Development of Educational Game-Based Student Worksheets on Reproductive System Materials to Improve Student Interest and Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Learning media is an important thing that plays a very important role in the learning process in the classroom. Based on the results of the interview, it is known that the learning media at SMA N 1 Kendal still uses limited sources, namely package books and Student Worksheets which are still conventional. The speaker mentioned that one of the materials that were considered difficult was the Reproductive System material. The development of educational game-based Student Worksheets (LKPD) is needed to overcome problems that arise. This study aims to determine the validity of LKPD media and the effectiveness of using educational game-based LKPD on Reproductive System material in increasing student interest and learning outcomes. The research was designed with 4D research methods: Define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research design used is a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique uses the purposive sampling method. The validity of the LKPD developed gets very feasible criteria for use for learning media on the Reproductive System material. The results of LKPD validation obtained a percentage of 89.85% from media experts, and 97.5% from material experts, both of whom are in the very decent category. Validation results by students obtained a percentage of 81.47% with the category of very decent. Analysis of learning outcomes obtained an N-gain score of 74.75% with medium and high categories and for classical completion, students obtained results of 85.04%. Based on the results of research and data analysis that has been carried out, it was concluded that LKPD based on educational games on the Reproductive System material is suitable for use as a learning medium and is effective in increasing student interest and learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 1 Kendal.
Student's Perspective on of Google Classroom in Biology Learning: A Study on National Standards of Education

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of students' perspectives on the use of Google Classroom in Biology learning in schools in terms of the National Education Standards (SNP). The sample in this study was randomly selected as many as 86 high school students in East OKU Regency. The instrument used was a questionnaire containing 33 statements developed from three aspects of the SNP, namely Process Standards, Facilities and Infrastructure Standards, and Assessment Standards. The three SNPs studied were described in the indicators. Questionnaires were distributed with the help of Google Forms. The research data were then analyzed by calculating the percentage of each indicator in each aspect of the SNP being studied. The results of this study indicate that the use of Google Classroom in Biology Learning for the three aspects of SNP is in the good category. The Assessment Standard is the Standard with the highest achievement (85.40%) while the Facilities and Infrastructure Standard is the Standard with the lowest achievement (54.46%). The results of this study indicate that it is important to improve facilities and infrastructure before online learning is carried out using Google Classroom in Biology learning at school.
The Development of Plants Booklet in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency as a Learning Supplement for Classification of Living Things for Junior High Schools

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning at SMP Negeri 2 Cilongok was carried out online. Material for classification of living things is science learning material for class VII in the 2013 curriculum. The teaching materials used in the form of textbooks and Student Worksheets (LKS) are not able to help students understand the material and study independently because they have not utilized plants in the surrounding environment. The types of plants in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency have the potential as a source of learning, but the use of plants as a source of learning directly requires a longer time. Therefore a learning supplement is developed that is easy to understand and easy for students to use for independent study, namely the Plants Booklet in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency which contains pictures and descriptions. The research aims to identify plant species in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency, to analyze the validity and readability of booklets as learning supplements. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) research. The booklet product trial was carried out at Cilongok 2 Public Middle School involving class VII F students and science teachers. Based on the results of the identification of plant species in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency, 60 species were found that were relevant to be used as learning resources in Plantae material. The results of material and media validation in the booklet showed very good results with a percentage of material validation of 81.3% and media validation of 96.5%. The booklet readability test showed a high category with an average percentage of 83.3%. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the Plant Booklet in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency was stated to be valid and easily understood by students to be used as a supplement to learning material on the classification of living things.

Abstract

The development of ICT has driven changes in the learning process by utilizing the latest innovative teaching materials called mobile learning that can be applied to learning using Android-based smartphones . Learning innovations that need to be developed by utilizing mobile learning are e-module. Learning ecosystem material requires analysis and direct observation so effective teaching materials are needed using Information Technology (IT) which is based on inquiry learning and is used by students for independent and enjoyable learning. Technological advances in education have not been implemented in teaching materials in schools. This study aims to analyze the feasibility and analyze student learning outcomes using the e-module ecosystem based on inquiry learning. The research location is SMA Negeri 1 Bandar. Research and Development (R&D) stages include identification of potential and problems, data collection, e-module design, e-module validation, revision I e-module design, small-scale trials, revision II e-module design, scale e-module design large trials, final revisions and product material e-module ecosystem based on inquiry learning. The method of data analysis was carried out by administering media and material validity questionnaires, as well as practicality questionnaires on small and large-scale tests. Data analysis uses descriptive percentages. The results showed that the e-module was feasible as a teaching material with a media percentage of 91.25 % and material of 71.25%. The subjects of this study were students in classes X IPA 1, X IPA 2, X IPA 3, and X IPA 4. Practical e-modules were used as teaching materials with a percentage of small-scale trials of 78% and the percentage of completeness of small-scale classical was 86%. A large-scale trial based on teacher responses of 100% and student responses X IPA 1, X IPA 2, and X IPA 3 totaling 103 students getting a percentage of 99.02% in the very good category. The students' classical completeness in the large-scale test for class X IPA 1, X IPA 2, and X IPA 3 was 89.63% . Based on these results, it can be obtained that the e-module ecosystem based on inquiry learning that has been developed can be applied in learning for high school students in class X IPA and the learning outcomes of class X IPA students in the study have fulfilled the classical completeness criteria with a percentage of ≥85%.

