture has been developing rapidly during the last few decades, itis due to the increase of fish and shrimps demand. Increasing aquaculture activities especiallywith semi-intensive and intensive system have significant effect on waste production, whichhas to be removed or to be reduced quickly because will effect on fish in rearing tank andenvironment when through away to environment such as river and sea. The objective of thisstudy was to know the capability of corrugated plastic to remove or to reduce ammonia, organic matter and Suspended Solids (SS). The result of the study showed that theconcentration of ammonia, organic matter and SS in waste water reduced after were passedto corrugated plastic tank. Reducing of ammonia, organic matter and SS that occurred inshrimps rearing tank for culturing shrimp with treatment different protein concentrationcontain in meal fish were 32% and 28% with removal efficiency for ammonia were 10.95%and 14.37%; organic matter 49.02% and 19.94%; SS were 35.46% and 22.22%. Thistreatment can minimize increasing rate of ammonia, organic matter and SS, thus thistreatment can maintain water quality in rearing tank. So, it can be concluded that corrugatedplastic had capability to reduce or remove of ammonia, organic matter and SS.

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the potential of the plants ‘useless’ as kiambang(Salvinia natans) which are easy to find, and not as valuable as textile dyeing waste handlingmedia. Treatment technique used is to replace the growth medium with the waste in questionin this case of waste taken in the dyeing industry. The concentration of methylene blueinwaste of  dye, and congo red, before and after treatment, determined by spectrophotometry.Fluid absorbance was measured at a wavelength of 664 nm for methylene blue and 496 nmfor congo red. Long time treatment used is 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, and 48 hours. These resultsindicate that kiambang (Salvinia natans) is useful to lower BOD and COD of waste dyeing, although its ability to reduce the content of the dye congo red and blue methyl insignificant. This may be caused by too concentrated the dyeing waste.