Abstract

Online learning causes students to have difficulty understanding concepts. Students need interesting and interactive learning media without space and time limitations such as interactive multimedia based on mobile apps. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of the interactive multimedia of the human digestive system based on mobile apps to increase students' understanding of concepts and to analyze the profile comparison of their conceptual understanding. This type of research used nonequivalent control group design, XI MIPA 1 as the experimental class using interactive multimedia and XI MIPA 2 as the control class using video. Data analysis using test instruments and questionnaires. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the average learning outcomes in the experimental class compared to the control class with an average value of 81.8 > 76.1. The increased understanding of concepts in the experimental class and the control class were in the moderate category and significantly different with an N-gain 0.63 > 0.48. The class that completes classically is the experimental class with a score of 88.89%. The profile of understanding the concept of the experimental class is higher than the control class on all indicators. The experimental class gave a good to very good response and the teacher gave a very good response to the application of interactive multimedia. The conclusion of this study is that the interactive multimedia of the human digestive system based on mobile apps is effective for increasing students' understanding of concepts and the profile of students' conceptual understanding in the experimental class is higher than that of the control class.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the feasibility of the android application media based on PQ4R learning strategy according to experts and users and to find out the effectiveness of the media on the cognitive learning result of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Batang on ecosystem material. This type of research is Research and Development (R & D) with research procedures using the ADDIE model, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, questionnaire, and test. The results showed that the percentage obtained from material experts, media experts, and users, namely teachers and students with very decent criteria. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in cognitive learning result after using the android application media based on the PQ4R learning strategy on ecosystem material in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Batang which was proven by the results of hypothesis test with Fcount (16,094) > Ftable (3,93). It is also proven in the results of the average posttest score of 87.81 compared to the average pretest value of 47.20 with an N-Gain of 0.77 in the high criteria. This study concludes that the android application media based on the PQ4R learning strategy on ecosystem material was declared very feasible by material experts, media experts, and users, namely teachers and students to use in learning and effectively improve student cognitive learning result.

Abstract

This study aims to characteristics, validity, applicability and effectiveness of Basic Tissue Histology Atlas to improve student motivation and learning outcomes. This research design is Research and Development (R&D) with reference to Sugiyono's development model. The research subjects were students of class XI SMA Negeri Gondangrejo, with 30 students in the small-scale trial and 35 students in the large-scale trial. Methods of data collection in the form of media and material validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, learning motivation questionnaires, and tests totaling 20 multiple choice questions. The results showed that the Basic Tissue Histology Atlasthat was developed obtained an average percentage of 92.2% with very valid criteria, 95% teacher responses and 100% student responses with applicable categories, 82.8% learning motivation with motivated categories. and highly motivated, as well as an increase in learning outcomes of 0.67 in the medium category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Basic Tissue Histology Atlasthat was developed has characteristics that can be seen from each component of the atlas and a systematic and full color display, valid to be used as a learning medium in high school, can be applied as a learning medium, and is effectively used to improve student motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The explosion of information that occurred due to advanced technology caused people to have information literacy skills. Information literacy skills are needed by students so that they are able to obtain accurate information from trusted sources. The purpose of this research was to develop the module and to find out the potential and to test the feasibility of the module in training information literacy to students. In this study, the Research and Development/R&D method based on Sugiyono’s theory of 2015 version was used with modifications. The method sequentially included the potential and problem stages, initial information collection, module design, module validation by experts, module revision phase I, trial use of small-scale modules, revision of phase II modules, and large-scale module trials. The trial design used a pre-experimental design method in the form of a one-shot case study. The module trial was carried out at SMAN 3 Tegal involving 9 students of class XI-MIPA 1 and SMAN 14 Semarang involving 30 students of class XI-MIPA 2. The data collected includes data on students' perceptions of the information literacy content in the module and data on the module's ability to practice information literacy through tasks/activities on the module. Data were collected through questionnaires and instruments in the form of assignments in the module. The data were analyzed quantitatively using the formula for the percentage of qualitative criteria. The results showed that the developed module was suitable to be used regarding the material expert assessment results that reached 96.87%, while the assessment of media experts was 95.24%, and the assessment of biology teachers was 99.62%. In addition, the student assessment data was obtained stating that the module could be used as a learning resource. Based on the data analysis of the potential of the module in training students' information literacy, it could be seen that in the small-scale trial, a percentage of 85.49% was obtained with the criteria of highly eligible, while in the large-scale trial, the percentage of 77.41% was obtained with the criteria of eligible. Thus, it could be concluded that the developed module was eligible to be used and it was able to train students' information literacy.

Abstract

Lesson plans serve as guidelines for teachers when managing classes. However, some teachers choose to use the previous school year's lesson plans or copy their colleagues' lesson plans, this is due to the very detailed preparation of the 2013 curriculum lesson plans. This is the background for the Minister of Education and Culture to issue Letter Number 14 of 2019 concerning Simplification of lesson plan into three main components, namely learning objectives, learning activities, and assessment.. The purpose of this study was to analyze the ability of Biology Education Students in arrange the 2019 Revised lesson plan. The research method used was descriptive quantitative with survey techniques. The research sample was 50 UNNES Biology Education Students. Instruments in the form of lesson plan assessment sheets and student response questionnaires. The results obtained are the ability of Biology Students in general is included in the very good category by 14%, in the good category by 10%, in the average category by 44%, in the low category by 28%, and in the very low by 4%. Biology Education Students are mostly in the average category of 22 students. The total of students in the very good, good, and average categories is 34 students with a minimum score of 79,2. Most of the Biology Education Students in preparing the 2019 Revised lesson plan (34 students) have been able to compose the lesson plan components, especially the lesson plan identity components, learning objectives, selection of learning media, learning steps, assessment, and good language in preparing lesson plan. Although there are some students who have general deficiencies in the time allocation component that is not included in the learning scenario, learning resources that only use textbooks, lesson plans do not bring students closer to interacting with the environment, evaluations do not include remedial and enrichment programs, and assessment attachments are sometimes missed. The results of the student response questionnaires became crosscheck to determine the level of student knowledge .The result of learning objective percentage of 91.2%, an assessment of 90.8%, an evaluation of 89.2%, preparation and guidelines lesson plan 87.6%, learning steps 86.4%, basic knowledge about the differences between the 2013 Curriculum lesson plan and the 2019 Revised lesson plan 85.36%, knowledge about the advantages and disadvantages of lesson plan 84.13%. The concluision is most (34 students) Biology Education Students have been able to prepare the 2019 Revised lesson plan highest achievement is 99 and the lowest achievement is 68. The results of the student response questionnaire generally show that Biology Education students are good at understanding the arrange of the 2019 lesson plan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of visual media human coordination system to improve students' metacognition and concept mastery in learning with the group investigation model. The research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Ungaran for the academic year 2021/2022. The research method used is an experimental research method with quasi-experimental type two group pretest-posttest with control design. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. Class XI MIPA 5 as the experimental group used the visual media human coordination system in learning with the GI model and class XI MIPA 6 as the control group used video and PPT in learning with the GI model. The effectiveness of the visual media human coordination system in learning with the Group Investigation (GI) model to improve metacognition ability was determined from hypothesis testing, there was a significant difference in metacognitive ability between the experimental class and the control class. The effectiveness of the visual media human coordination system in learning with the Group Investigation (GI) model to improve students' conceptual mastery skills is determined by the criteria, 1) Achievement of KKM, 2) Obtaining N-Gain, and 3) There are significant differences in the results of students' concept mastery between the experimental class and control class. The results of the metacognitive ability hypothesis test showed that there was no significant difference in the metacognitive ability of the experimental class and the control class. The results of the concept mastery ability showed that the experimental and control class classical mastery > 75% with the increase in students' classical mastery in the experimental class which was higher than the control class. The results of the N-gain test showed that the students' mastery of concepts in the experimental class had reached the criteria. The results of the hypothesis test showed that there was a significant difference in the mastery of the concept of the experimental class and the control class. The conclusion of this study is that the visual media of the human coordination system ­in learning with the GI model is effective in increasing the ability to master concepts but is not effective in increasing students' metacognitive abilities.
